While I've had a number of their truffles and have loved each one... my favourite are their violet creams! Theirs are just perfection... the dark chocolate is just the right thickness and snaps when you bite into it allowing the cream to ooze out, but a very slow, it-isn't-going-to-end-up-on-my-shirt sort of ooze. The violet cream inside is nicely flavoured and it is creamy, not this crumbly, soap-like stuff you get at other places. I usually get a small bag to take with me and ration out for the next couple of weeks and surprisingly they hold up!

I leave a message, they text back to say they are sending another (and another small gift) and it should arrive Monday, today. Royal Mail deliver late morning here, and milk man delivers about an hour earlier. I spent £56 on getting f##### over and I'm so angry. Don't waste your money on these 'premium' chocolates. They can't even get their deliveries correct and I paid for priority delivery. No offer of refunds, plus their chocolates have a three month best before date. Not pleased at all.

The nice lovely chocolate shop has recently moved into this refurbished premises across the road in…read morethe centre of Barnard Castle. Before it was just a small shop selling quantity chocolate & ice cream. Now it's a warm inviting establishment with a couple of tables to have tea & coffee then have quality Belgium chocolate. The owner/staff are very welcoming & eager to assist. The layout of the products is very inviting. I'm sure it will be a unique place amongst the many coffee shops in the town. Just purchased chocolates for Xmas gifts this time but will return for coffee another time.

On a light industrial estate outside Leyburn, plenty of parking. Walk through the shop into the…read morefactory. Big picture windows let you spy on a woman bashing a tea towel with rolling pin. Three giant chocolate fountains (tempering machines) are mildly hypnotic. That's pretty much the extent of the factory, basically they melt chocolate and pour it into moulds. The star attraction is yet to come, however... Then you can sit on a school form bench to watch "the story of chocolate" DVD on a burnt-in projector. Don't miss it, ask the lady in the shop to start it up, you're in for a treat! To the accompaniment of Mantovani style sweeping strings a soporific woman reminiscent of the Caramel rabbit, or perhaps Nigella Lawson, narrates, really enjoying saying "cocoa butter". Then you see real people showing the moulding process, with occasional lascivious interjections from Nigella: "making the fillings", "take a look in the gift shop where you can buy all the chocolate you desire". Kitsch taken to the nth degree. Plenty of laminated thank-you notes from local schoolkids on the wall, obviously a popular attraction, I bet it's not for the DVD though. Shop selling overpriced overpackaged chocolate at the exit.
