Great physician. Sad to see his practice move entirely to a concierge healthcare provider only.

Without a doubt, Dr. Hilty is one of the very best (if not the best) doctors I've ever dealt with…read more When he is talking with you, you are the most important person in the room. He is totally focused on what you say and answers questions in clear terms. Dr. Hilty is not the least bit standoffish, and a conversation with him is enjoyable. Dana, his nurse/technician, is also a pleasure to deal with. Both have a good sense of humor -- kind of useful in the health care arena these day. If you get a blood test or send him anything, he calls you the day he receives it to discuss the results or to confirm receipt. No guessing about "did he get it?" First time I've ever had a doctor take that approach. Luckily, I am pretty healthy, and as far as I can tell, Dr. Hilty wants me to stay that way.

His MDVIP-affiliated practice is open to new patients, including Medicare and commercially insured, in San Luis Obispo. Dr. Hilty sees fewer patients, which means he has more time to offer. Similar to concierge medicine physicians, Dr. Hilty is available 24/7 by phone. His practice offers the MDVIP Wellness Program, which includes advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests that have been shown to help detect issues earlier.

Great Medical Care, Disorganized Administration…read more I am torn in writing this because the medical care has been mostly good. Kelli is fine....Spencer (PA) and the shot specialists are kind, helpful, and provide great care for my son. However, the administrative side of this practice is incredibly frustrating and disorganized. We have spent two months following a "maintenance schedule" that was explicitly confirmed by the office both in person and over the phone, only to be told two months later that their records were wrong and my son is now three visits behind. This level of miscommunication has effectively wasted two months of progress. Beyond this major error, the office is nearly impossible to reach. Calls are rarely answered, it takes days to get a return call, and portal messages are often met with short or dismissive responses. It is a shame that such a high level of clinical care is overshadowed by such poor office management. If you choose this office, be prepared to meticulously track every date and record yourself, as their internal communication is unreliable.

Proactive right there. She had her assistants do in Office breathing tests. I assisted a friend who has had a chronic cough for years . Dr Rose understood the aggravation and the need to get to the bottom of it. Went over the plan of attack and we left with hope and understanding.

Not only is it difficult to get an appointment, I have been hung up on, while in the middle of a sentence only to be transferred to the automated system to rate my experience - but the system did not work - neither my touchtone entry nor my voice response were accepted. In addition, we are constantly receiving notifications that we owe $ for our copays - for which we have all of the receipts for the total amount owed. Patient portal messages are not always responded to - or we are directed to call the office or make an appointment. As a long term patient, I find it hard to understand why I must wait for 5 - 8 MONTHS to see my designated primary care physician. When I called in August to make my annual appt, the first available was in December. The front office staff member stated that I could not see the doctor within a year of my last appt because my insurance would not pay for it. Totally untrue - my insurance provider verified for me. The front office is loud as staff are talking and giggling between patients - there is no confidentiality when discussing personal information. I wish I had some positive things to say - other than the fact that the office is clean and back office staff are friendly and professional.
