When we arrived, there were some different walkways and gardens behind the inn, which were really cool, but at first we weren't sure if we were in the right place! The instructions that Chris and Maryann gave to find each of the rooms was perfect. There was lots of foliage, fountains, swings, benches, tables, different places to hang out each night. Each room had its own theme and flair to it. The detail in the old building was so cool. The rooms were also very large, and had high ceilings! Our suite, River, was so huge. I have stayed in New Orleans before, and some other Inn rooms are difficult to navigate due to being so small. Not at Blue60 ! The descriptions on the website don't do them justice. The rooms were also immaculate.. everything was very clean down to the linens, sofas, floors, etc. We loved being a quick walk to Frenchmen Street, we found ourselves here each night! It was also within a 10 minute walk to the French quarter, Royal street and Bourbon Street. The only Uber we needed to take was to and from the Inn from the airport. There was a fresh market across the street and a Starbucks. We stopped at the market to get waters and snacks! The only concern we had when booking was some reviews saying that Desire & River were "too loud at night." I have to say , I 100% disagree. Both myself and the group in the other room did not have any problems sleeping. Yes it is a streetfront room, but it is a Main Street, so it is quiet. Once or twice through the whole weekend a loud car drove by, but passed within a few seconds.... We were very very happy here! Thank you Chris and Maryann for an awesome experience, we hope to come back sooner than later, and will definitely stay at Blue60!!

Often this type of accommodation is hard to find and in this case, location and amenities cost a little be more. And it was certainly well worth it. CONS - None! +/- - There is currently no breakfast service, although judging by what looked like an unused cafe room (near the pool), there might have been pre-COVID. However, there's lots of breakfast choices nearby. - WiFi works better outside. - As our cottage backed up on St. Louis street, we did hear some noise in the evening and morning. - Our Cottage #5 shares a wall with #6 and at the time our neighbors were a young couple who by the sounds of it were having some great sex. A Dinner and a Show! PROS - Beautiful property and a quiet oasis within the French Quarter where nearly everything was a short walk. - Impeccable outdoor area including wading pool and a huge patio outside our Cottage. A big bonus was the great weather we experience why we were here. - 2 very comfortable beds, nice bathroom/shower, and good temperature control. - Wonderful common living room, with a comfy sitting, and frequently replenished coffee, water, and soft drinks. - Pleasant and hardworking housekeeping staff. - Attentive check-in and check-out support from Sean. Gayle and I would come back here in a heartbeat!

Being stationed in the French quarter meant we could easily walk to anything we wanted and then come back for a nice dip in the pool. Never crowded or busy really because there are only 7 cottages. I 100% wish we had stayed at the St Philip the entire trip. It's quiet and very accessible by foot to every corner of the French Quarter. Our room was 3x the size of our Frenchmen room for the same price, and I was surprised that we actually utilized the kitchenette (which is well stocked with utensils and dishware etc, plus the coffee maker in the room is a plus). The hotel itself is silent which can be hard to find, and I was surprised how much I valued the quiet after 2 nights of Frenchmen street. The only drawback is a lack of parking. There is a lot on Elysian Field (6/7 blocks away) that the desk clerk recommended that's only $20/24 hours but you do need to walk back and put more money in the meter daily, which in the middle of summer in the middle of the day can be an arduous task - to maximize your $20, stay as close to the same time as when you first check the car in (first payment at 3pm, the 24 hrs expires at 3pm the next day). I did see plenty of parking tickets on windshields and a car with a boot all over so, parking laws are definitely enforced. Just as an aside, most hotels with parking or a valet service run $30+/nightly plus you have to tip the driver so $20 is a steal. All in all, the St Philip is a unique, affordable, very comfortable hotel in the heart of the action.

I usually stay at one of the established B&Bs in the Quarter. This time, I found the pickin's slim as there was a Pirate festival in town and Spring Break in full swing. Hearing over and over that there was no room in the inn, I finally found The Sunburst and emailed an availability inquiry. Innkeepers, Darrell and Glen wrote back that, yes, they could take me in their smaller accommodation, the Diamond Room for $85 a night total. The Sunburst is in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, my favorite slice of NOLA, just a few blocks from the Quarter. Glen met me when I arrived with news that I'd been 'upgraded' to the only other accommodation they had, a suite at the front of the house. Aparantly there was a no show! This room is fantastic. It's furnished in antques and oriental rugs, features a big livingroom/sitting area with floor to ceiling windows and an equally large bedroom. The bath is modern and has a dual-head shower. There is a well stocked refrigerator: Milk, Orange Juice, Sodas, Bottled Water, Yoghurt and Cream Cheese, all complimentary. A coffee maker and toaster, bagels, assorted cereals, chips and other goodies are also there. A basket of fresh fruit graces my desk. There's even a computer with interent in the room. It's just 3 blocks from the Phoenix (ok: it's my favorite gutter to fall down into when in New Orleans), and just a few blocks further to the music and good eats on Frenchman St. Really: I don't do 5 stars often (ok: so I lie); but this place is the best. It will be my home in NOLA from now on.

We travel quite a bit and prefer to stay in guest houses/B&B's and private apartments over the hotel/ resorts. The Sunburst Inn was an excellent option for us and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The location is perfect. It's an easy walk to Frenchman and the Quarter just a bit further. It is also a couple of blocks away from the bus stop. There is actually a stop right on the corner of Marigny, but I believe that it is not a pick up stop, just a drop off. The $3 Jazzy Pass is an excellent deal and took us beyond the Quarter. The owners/hosts are friendly, informative and welcoming. Parking was easy and for the most part hassle free. But you really do not need a car. Our room was large, extremely comfortable and very clean. The bed is very comfy and provided us with pleasant nights of uninterrupted sleep. Which is not the norm for me when sleeping in a strange bed. Mind you, they do not bill themselves as a B&B. So don't expect breakfast. They do offer a fridge stocked with soda, water, juice and milk and coffee. They also provide a basket of snacks and cereal. Everything is replenished as needed. If you want a full on brekkie, there are plenty of places nearby. Plus this set up also is great for late night snacks ;) We will definitely return to the Sunburst Inn when our travels take us back to NOLA. Thank you Glenn & Darrell for your hospitality!
