The Jeep was thirsty after being slung around by the wind on our way to Lubbock. Valero prices were as follows: Diesel = $4.94 Regular unleaded = $4.00 Plus = $4.50 Premium = $4.80 Pre-paying and pumping was fast. Nice, spacious pump stations with the extra tall canopy towering above - just wish they'd wipe them (keypads, fuel start buttons, handles, etc.) down often. Trucks and trailers seemed to maneuver in and out easily here. Trash cans were nearby so the kid could get rid of all her backseat mess.

After pumping gas, no receipt was available at the pump, so I had to go inside and wait in line to get the receipt from the cashier. Since they were busy and there was a line of about a half dozen people, I thought it best to get the receipt first, then visit the restroom and snacks. The urinal in the men's room was taped off and marked "out of service". The toilet hadn't been cleaned and had received a lot of business - there's just not a nice way to put it - with material on the rim and the floor was wet, yellow and sticky. YUCK. The area in the store was fine, except for dirty footprints coming out of the restrooms, but all I wanted to do at that point was leave - quickly - and find a place to take a shower. This might have been episodic, but use caution.

The cashier was stocking items when I walked in yet didn't say hi or smile at me. He was rather methodical checking me out with three large Seven Select PURE waters ($2.49 each or 2 for $3.50). I would have picked up some burritos to go, but the food already looked hours old plus whoever was working back there never came to see me at that counter. The restrooms are cleanish and the staff is friendlier across the intersection. Go there instead!

What he actually found is that this is the last gas for over 70 miles so we had to turn around and head back here to fill up. That explains why the price here is higher than the surrounding area... You pretty much have to stop here if you need gas in the area. I went inside to use the restroom and I cannot speak to the men's room because there were big yellow cones around it and signs saying it was shut down , but the lady's room was absolutely disgusting. Open garbages with used feminine hygiene products visible, incredibly dirty, toilet paper all over the floor, etc. I will say that when I walked out, the lady behind the counter was nice and seemed genuinely friendly, if not overwhelmed. Still, if you have the gas to make it to the next station, I suggest you keep on pushing.

The potatoes were like mashed potatoes, the potatoes that usually come with this plate are typically fried potatoes . My burrito of potatoes, eggs and cheese was pretty flavorless. I tried doctoring it up with salt, pepper and the salsa but still not tasty. I think it had a lot to do with the potatoes which, once again were like mashed potatoes. My husband did like the sausage and tortillas his plate came with. I liked the cozy feeling of the place but would not come back again.
