I have written a review of my experience with Dr. Lapidus before, but today, I had an experience that reveals the advantage of being a member of her Concierge practice. I pulled a muscle in my thigh two days ago and the pain was so excruciating that I could barely stand up, much less walk. I found a walking stick I used for hiking and managed to get around even though I was in pain. I called her office for an appointment. Nancie, her skilled and friendly nurse, answered the phone and told me to come in an hour later. I hobbled into the office and was taken to an examination room. Dr. Lapidus came in, made a quick assessment, and had the problem solved in less than 20 minutes. She gave me two injections and then placed a new device she discovered called a "Pain Pod" over the area on my leg. One part of it is attached to the center of your pain and the other is a power supply that also sends electrical impulses to stimulate the muscle and relieve the pain. It has a USB cable to charge the unit. My experience is an example of how caring and knowledgeable Dr. Lapidus is. Most medical professionals are on a strict time schedule that only allows for a 5 minute consultation and they usually prescribe opiods that are addictive. Unfailingly, I feel welcomed and well cared for by the entire team. I'm home. Dr. Lapidus has a passion for learning. Just because she's earned her credentials, doesn't mean she feels like she's 'arrived'. She will never stop studying and adding new, innovative treatments and adjuncts that compliment her expanding practice. This is a handy, desirable trait to look for when choosing a physician; having someone not willing to be satisfied with 'how it's always been done'. Dr Lapidus no longer practices at Seven Peaks. She is now located at 6627 Bay Laurel Place, Avila Beach CA. I have been SO pleased to be a patient of Dr. Lapidus. She is the ONLY doctor to take my medical concerns seriously. I saw several other doctors and received little to no care. I was frequently told, "you're perfectly healthy." Dr. Lapidus ordered extensive lab work and was able to quickly diagnose me with a condition that I had told other doctors I was sure I had. Since seeing her my condition has improved substantially. I am SO happy and grateful that I found her. The new patient paperwork is definitely lengthy, but it asks very important questions. It is difficult to get an appointment with her. My next appointment is a month from now. But it is worth it. She is an integrative doctor so she frequently tries to offer a natural solution rather than getting right into prescribed medications. The primary difference is any current patient could schedule an appointment that day and be in and out in 25 minutes. I was the office staff in total for two years in Hawaii and the years in SLO with one other employee. Our patients respected us in treatment, expenses and being able to get an appointment the same day at any time. My policy was if I could not schedule any current patient that day then I stopped taking patients. Time is of the essence in medicine. A bladder infection will not wait a month. Also your appointment was 15 minutes. If you were five minutes late your appointment was ten minutes. 10:00 means the physician greets you in the waiting room and you have her complete attention until 10:15. Notice on this site any actual patient gave rave reviews and the people who were not patients gave one or two. The secret of being the best and most liked is to only take those patients who not only fit the type of treatment offered but respect the physician and staff time. After you turn in your new patient information Dr. Lapidus reviews it and decides if she wants to accept you as a new patient. She picks and chooses who she wants to see. Update: this office is not in SLO - she has moved to Avila Beach. Before you judge me for posting a review without ever having met the doctor, let me tell you, I TRIED. Like several other reviews, I filled out the new patient paperwork and scheduled me for a new patient appointment. I had to wait 2.5 months and a week before my date, the office called and informed me that "the doctor would not be available to see me the coming week". I was then informed that they were scheduling TWO MONTHS in the future. Incredulous, I asked why I would not be rescheduled for a sooner date but the receptionist didn't have an answer and did not attempt to explain. I took the next appointment but promptly found another doctor, who I saw 2 weeks later. However, I kept the appointment with Dr. Lapidus, just in case. HAHAHA, the joke was definitely on me. Just today, a week before the rescheduled appointment (which thankfully I didn't need!), the office again called to say that the doc wouldn't be seeing me and they needed to reschedule. By the way, I'm in my 30's, have good insurance and am in good health. Clearly, there is some UNETHICAL initial procedure going on here because to fill out the lengthy new patient documents and then to cancel 2 appointments in 5 months with no explanation - talk about false hope that you will ever be seen! I want a female doctor but get a grip, that kind of treatment is NOT WORTH IT. Lastly, if a doctor isn't really taking new patients and is too busy, have the courtesy to be honest. read more

I contacted this doctor in August, 2013 for some health concerns and strange symptoms I was experiencing. I completed a very lengthy new patient packet, after which time I was informed that since the Doctor was taking a long vacation in September, she would not be able to see me until she returned. The office manager referred me to another general practitioner, with whom I have been quite pleased. Since I also was looking for a gynecologist, the office manager said that she would contact me late September / October to schedule an appointment once the Doctor returned from vacation. I finally got in touch with them recently, and the office manager (this time) informed me that my paperwork had been denied from the start and that the Doctor is not seeing any new patients. But that she could put me in the "pending" folder. No thanks, would have been nice to know months ago that she wasn't taking new patients - period. Additionally, they were and still are advertising with Blue Shield that they are accepting new patients. If I'm being lied to about the status of my file, whether or not new patients are being accepted, and appointment scheduling - is this really a doctor I'd like to trust with medical matters. Seems like buddy G is in the same boat with the same awful service I received recently (Sept 2013). Although the doctor herself is amazing her staff member that i delt with is the most rude, condesending individual i have ever encountered. She put me on hold til i calmed down like I was a child in time out. I was not yelling but crying due to the fact that I could not get a refill on my inhaler (which i need to breathe) until i came in for a visit which i do not have insurance anymore. No warning nothing. I am blown away at the lack of care and concern for your patients that your nurse had. I am 40 years old and was treated like a child. I have had them PLENTY of times before say we will give you this refill but you must return for a visit before we will refill another which is VALID!!! I have been going to Ms. Lapidus for 6+ years and will not be returning due to this very incident. Shame on you for letting someone with such little compassion be the voice of you. Instead I will cost this great nation another debt by entering the emergency room and not pay the bill due to the financial hardship that we all face. Asthma doesnt go away over night it NEVER goes away. I cant even buy a damn over the counter one to survive until monday. Where is the sense in any of this!!!
