AM. 7/11/21 Seemed like the call was routed to a personal phone - the lady that answered said they don't take reservations -and I must call day I need the cab. Called Sun, they had a 1-2 wait for a pickup!!! Luckily - the hotel found another cab co. that I used. Lancaster,PA use to be a nice place to visit - save your money go somewhere else - hotels now run about $200 + tax night. I've had other negative experiences with this co. in the past- Uber much better - AVOID this company or you'll miss your train or place. read more

Sadly, in Lancaster, the Yellow Cab of Lancaster is the only cab service available. I hear that there used to be another cab service called Friendly (?) cab, but Yellow Cab bought that out. This cab company is pathetic. During the recent snow storm I called and asked if they were open. The dispatcher told me they would be up and running after the driving ban was lifted. I called back 5:30 that evening and was told that they would come for me in about 45 minutes, and that the cab driver would call me when he arrived. They never came and when I called them and hour and a half after my pick-up time they were "not accepting calls." I had to walk the 11 blocks home in the snow. Three days later I stupidly called on them again to come and get me at the train station. They had a hour to get there, but when I stepped out of the station, there was no cab waiting. One by one everyone was picked up by other cabs, friends, and family. I called and the dispatcher who said he made a mistake entering the information, but a cab would be there shortly. I decided to mention that they had blown me off on Saturday and now again. He was full of excuses, and no apologies. I told him they were unprofessional and the least they could have done was to called me back to let me know they were not able to make it on Saturday. A few minutes past, and still no cab arrived. I felt like a fool. There were 4 other cabs parked nearby and I took one of them instead. I advise anyone who needs a ride to call Lancaster City Cabs, or Uber. As we were driving away Yellow Cabs was blowing up my phone to let me know they had arrived. I ignored those calls and texts, and will never call on them again. read more

Haven't used a taxi in a while since Uber came on the scene. But since I needed to catch a 5:35a train, I didn't want to chance not being able to get an Uber ride so I scheduled a taxi. Well now I remember why. The driver didn't even say good morning when I got in the car. He also needed me to give him directions...TO THE TRAIN STATION! When we arrived, he just reached back for payment without saying a word. He processed my card, handed me the receipt and didn't even say thank you. So I just paid $20 for for what would have been a less expensive ($8), more pleasant Uber ride! NEVER AGAIN!! read more

Yellow Cab is the only game in town. They will get you to your destination - if you would like to wait an hour. I called Yellow Cab on a Saturday night at 11:00 PM from the Lancaster, PA train station to go home. I was told by the nice dispatcher that there would be a 35 minute wait. She said the cab driver would call my cell once he arrived. A cab pulled up 27 minutes later and took a group of six college students who called the company after me. No phone call was made to my cell phone. At 11:40 PM, I called the dispatcher back, and she admitted that the college students took the cab that was meant for me. At 11:50 PM, a cab arrived for the husband and wife that called after me. The driver said my name was not on his list. I walked in the door of my apartment at Midnight when my cell phone rang. Another cab driver called me and asked where I was and if I still needed a cab. I explained that I was now home and that another driver assisted me. They'll take you where they think you should go (not where you want), and insult you while doing it. Needed a taxi to get to work at mall at 6am (before the buses were running). Called, and waited for my taxi. At 5:29, I get a call from the taxi: there's someone in the next block who is heading to the same place at the same time, so would I be willing to share a taxi? I say sure, it's inventory week at work with early start times. Cab picks me up at 5:30, then drives to next person's house. Driver tells me person's name, no one I recognize, but there's a lot of ppl at work. Person comes out at 5:47, and driver promises we will get there by 6am. Driver *drives past* the mall, and pulls into a nursing home. Other person pays and gets out. Driver looks at me like he's expecting me to get out. I meet his eyes and say, "This isn't the mall." Driver is confused. Apparently, dispatch made up a destination for me, rather than saying where I actually needed to go. "[Store] at [mall]" does not sound anything like "[Name] nursing home." So, I have to direct driver to where I actually need to go, and I was late for work. Throughout the entire trip, including the "sorry I didn't take you where you needed to go," the driver insisted on calling me "Ma'am." I'm a dude with a full beard. read more

This cab company is awful. Inconsiderate and not reliable. We reserved a cab for 6pm and James said they would be on time to the Doubletree resort to pick us up. Well we are still waiting. I was a little intoxicated and decided to catch a cab home instead of driving last night, so we pull up in front of my house and i give the cab driver my card and registers my card and said it declined, so i tell him to try again, and he does but said it was declined again, so im like how is this even possible when i know i have money in my account and just used my card at the bar & grill, so i aksed to try once more and he does but still the same thing. I have my son bring me out some money and pay the cab driver. I go online the next morning and check my account, here come to find out this man charged my card and got my money! I was furious and called them they made it right by putting my money back on my card, but im wondering how many times has he got over on people without them realizing it! On my behalf, the hotel called this cab service for me for a 6pm pickup. No cab at 6:05pm. Hotel called and they were told that they misunderstood and supposedly was waiting for me at the drop off location. How do you get that wrong? Said be 15 mins. I took an Uber instead barely making my show. At 7pm, when the show was starting, they texted me to say they were outside hotel waiting (an hour late). Called for airport drop off prices. Was quoted about 25% higher than a scheduled Uber ride. Don't use these folks. read more

I understand that review's sometimes skew results negatively because people generally only feel motivated to write a review when they are pissed. That is the reason I never really wanted to write a review before and know to take them with a grain of salt when reading them. However, I am so completely frustrated and angry that not only did I feel obliged to write a review, but signed up to Yelp for the sole purpose of writing this one. I travel to Philadelphia often for my business. I use the train because it's convenient and my lady uses the car for her job. I would say I've gone to Philadelphia 10-15 times this month and have called for a cab to take me to the station many hours or even a day in advance. Three times the reserved cab was significantly late (~30%), two of which I missed my train. And that is the least of my complaints. Coming home I've actually started to experience anxiety. Anxiety because Yellow Cab drivers (the seemingly sole cab company in Lancaster) while they say they "accept" credit card, they really don't - and it's not just they don't - they chastise and yell at you for even asking if they accept credit card, which is what I've had to start asking before getting into the cab in the first place. I don't get home with the pure intention of using a credit card in the cab, making the cabby seemingly pay the fractional of a fee to process the card, but it happens that I don't have anymore cash on me sometimes as I've spent the entire day in the city. And I shouldn't even have to explain myself here in the first place! It's so bad that I've been REMOVED from Yellow Cabs after getting home late on the train and simply trying to get home, because the cabby didn't want to take my card because the distance was short - even after I mentioned I understand his profit small and would tip him generously. Many times I've also been asked to wait to see if another person wanted to join me in the cab to rack up his fare. One cabby even said I would have to wait in his cab while he smoked a cigarette and "we would leave when he was finished or if another person wanted to get in." Yellow Cab: It's late, I pull 12+ hour days even after the commute so I can earn the money used to pay your taxi to take me home. You are supposed to provide a public service which I am paying for and not give me undue stress and anxiety even when I am on the train... worrying if your cab will bring me to my door. I at least hope someone will read this, take it to heart and try not to give Yellow Cab their business. That at least, would be a micro victory. read more

Last Friday, I called requesting a cab to pick up four of us after a dinner, at 9:30 pm. The fellow taking my call was attentive and helpful. At 9:15 the driver called my cell to check the address. He arrived at exactly 9:30! Clean cab. Well spoken, polite driver. read more

Would give 0 stars but of course you can't. Long review but please read. (Date of occurance 12/21) Call company to pick us up, say we need a van and have 7 people. Guy pulls up and has his buddy with him. Whatever, we pile in and ride to the city, no issues. We call them later in the night and same guy(s) show up. On the way home cabbie asks if he can tell us something. Tells us that he hates black people and race mixing (keep in mind I am a mixed race male and so was another male in the vehicle.) Things start getting heated and guy radios in that the people in his cab are making racial comments and is going to call the cops (huh?). Friend flips out and demands he drop us off. Cabbie starts apologizing saying he was only joking and his wife is black. Get dropped off, fare was $25.95. Give him $25 (lucky to get anything) and he yells at us for shorting him (really?!?) Give him $1 and then call a complaint in. Guy tells us he knows exactly who we are talking about and doesn't know why this guy wasn't fired yet. No managers around due to the holidays but will file report and tells us to expect call back Monday. Finally follow up Thursday (12/26) as no one called back and we get a hold of the "owner." He says that they have cameras that record up to 4 days and had we reported the issue right away he could have seen the entire event. We inform him that we called that same night and he feeds us some more BS. He then proceeds to tell us that he told the cabbie (139) that he said something to him about how he needs to watch what he says around people bc some people do not know how to take jokes appropriately!!!! We also tell him how after we were dropped off (~2AM after everything occurred) that my girlfriend received several calls (up to 5:30AM) from the cab driver, which we obviously never answered. The cab driver claims he never called. We tell the owner we have obviously proof (call log, records, etc) and he feeds more BS again. He then has the balls to tell us he hopes he didn't lose our business. Doesn't offer to reimburse fair, half-ass apologizes, basically tells us we just can't take a joke. This is a horrible business with complaints left and right but since they are the only cab company for Lancaster, PA they get away with it and do nothing about it. My entire group of friends and everyone we have told vowed to never use Yellow Cab (they price gouge you anyways) and just always have a DD. My wife and I are home bound - disabled - Doctor called about noon and managed to work us in at about 2pm...Tried to call Lancaster's Ace Cab Company, that being Yellow Cab....Ring, ring, ring...."All of our reps are busy, Hang on"...Hang on and on...And on and on....Gave up...Called Doctor (Whose office CAN answer their phone) and tried to set a date when I can wheel a wheel chair to the Med Campus, if Yellow Cab is all Lancaster has to offer....Talk about two-bit outfits!!..Let's all get together and take up a collection to donate ton Yellow Cab to see if maybe they can hire somebody who isn't too busy to answer their phone... read more

He wouldn't send a cab to meet me at the train station, saying that the cabs don't like doing that (I have done that probably 10 times in the last year). Unfortunately because I no longer have a car and rely on public transportation to get back and forth to work.I live in Columbia but work in Lancaster city.Normally I do not have to deal with yellow cab. Every now and again because of a holiday such as Memorial Day I stay in Lancaster and catch a cab to work. Yellow Cab has now lost a customer I will call the other cab company or an Uber or Lyft. Sunday night I called for a cab to pick me up at 5:30 am. I needed to be to work at 6:00 am. I figured I would put in the call the night before because previous experience with this caused me to be late I would call at 5:15 but would not get a cab until after 6am. Well I waited and waited no cab, at 5:40 I called only to be told they were waiting on a driver. He came at 6:05...needless to say I was still late for work and lost pay. Stop advertising this business as 24 hrs if you do not have available drivers for 24 hrs. They told me because I called in the day before I was a priority...If I was a priority then my cab would have been there at 5:30 and I would not have been late for work... This is literally the worst customer service experience I have ever had. The cab was over an hour late and I called dispatched twice inbetween who continuously lied to me about the pickup time. I asked multiple times when the cab would be there and the response was 'we will get there when we get there we are very busy'. Unacceptable. The dispachers were also more than rude when I called and multiple times just tried to hang up on the conversation. read more
