This place was surprisingly good! We travel through Brownfield and eat here every so often. This is by far the best restaurant in town! The food is fresh, not frozen. The service was great but the food, not so much. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros and the eggs were made over easy, not over medium. The potatoes were like mashed potatoes, the potatoes that usually come with this plate are typically fried potatoes . My burrito of potatoes, eggs and cheese was pretty flavorless. I tried doctoring it up with salt, pepper and the salsa but still not tasty. I think it had a lot to do with the potatoes which, once again were like mashed potatoes. This is a hometown favorite. We eat there every Saturday. The service and staff are great. My husband has their enchiladas every time.

Yummy! We stopped here on our way to Ruidoso and we are so glad we did. So much better than any of the fast food options. We had a party of 8 and were in and out within 45 minutes. The cheeseburgers were awesome, the shrimp was delicious and the chicken was ok. The chicken had the least amount of flavor so we would recommend the cheeseburgers. We also had two club sandwiches and they were good. The chili cheese fries were awesome! The staff was very friendly and the service was quick! We also loved the ample covered parking. If you are driving through town and need to get somewhere, this is not the place to stop. We waited 40 minutes for cheese burgers. They are unapologetic about the wait and told us "we are not fast food". So now you know. They are not fast food. You can get a good burger if you have an hour to eat lunch. So we're traveling back to our home in Granbury from Ruidoso and go through Brownfield and I am HUNGRY. Lots of fast food places, it looks like, but I want something DIFFERENT. I found the Cub Drive In on the main drag. There were a number of cars there so I convinced my husband to stop. Busy busy! The small restaurant (it's really not a drive in; probably used to be by the way the front is laid out, but there is really only a drive THRU) has about 20 tables and all were filled with locals and oil field workers (I'm guessing). There were about 4 college age girls working quickly to take care of all of the customers. I peruse the numerous entrees on the board. I finally narrow it down to the carne asada burrito, or chili cheeseburger and I ask one of the young girls. "The burritos are good," she says. And then, "but our burgers are really good, too!" (My husband hates when I ask the waiter/watress' opinion, but who would know better??). Yes, this is no place to count calories, by the way. I decide to get the burritos, plus a small order of chips and salsa (all homemade). Both were delicioso! The flour tortilla was thick enough to hold the meat and sauce but wasn't too doughy. The meat (small chunks, nice and tender) and sauce were very flavorful with a little jalapeno (green chili?) for kick. And the chips came in a completely full brown paper sack--very fresh! We were both really glad that we didn't settle for fast food. This place is a gem in an otherwise lackluster looong ride home! read more

A staple of Brownfield. Very good Tex-Mex (tacos are very greasy, I like grease) but they also serve comfort food such as chicken bits, burgers, and chicken fried steak. They also have a menu item called the "Thing" which I have been told is great but don't know the details about what it actually is. Only downside is you end up leaving smelling like whatever they were cooking. It does have that dive sort of feel to it so what do you expect? It gets very busy during lunch time. read more

Being from Brownfield but living in Tennessee now (thanks to the Army), this place wasn't open when I lived here, but is now my go-to for breakfast burritos when we come visit my parents and in-laws. None friendly and family environment. Smoking full time and always unclean. The food is terrible. Burned hamburger patties every time. Lacking in quality.
