Wish I could rate it lower, much lower. I have 3 main issues with this establishment; cleanliness, safety and the staff. Upon entering this venue I was greeted with a smell of feet and vinegar, always welcoming. As me and my 2 friends were tired from shopping we decided to ignore the stench and just have a drink. I work in a bar myself so always critique other bars when entering them but this was extraordinary. I went to use the toilets and directly infront of the entrance to the girls toilets is a cleaning cupboard, I know this because it was left wide open exposing cleaning products, appliances and wires. Very childsafe hmmm. After returning back to my table me and one of my friends went to order drinks, and were rudely told I want to see your ID and the ID of anyone who you're with. I'm 19 and the friend with me at the bar is 20 so we laughed and took out our driving licences and shouted over to our 26 year old friend at the table she needed to come show her ID too. My 26 year old friend is hungarian, as is her driving licence which she produced. Now, this driving licence is in english and clearly stated her date of birth but was unsatisfactory to the bar staff who refused to serve her as the identification wasn't a British driving licence. Seems a little discriminative, no? We decided to take our custom elsewhere and were watched leave by the manager, I'm guessing he came down to watch us leave to intimidate us, as thats how we felt. Discriminating, dirty and dangerous. That's Yates's Nottingham! read more
