Room: First, kick your North American expectations out the door. With 7 million people in 1,104 km sq, you will likely live in a micro-flat. My Dash Standard room was 180 sqft. Despite the size, I fell in love so hard with this room. It was bright, it was clean, and it was located in the most convenient of locations. The building was older, but the room was newly renovated and the security guards downstairs are the nicest people in the world. Sure, it's small, but for a single occupant, it was perfectly cozy. Again, this is just for my flat. There are options to pay more and get bigger rooms The toilet wasn't in the shower, which wasn't next to my bed (there are a LOT of flats like this, don't be surprised). The bathroom itself was fantastically equipped with a rain shower head and like most apartments, the hot water has to be turned on and off. No, you don't have a kitchen, but you get a hot plate, a pot, and a boiler. The AC is new and high-tech. The bed reminded me of the fanciest of hotels and I still think it's one of the most comfortable beds/duvets I've ever slept in. This place definitely became my home and I could not have asked for anything better. Amenities: It's a serviced apartment so of course, you get your Wi-Fi but you also get weekly hotel style housekeeping, a very large TV with Apple TV/Now TV, and A GYM PASS. As an avid gym goer, the pass sold me, especially since gyms are crazy expensive to join in HK. Service: The people that work at Dash are lovely. They're polite and most importantly, responsive. They are available almost 24/7 and you are encouraged to directly message them through Whatsapp. They help you in with moving in, moving out (arranged for someone to help me carry a large box to the post office), and everything in between. In 6 months living here, the only issue I had was a very tiny bug problem one night; someone came in and sprayed the entire room the next day. Literally can't complain. Even after I finished living there, they still answered my questions promptly. Location: I stayed in the Causeway Bay location. The subway entrance was literally next door and I was dropped in the middle of consumer heaven. The amazing Sogo department store was my neighbour, and I was 5 minutes away from Hysan Place, Times Square, and all the convenience I can hope for. A 24 hour Wellcome was down the street. Yet despite all that hustle and bustle, it was always quiet in my room. Price: For Hong Kong, and in CWB, of all places, this place was a steal. I got in at a special promoted price that never increased over my time there. Typically the rent is from HKD 15,000 to 20,000/month which is in line with other serviced apartments I've researched. If you are planning to stay in HK for a month or more, I absolutely recommend Dash Suites. They have not only made it an easy experience to live and work here, but an incredibly enjoyable one. I can't believe I'd ever fall in love with a 180 sqft micro-flat, and now, I actually MISS it. A tear may or may not have been shed on the day I had to leave. I was looking for a place to stay in Hong Kong for the week, and I did *NOT* want to stay in…read moreChungking mansions. I found Yesinn YMT, and I was *extremely* happy. I got a private room for right around $50 a night, which is *AMAZING* for this part of Hong Kong. The hostel is an easy less than 5 minute walk from the Yau Ma Tei subway station, right off of Nathan Road. When I checked in, I liked the look of the common room. Plenty of places to sit and relax, and also a computer if you need to use one. They also have bottled water and other beverages to sell. Everyone I interacted with the week I was there was fantastic. Anything I needed to find, I could find in the immediate neighborhood, and they showed me exactly where it was on a map. I also needed to print up a couple of emails for tours I was taking, and they printed those out for me also. There is also Wi-Fi throughout the building, which was fast enough for me to stream video with, even using a VPN for security. I was on a higher floor, and still had no problem with it. The hostel/guesthouse is in one highrise building. For security purposes, you press your room key up against a sensor in the elevator, and it will give you only access to the floor you are staying on. The room was very small, but again, for what I was paying for a private room in Hong Kong, it was perfect. The room had a bed, a small bathroom, and a TV. I was living out of my suitcase for the week, but there was plenty of space to put my gear and still move around. My TV did not work the first day or so, but as soon as they could get a technician in, they couldn't get it to work, so they just replaced the whole TV. There was also 2 different places to plug in my voltage converter, so I could keep my electronics charged. I told them that they did not need to send someone up to replace my towel or fold my comforter every day, but they did anyway. i thought that was a nice touch. As for the neighborhood, as I mentioned, it is close to the Subway which, combined with the bus, and ferry systems, will get you almost anywhere in town. There is an express bus to and from the airport that runs on Nathan Road just a block and a half away. There are tons of local restaurants in the neighborhood, where you can find all sorts of food, from standard, to very , um, "adventurous". (I *actually* found the duck tongue in soy sauce very tasty. I learned that duck tongues have bones. I didn't get to try the snake soup at another spot, though. :) ) Right outside the front door is the Temple Street Night Market, where you can find just about anything you are looking for. Be prepared to haggle, and you will find some great deals. Overall, a great place to stay run by great people. However, there is one important rule to follow, especially if you are staying in the dorms. (See picture.)
