Another solid vegetarian/vegan restaurant in meat heavy Spain! Spacious seating with plentiful portions on the menu. We had the spaghetti bolognese with an additional tofu dish. They were both good and had large portions. Initially I had ordered the wrong pasta dish (by my own mistake due to my bad pronunciation) and when I asked the waitress if I could actually have the other pasta dish after apologizing profusely she just rolled her eyes, said ok and walked away. That was definitely not what I expected so that aspect was disappointing. However, the food was good. It lacked a little flavor compared to some other vegan friendly restaurants in Spain but in terms of breadth of menu it was great. Oh thank heaven - a whole menu of options for vegans! Try bouncing all over Spain explaining "veganos" to the locals. I don't even think this exists - it always comes with a 5min explanation of what we choose to avoid. My husband and I came here for lunch and were SO happy we did. Our waiter spoke good enough English to get us by, the menu was available in English and most importantly - the food was delicious! We love to try different restaurants and new food but if we were staying in Madrid longer than 4 days we would've absolutely returned here for another lunch or dinner. Loved this place. Small walk off Vodafone Sol plaza this place is amazing. Small space so get there early because they fill up fast. Friendly staff and AMAZING food. Rare to find vegetarian food that doesn't tast like a downgraded meat product. This place was full of flavor and originality. If you go during a week day get they daily special; you get a soup/salad, entree, desert, and two drinks (zumo del dia (like a smoothie), and an herbal tea (towards desert) all for only 13 Euro. I ordered spaghetti bolognese. The texture of the pasta was very soggy like they didn't know the word "al dente" or even how to boil pasta. The bolognese had no taste. I added salt, pepper, and even vinegar, and it finally tasted better. A skinny young waiter was pretty much rude, consistently had no smile. He didn't come to my table unless I rose my hand and called him CLEARLY. I was very disappointed with my dinner that night. read more

This place is incredible. If you are in Madrid and you don't try this place, you've missed out. As a vegetarian this may be one of the best places I've ever ever eaten vegetarian food. Yerbabuena is yerbamala. The chef's concept of vegetarian food is that it must contain a bean sprout garnish. Oblivious service, 3/4 of the dishes were lukewarm and one was scorching hot. I'm happy that there is more than one vegetarian place in Madrid, but this one is not the best. We got a beet smoothie which was very bitter, it felt that they left out some of the fruit. The veggie rolls we got were good and I was happy with the salad that I got, but my husband's eggplant moussakka was not good very good at all. 4 Stars for the quality of food, 5 stars for portion size, 3 stars for price. Having enjoyed lunch menu at a number of places in Madrid, 20 euros felt really expensive. But this place is definitely worth visiting once. Chef gives a very Spanish feel to vegetarian dishes which frankly is a rarity. Tea is served as part of the lunch menu and together with bread and appetizer, is a meal in itself. The dish I ordered had a funny name but it was delicious and the portion size was good. I really wish Arco Iris had more unique and flavorful dishes for vegans/lacto-vegetarians. I felt like most of the items were very basic and simple. The waitress was so rude, that I couldn't eat... I felt I was in a bad movie. My friends couldn't believe it. We had some juices and left to other place, because we felt the food was going to poison our bodies. The noise of the dishes was torturing in the section they made us sit. When we said we were not having any food, the attention got worse. We didn't complain and we even left a tip, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I can see myself eating regularly at this great vegetarian (with vegan offerings, as well) for years to come. We gave it a first try recently, with our "groupon" in hand (restaurant coupon from an internet website), and we were not disappointed. We entered and our waiter escorted us to the back dining room, seated us at a cozy table, and asked us if we were hungry. Then he added, "No, are you REALLY hungry?" And, naturally, we answered yes, of course, and he shuffled off with a knowing little laugh. If you opt for the Menú de degustación (a "sampling" from the menu), beware. I mean, it's good, it's varied, but it is also a massive amount of food. I would suggest going for a late lunch (having skipped breakfast) or an early dinner (having skipped lunch). You will be served appetizers: a variety of purees and salmorejo (andalusian cold tomato soup), then a first course, followed by nachos, a second course (where you have 3 options to choose from), and a desert, tea and a large and lovely wholegrain roll. I had the vegan option, and though I was unable to finish it (because I was stuffed midway through the nachos) it was tasty. The husband had this insanely delicious dish- 'buñelos" (crepes) with veggies and a wonderful sauce and he loved it (and he's not a vegetarian). Yes, I can attest that their sauces and purees are very good and this is important in vegetarian cuisine. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on their deserts because by that time I was in a hazy, food overload stupor and had to opt out. The principal drawback regarding my meal here was the amount of cheese, and possibly cream, that they use in the dishes that came with this particular menu. I'm lactose intolerant, so I ate at my own risk. Otherwise, everything was good--though, not exceptional. But as I kept a hawk-like eye on what was being served at other customer's tables, there are plenty of reasons to return. All of the dishes looked beautifully presented, plentiful and very appetizing. My experience won't deter future visits because I know that there are many other options to choose from off their regular (non- groupon) menu. And based on fellow yelpers experiences, it's the best veggie cuisine in town. For future reference, we arrived at 9 on a Saturday night and were the first to be seated in the large dining room. However, by 10, there were only 2 small tables available in the entire restaurant. The place is popular, so I do recommend reservations on the weekends. read more

The wife and I did a ton of research before we decided to hit up this spot for lunch during our visit to Madrid. And boy were we blown away! This place is AMAZING! And it had some of the best vegan/vegetarian food I've ever had. All of their food is vegetarian but most can be made vegan upon request. For starters we had the mexican burritos/taquitos which also came with some sour cream and guacamole. It came with two huge pieces and it was excellent. For entrees, we had the vegetarian paella which was also excellent! I had real paella with seafood during my visit to Spain but this one was by far superior. And it was vegetarian! The wife also enjoyed the paella. For dessert, we had the vegan carrot cake which was also awesome. All in all, the food was awesome and we were so glad to have chosen this place. While on vacation here in Madrid, I decided to stop in and try this nice little vegitarian spot. I ordered the Wednesday special with mineral water and sangria. The food was nuanced and tasty, with flavors that blended well with each other and pleased my palate. The sangria took the edge off of an entire day's hike around the ciudad and the Paseo Prado. The restaurant was clean and pleasantly apportioned, and the waiter was both friendly and didn't hold a grudge against my butchery of the spanish language.
