We used to live in NY.This was my first visit to a gynecologist in NJ. I saw Dr. Stacy Martinucci…read more She was pleasant and answered my questions and helped me to relax during my examination. Her nurse was also pleasant. The lady checking me in and out was friendly and welcomed me to their practice and bid me farewell until my next visit. Many doctors don't realize this but it is very important to have check-in and check-out staff who are personable. It means a lot to patients like me since it helps us feel more at ease when visiting medical professionals.

With pregnancy, they wanted me at certain weeks and so they didn't always have the best time slots available and my first visit was on a Friday and I waited about an hour to see Stacy Martinucci, which I was told was normal especially since Fridays are busy days for them. I wish I had known that ahead of time as I had somewhere else to be and was running late and did not get to ask the questions I would've liked to asked. Although I'm not sure Stacy would have answered them, as she wasn't very patient and was a bit pedantic and arrogant. My husband was taking notes and she told him to 'stop taking notes because it's stressing me out.' I don't think she was a good listener, but she gave out basic information and was fine, I wouldn't go to her if you need someone more compassionate or nurturing. I've seen her multiple times and she talks so much with such authority but she doesn't listen and doesn't answer questions you have. Dr. Arthur Gross was very rude my first visit, pedantic as well. I did hear one of the medical assistants say, 'Arthur is in such a bad mood this morning,' so maybe I caught him on a bad day. I told him 'for some reason I've developed a bitter taste in my mouth and it's horrendous when I eat something sweet.' And sarcastically replied, 'what do you mean for some reason, you're pregnant.' Why yes, I do know I'm pregnant, but I didn't know it was so common that pregnant women find most foods and sweet things repulsive. And he also said, 'well you haven't lost weight so you're fine.' The staff has never bothered to ask about my pre-pregnancy weight, I saw them for the first time at 9 weeks and I had already lost 5lbs from nausea and vomiting by then (and I'm thin to start with). When I tried to tell him about the weight loss and inability to drink more than 1 cup of water a day, he ignored me. He was impatient, didn't seem to want to listen and looked resentful when I had questions. The doctors also have contradicting advice, such as Stacey saying Vitamin B6 helps with nausea and Arthur saying it's just a placebo. Plus I have no idea why I went in for a doctors visit besides to be treated like crap, he told me to lower my pants, plopped some goop on my belly, getting it all over my pants and quickly did something and then literally threw a tissue on me, he never explained what he did and I didn't get to ask as he wanted to leave the room asap, I know it wasn't a sonogram as they told me after week 10 that all those are in the hospital and it wasn't hooked up to a monitor. The medical assistants also have an attitude problem, reflecting the general attitude of Dr. Gross. One of them, I think her name is Michelle (fake blonde, Hispanic, late 40s, chubby, short) is so rude and spiteful, I swear she gets joy out of stabbing you extra hard when giving vaccines. One of the days I was suppose to see Dr. Markovitz, I was informed once I got there he wasn't available so I had to see the physician assistant, I easily agreed to this and reminded her that I also had to get my TDAP shot, she immediately replied in a sarcastic tone, 'well that's just earth shattering news,' I was so confused I didn't even know if she was talking to me. This practice truly reflects the attitude of its owner, Dr. Gross. The only doctor I had a great experience with was Dr. Markovitz. He was the only one who seemed happy to be treating pregnant women. And he explained that he was using a Doppler to listen to the baby's heart beat and that the extra loud noise was the baby kicking because it doesn't like the Doppler. He was also happy to answer questions I had. I also really loved the phlebotomist, who is very patient and kind (tall black woman). The front desk staff is generally pleasant as well. I read that most people don't like to sue doctors they like even when the doctors make mistakes, I now see why this office has lawsuits against them. They never gave me any advice on staying healthy- didn't tell me foods I was not allowed to eat, didn't tell me not to sleep on my back after 28 weeks, didn't tell me no hot tubs, didn't tell me to take prenatals, didn't tell me to do kick counts, didn't tell me what a Doppler was. They literally never explained the why of anything, which was frustrating as a first time mom. I had to learn every thing in baby groups I joined and google

WHEN YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE, THEY WILL HOLD YOUR RECORDS HOSTAGE AND THREATEN TO CALL POLICE! HAD TO…read moreCONTACT STATE DEPT. I am completely done with this place! I encourage anybody who values the security of their health records and mental sanity to look elsewhere. The "office manager" Michelle, is Rude, Unprofessional and hostile. She flat out disregards calls, messages and REQUESTS; if you are waiting for a callback, keep waiting, especially if she knows what you are calling about. I have had my Medical Record held HOSTAGE by this practice for over 1 MONTH AND 6 DAYS (and still waiting). I even left multiple messages FOR THE DOCTOR to call me, and they have been disregarded by the doctor, not forwarded to her or never written down. I should have know this place was going to turn into a disaster when the very first office manager suddenly stopped working there, and the patients became fewer and less of a certain demographic. I could only think Michelle be it the reason. I have been lied to about billing, they have thrown in pregnancy tests on my bill, when I never requested one. They do not promptly follow up on lab results, I have waited over 2 WEEKS for what came after 5 days. The doctor merely apologizes for something that required immediate attention, UNACCEPTABLE. I've been lied to by MICHELLE that these falsely billed tests were required for some exams to be performed. I have my medical insurance handling this matter. Dr. Cho's office staff are incompetent, uncertified and unlicensed. You ask them a question about ANYTHING and they tell you they don't know; "I don't know where your records are, I don't know about billing, I don't know when the labs will be in. I don't know where Michelle is, I don't where the doctor is. I just take the calls." WHY ON EARTH would anybody want a bunch of know nothings working for their medical practice. There is a lack of Professionalism, Rapport and Medical Training. Michelle is responsible for patient records, which is a scare fest in itself. Bergen Gynecology really should have a nurse handling medical records or outsource with an agency who manages these. A nurse is knowledgable and competent to answer medical questions, period. I myself had a very open and candid conversation with Dr. Cho at my last appointment, exclaiming to her that her office manager is not someone I care to work with; she is rude and curt on the phone with patients, she is a poor representation of how one in her position should conduct herself and to the reputation of the practice. Hopefully Dr. Cho will realize the disillusionment. But she better Wake Up or her practice will not see longevity. It is not with regret that I am taking my business elsewhere and so should you.

The first time my appointment got canceled and I figured it was my fault or something that went wrong through ZocDoc. The second time I made the appointment and called to confirm it immediately to make sure that it wouldn't be canceled again. Fast forward about a month and the appointment once again gets canceled, this time only a day before I'm supposed to go in so I call immediately. I explain the situation and the woman on the phone is absolutely no help, completely unapologetic, and claims that whoever booked my appointment made a mistake even though I had called to make sure it could be booked. She claims that they had attempted to call me early to try and tell me the appointment was canceled but I go no calls and only found out literally the day before. Wouldn't have been too big of an issue except that I am a college student and am barely home so this was the one day I had free and wouldn't be able to schedule another appointment for two whole months. The women I spoke to offered no explanation and didn't even apologize for this, completely horrible service and was clearly annoyed at me even though I had done nothing to cause this to happen.

I can only say wonderful things about this practice! I've been a patient here for quite a few years…read morebefore getting pregnant & all the drs I saw while pregnant were caring & thorough. Dr Patrusky delivered my son & she was EXCELLENT! This was In 2019. Fast forward to last week, and I had to unfortunately have a D & C for a miscarriage that occurred last week. Dr. Zachary Merriam was FANTASTIC! I can not say enough good things- he was compassionate, thorough & explained EVERYTHING in detail before he even started. Really wanted me to feel comfortable. I saw him often while I was pregnant with my son as well, including when I was in labor. But going through a tough procedure like I did last week, truly made me see how caring he is. I think ppl who left bad reviews about him, just didn't appreciate how thorough he is. He even called to check up on me today to see how I was feeling! It's the little things like that- especially during something so difficult to go through, that make me appreciate & see what a good dr he truly is. The nurses are fantastic as well! Amira has gone above & beyond to ensure I am always comfortable & well taken care of!! So I HIGHLY recommend this practice, in particularly Dr Merriam!!!

It was my first pregnancy, no complications, I was in active labor and progressing normally. She said she was going to induce me to "move things along." She didn't explain the side effects of early induction, nor did she give me a choice. This being my first pregnancy and being naive about the process of labor and delivery, I thought induction was normal and part of the process so I didn't question it. It wasn't until later I found out that she wanted to "move things along" because she was going off shift but coming back several hours later. I suspect she didn't want to deal with delivery if she didn't have to. Dr. Patrusky, who came on shift shortly after, delivered my baby. In retrospect, Dr. Bewtra's actions to induce me when I was progressing well in my labor naturally is absolutely atrocious. In my opinion, all the 5- star ratings she has on other MD websites are probably written by herself. In my experience, she is not a doctor of integrity and transparency which is probably why she had the most availability out of all the doctors in this practice. Avoid at all cost.
