We stayed at Rittenhouse Inn last year for her birthday and it was nice. But, this place feels like home away from home with the nice touches of a warm welcome. We left our house after work so got here around 5:30PM on a Friday. Elaine had Sandy greet us and she was most welcoming with pamphlets of things to do. She prepared a local wine and cheese/grape platter while we decided for dinner. Plus, there was a bubbly mango sparkling bottle drink too for my birthday. In our room, she had some of Elaine's chocolate brownies ready for us as well. We ended up going to Swensons' Lake House restaurant only a couple blocks away. It was the best decision and recommendation from Sandy. Afterwards, we got the wine and cheese/grape platter from the fridge to relax in the gazebo. It was a nice a private area which we could enjoy the sunset. It was only the 2 of us in the house so it was nice to have some privacy with the house to ourselves. We woke up in the middle of the night and decided to enjoy some treats in the common area upstairs. We helped ourselves to some crackers and hot cider from Kuerig that Sandy showed us earlier. In the morning, we woke up and Sandy prepared our breakfast. We took a short walk around the lake and then to the church and back. Sandy was ready and served us a 3-4 meal breakfast. It started with a vanilla Greek yogurt parfait with cantaloupe, strawberries, and banana. Next, we had sausage with Havarti eggs and dill which was fantastic with some English muffins and homemade jam. Last, we had a bread pudding with whipped cream and chocolate chips. We finally got some great recommendations for hiking and checked out with Sandy. We enjoyed the wine so much that we visited WineHaven to pick up another bottle of the Stinger honey wine. Also, we picked up some of that local cheese down the road at Eichen that Sandy had for us when we arrived.

We eat out a lot in the Twin Cities and the food and quality of our dining experience was comparable to a fancy 4-store restaurant. Venue: The inn looks fairly small from the street, but actually opens up (and down) the bluff with absolutely beautiful views. All of the rooms are clean, quaint and spacious. My personal favorite is the Stoneliegh room. It's very spacious with a four person table to eat breakfast (or dinner) at, a closed porch and a two person tub. Experience: Dave and Amy are friendly, courteous and incredibly accommodating. They maintain the perfect balance of being helpful and friendly, while also giving you your space to enjoy your stay. My boyfriend and I have fallen in love with this place; it's truly a hidden gem only 60 minutes out of the cities.

We did the River Cruise in Taylor's falls and then headed over to our B and B. Super tranquil, the Osecala room is large and serene with a nice view from the balcony. It's on the bottom floor of the house. We haven't had breakfast yet, but it's all farm to table and freshly made so I'm sure it will be great. I'm sure we will be back again for a visit and maybe try another room.

Great find in little Birchwood, WI. A family group of us booked out several of the rooms for a…read morewedding this past weekend, along with 2 other couples (not part of our group) - so it was a full house! Our group loved it. The owner was very nice and you could tell she had put a lot of time into turning the home into her business. The style of the place as very eclectic, to say the least. She had antiques and trinkets everywhere - you could probably sit and stare for hours in each room. :) Every lamp, towel, art piece, window shade, side table, was unique and well placed. She has certainly done her fair share of collecting throughout the years. So if you generally enjoy the bed & breakfast experience, appreciate antiques, sleep well on feather tops and feather pillows, and having a fantastic home cooked breakfast (of course) - this is a spot you will really enjoy. Now - this is where I need to mention something about the other guests that were also staying there. I'm fairly certain they were all around terrible people. I'm writing this portion of the review to combat their threats directed at the owner Mary the next morning. Apparently WE were too loud coming home Saturday night after the wedding. Normally, I'd give some validity to their statement, but this time, I seriously have to question this as we were back by midnight and all of us immediately fell asleep when our heads hit those fabulous feather pillows...it had been a very long day traveling, we were all exhausted! The only noise ANY OF US heard was THEM bagging on the walls every hour. Who knows, they might have been truly crazy people since they waited until well after Owner Mary had cooked and served them breakfast to threaten her with a bad review and they refused to pay her for they stay that night too. ...Oh, AND they claimed that she was much too loud in the kitchen cooking their breakfast. Are you kidding me? I understand these folks were searching for a wedding venue - and as a manager of a high end wedding venue in Minnesota, I'm going to pray for the venue staff at whatever space they end up booking... So I say to these folks, you may need to manage your logging expectations - if you wanted to rest in a place with thicker walls, standard amenities, mediocre stale breakfast, limited customer service, and somewhere you can get away with complaining enough to not pay GO TO A MOTEL next time. Don't wait until after the host has served you breakfast to tell her - A SINGLE BUSINESS OWNER - that you refuse to pay her. Who the hell do these people think they are? Mary - you did a great job, and we truly enjoyed your hospitality. As a hospitality professional, you were on point and I'm sorry that the other folks this past weekend were SO RUDE to you. If I see them again, I'm going slap them.
