Great tutoring program for those that need those few extra lessons to better understand their…read morecourse. I came here without much expectations seeing as how a friend merely referred it to me as a "decent" after school but I have to admit, I was impressed. Pros: Compared to other after schools, this place is HUGEEE. Might I say, I mean, really, there's plenty of rooms and a gargantuan playground for the kids to play at. It's so big that not all the rooms are in use at the moment but hey, they means it's only bound to get bigger right? They also have a pretty decent selection of meals planned out for the kids covering Asian fried rice to American Pizza Bites. The material covered at Leader's Academy focuses on the areas that your child may need so you could say that each and every kid has a special folder that is designed for them. It's not your cookie cutter workbook which generalizes each and every student under a standardized learning. Cons: Because they don't specifically have enough numbers of each grade to have their own grade classes, most of the classes are mixed. It's not where one class will be all 3rd grade or another all 5th grade. Instead the classes are divided into blocks. For example, PreKinder and Kinder would be placed together. 1st and 2nd grade would be put together. And so on and so forth. Because of this you could say that the kids are placed with older/younger kids compared to them which may or may not be beneficial in the parents' eyes.

Four years ago I was faced with a decision....where do I put my daughter for 6th grade? My…read moredaughter has ADHD accompanied with an auditory processing disorder. At that time she was attending a small public school in West Hollywood in a class of 36 children with no teachers assistants. She was completely lost in all subjects, which also led to low self esteem. She was limited to 45 minutes of resources per day, which was really the only help/ teaching she received, the rest of the days were a loss. Through a friend, we were referred to Summit View West. I scheduled an appointment to take a tour of the school (four years ago)and brought my daughter along. That day, my daughter made her decision...she said, "this is the school that I need. I don't want any other school but here! Do what you have to do to get me into this school!"....and I did. Today, my daughter will be entering her third year at Summit View West, and every day that goes by we feel blessed that we are part of this amazing school. Since my daughter started, she has only become more confident in all subjects, and she embraces learning new concepts. The teachers make sure all students are on the same page and, with an understanding of the material before they move on. The administration is always welcoming and hypersensitive to any concerns a parent or student might have. The school is a loving community that looks out of one another. I feel that if anyone leaves a negative yelp comment about Summit View West, it is only out of frustration of not having their child funded by their school's district, or the Help Group does not think the school is the right fit for the child in question. The administration is highly educated, qualified and familiar with making the right decisions that would best fit the students needs.

My son was ACCEPTED! We have been at Summit View West since August 2017. It's now March 2018. We…read morecouldn't be any happier. The staff is so kind to my son and taught him to read! HE'S READING! If you have a child with a learning difference, you know how awesome that is. The specialized reading programs and small class size is really working for him. His teacher is an Angel! She "gets" my son. She takes the time to listen and has been a huge advocate for him. His school counselor is really amazing. She is so well trained in determining the functions of my son's behaviors, offering him tools/strategies that will help him cope. I will continue to post updates as we continue on our journey.
