Stopped responding after responding that the tickets were non refundable (even though THEY cancelled) because they want me to enjoy an exceptional event with them. No refunds is an okay policy if it's the customer cancelling, but if they cancel they should refund when they aren't able to provide the service you paid for. read more

We got a Groupon for a Paint Nite at Lumpy's, and it was really fun! I was SUPER nervous (I'm not talented at all, and I just didn't know what the vibe would be like) but I'm so glad we went. Our teacher was so funny, and she did a great job of breaking the ice and making everyone laugh and feel comfortable. I feel that is was the perfect length of time, and everything was set up well. It seemed to be popular for date nights and ladies nights, which makes sense. From what I overheard there were quite a few returning customers, which I thought was surprising but cool. This was such a wonderful experience, I have never painted before in my life, so this was fun to give it a try. I thought my painting would be horrible and couldn't understand how it was going to work. The teacher was funny, friendly, and lighthearted, she was also so helpful. I took my husband and he was the only man, but he enjoyed himself too. I love that they do this at a bar on their slow nights to help bring them some business, it's kind of neat. We painted at Zest, an organic gluten free bar. We decided to hold off eating dinner due to there bit being much room, but did get the hummus veggie appetizer, it was good, and of course some alcohol. Overall, I recommend this to all :) read more

Paint Nite is the third Utah painting establishment I've taken a class from, following Paint Mixer and Painting with a Twist. Depending on what the painting student is looking for, opinions may vary. For me, it's not just a fun night out with friends and drinking cocktails. I want to paint something I can hang up in my house. The difference is that Paint Nite doesn't have their own facility. But that's the basis of their business model. Their website states, "Paint Nite is a new concept of blending two timeless pastimes, artistic painting and drinking cocktails, as a way to draw patrons into local pubs on a slow night with a unique opportunity to socialize and be creative." Their classes are held at different pubs ranging from Red Rock to Piper Down. The class I took was held at Zest Kitchen & Bar. The space they used to set up the chairs and easel was fairly cramped. I had to consistently scoot in and out to let the obnoxious guy who made multiple trips to the bar pass by. Since you are free to order food from the restaurant's menu, the woman next to me ordered a full entree. But since there's nowhere else to set her food, she set it in between her easel and mine. Not exactly her fault but the amount of space we had to work with our painting tools was already limited. The instructor had no microphone so it was super hard to hear her without standing up, especially if you're sitting farther back. For this reason, I can't critique the instructor because I don't know if I missed her instructions or if she didn't do a good job showing us how to paint the desired artwork. This is one downside to Paint Nite versus the other establishments that have their own speaker system to connect to the instructor's microphone. Since they're currently doing a deal on GroupOn, their classes fill up quick. Not ideal for planning an activity with more than 4 friends unless you all register together or you want to book a private event. I tried to get some girlfriends to come with me but since they were registering on their own, some of them couldn't register anymore cause the class had filled up by then. I had an okay experience, considering that I used a GroupOn to get a discount on registration. Most of their classes are normally $45.00, which is more expensive than Paint Mixer and Painting With A Twist. That doesn't include a drink either. If the class is downtown, chances are you'll have to spend a couple extra dollars for parking too. For some, drinking cocktails and socializing might be the bigger priority. So the uncomfortable seating situation might not be a concern. But for those who are like me who are just looking to paint and paint well, we just might better off at the Paint Mixer or Painting With A Twist. The seating's more roomy. The instructor can be heard no matter where you sit. You get a free drink. The parking is free. And the cost is cheaper if you don't have a GroupOn. This is not to say I wouldn't come back. But it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

i came here with sylvia m. so we could check out this new plant nite event. it's from the same company as paint nite and you can make reservations on their website. the concept is that they have these events at different bars and restaurants around the city, so you can drink and eat while participating. we had both bought groupons, but if you pay full price it's $45. plus they charge you an additional $10 for supplies. trust me, $55 total is not worth it for this event. i spent a total of $35 with my groupon and i felt so ripped off afterwards. i can't imagine anyone paying full price for this. we chose a table and they passed around the containers we'd be using. we were given instructions and then each table was allowed to go up to the material section to start creating their terrarium. first we put rocks in, then dirt, then they passed around succulents. afterwards, we put moss and colored rocks on top. the instructor later came around to let us each pick one plastic dinosaur to put in our completed terrarium. the event itself seemed awkward and disorganized. there was a lot of time that felt wasted while we were just waiting for our turn to go get our materials. it was hard to eat bar food as your hands are dirty from being in the dirt. you could wash your hands, but then you'd be touching rocks/dirt/moss again. plus the colored moss stains your hands, so be careful with that. i think a better system would be to have all the material on the individual tables already or to have several stations set up instead of just one for like 30 people. i wasn't a fan of plant nite and wouldn't come back. paint nite is way more fun and it feels more interactive. read more

We love paint nite. This was our 3rd time doing it. All at different locations. This time it was at Bar Down in West Jordan. Met the bar owner and Selina is very nice. We arrived early and got a few drinks and chips and salsa. I would suggest arriving to Paint Nite early to reserve your seating, especially if you have more than a few in your group. Blossom was our instructor and she was fun. She told jokes and had a great sense of humor. She was very helpful and would come around to make sure we were mixing the colors the way we wanted them and to show us different techniques. Paint nite is great. Last weekend I bought 2 tickets for $100 on their website. Literally 2 hours later (46 hours before the event) I tried to cancel or reschedule and was told no to the refund. I was told I could reschedule for a 40% fee. That's right 40% fee. My fee would have been $40 just to reschedule. Do not buy tickets unless you are 100% sure that you will not have to reschedule. It appears they are trying to make a buck off your misfortune. This is a very short sighted policy. read more

This was my first Paint Nite experience and it was hosted at Squatter's last Sunday afternoon. When I got there, I wasn't sure where the actual painting was going to take place since there were no signs and the dining area was completely full. After asking, it was nice to see that there was the entire upstairs area reserved just for the class. The instructors were really friendly and prompt when it came to getting everyone checked in. The materials provided were all brand new, and the instructions were communicated over a microphone so there was no difficulty with hearing. The class had a total of 40 people and was 2 hours long. I felt a little bit rushed at times, especially when I would run out of paint and have to wait for the assistant to come around and give me more, but with so many paintings around, it was easy to see what was needed to be done next. There were a couple of 5-10 minute breaks to allow our paintings to dry before moving on to the next step, but there weren't any dryers to speed this process if you were a little behind. Overall, this was a fun experience and a nice gift for one of my girlfriends even though painting is not high up on my list of things to do on the regular. read more

I've painted with Paint Night before because I love the picture they posted. And I was willing to get there early enough to reserve a seat on the end of a table. I just wish they had more space at their classes. And that you could count on the lighting to be better, but they are held in bars - so what can you expect. You never know until you get there. Not a great experience! Our painting event was at the Unita Brewing Company in West Valley. It was very hard to find. My phone's navigation couldn't find it and my friends had similar problems finding the location. The pub didn't answer their phone and so we couldn't get directions either. Because it took us a while to find their location, we had just received our meal when we were called to paint. We had to pack up our food and forget it. The paint event was NOT a great experience! There was approx. 45 people and one instructor, no helpers or assistants, nothing. If you got behind you could pretty much write off having your painting look good. Not only that they ran out of paper plates for us to mix our paint. Not at all impressed! The event was a gift from a friend and she wasted her money on me. I am not an artist as it is, then add on having to work at a fast pace, it was stressful and awful! Since there was only the one instructor she was little help to no help for those of us who fell behind. I stayed until the event was supposed to get over at 3:00 pm and then left. Would not recommend this to anyone, it is truly a waste of money! read more
