I had to wait 55 minutes for my appointment. She wasn't even there when I arrived. She was friendly enough, but when I went for my follow up appointment, I was 15 mins late (it takes 10 minutes to walk from the parking to her room in the mall) and she had left. I called, and she said "Good luck to you." The microblader I went to to finish the job said this about my brows.: "The shape and shading don't seem to match your natural structure well. It looks too dark for your features. I would have chosen a softer look. The shape is pushed too far above your natural brow line and the arch looks quite harsh. Also your left brow looks puffier and more raised than the right, which affects balance and symmetry. Your brows need correction, not just a simple touch up." "It seems like not enough care was taken in choosing the right artist." I purchased this through Groupon, my permanent and costly mistake. read more

The whole session took less than 20 minutes which I was surprised about because I had a lot of growth. You could tell she's done this a million times and she was very thorough. The first time I went here, I made an appointment for 10am on a Tuesday. I drove all the way from west LA to use a groupon. I get there and the place is closed, door locked, dark. I call and am told that I never made an appointment, who did I speak to, blah blah. I felt accused of lying. I was embarrassed. Shouldn't it be the opposite? Shouldn't they have apologized for their mistake and welcomed my business? They managed to squeeze me in after I waited about 45 minutes for someone to come open the place AND do an appointment before mine. I stupidly made another appointment for today to go back for a fill before my cruise tomorrow. I liked how the lashes turned out and I thought what happened the first time was a freak accident. They just called me at 10am to cancel my 1pm appointment today. Never have I had a business cancel their appointment with me! Now I have to go on my cruise with crazy looking lashes because no where else can fit me in so last minute. I purchased a Living Social voucher for this place after reading up on their original hype. I was looking forward to it and making an appointment was easy and convenient. However, after I made my appointment, i received two phone calls reminding me of my appointment and a firm reminder to be on time. Okay, I get it. I'll be on time. First of all, the location is interesting. It's a single room in a location shared by many small 1-room businesses. This is not a spa or salon. It is ONE room. OK, i can handle that too. Well, I was 10 minutes early and waited outside while they finished up with another client. I waited 40 minutes. If you tell me to be on time, I expect you to be on time as well, give or take 5 minutes or something like that. Not half an hour late! Problem #1. Problem #2: I got the impression that the esthetician was a newbie. She was nervous, didn't exhibit proper technique, was awkward, and hurt. I have had brazilians before. They have never hurt as much as she did, and I've never experienced bruising! WTF?! Problem #3: When I got home, I showed off my wax "service" to my husband and was appalled to learn that the esthetician hadn't been thorough all the way around. Problem #4: Because of her poor technique, ingrown hairs abound. I had a groupon for eyelash extensions, and after a horrible previous lash extension experience somewhere else, I was nervous about how it would go this time around. I got Ylena, and while she seemed a little rushed in the beginning because she was so busy, she was very kind and gentle on my lashes. I could tell she was a lot more professional than the last place - there was no yanking on my lashes or scolding when I would blink! The spa was very clean and sterile and I was perfectly relaxed and comfortable. After about an hour and twenty minutes we were done (you lay near a fan for a few minutes) and WOW, my lashes look gorgeous. I went in with a challenge for her because of the horrible last experience, I had to trim my eye lashes on one side to remove some adhesive (don't ask). She did an amazing job considering what she had to work with. I'm very happy with the first day's results and go back in a week for her to fill in the remainder. For people worried that it's not a "full set" the first time, it looks full. You're not even going to notice. It will be fine. I'll come back after a couple weeks to update how they stayed on :) See my before and after picture to see how it looks! update - two months later. My full set was AMAAZZZZING! I went on vacation to Thailand and these lashes stayed on through jungle trekking, scuba diving, drunken wave surfing... DO NOT HESITATE to go here for lashes. I was in the Valley on an extended business trip and needed a waxing before spending some time poolside. I found this place based on proximity to my hotel & availability. When I called to make an appointment I got voicemail but received a call back immediately from Yana. That's just the beginning of her great customer service. The studio is a space in a larger building that houses other beauty businesses. This was my first time in this type of location. Yana's studio is small, tasteful and private. There is no waiting area, it's just one small room. Yana was very professional and efficient. She uses a hard wax that doesn't require muslin strips. Germophobes, rejoice: she also does not "double dip" the wooden sticks in the wax which is great, especially when using the wax on any, uh, sensitive areas. This is a great place! read more

This is my second time ever writing a review, but I had to because of how awesome Yana is. I've had my share of waxes from multiple estheticians and I can genuinely say Yana was the best, and LESS painful than them all. It may be because of the hard wax she uses (no paper), however, I've had this type of wax done from others and it was still pretty painful. I have a high tolerance for pain in regards to waxing, but I'm telling you, if you want your first experience to be 50% less hurtful than your friends claim - go here. I realized that I never did complete a review, even though I found this place through Yelp some time ago. The type of wax Yana uses has permanently rocked my world, and I panic whenever I have scheduling issues that force me to go elsewhere. It smells great and feels smoother and "creamier" than any other wax that has ever been used on me. Makes an otherwise unpleasant act soooo much better. Also, communication is via text which I thought was very convenient. I had my appointment with Yana and she is great! OVERALL: Absolutely awful, horrible experience. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The woman who waxed my eyebrows (the owner) was very rude, and handled me like a piece of meat - very harshly and carelessly. The whole time she was working on me, she was speaking - in Russian - to the next customer, who was in the room with us. No personal touch or customer service tactics whatsoever. I waited 3 weeks to post my review in an effort to offer an honest perspective. I too came here with a Groupon which offered a full set + 1 fill (within a week) for $89. Making an appointment was easy. They seemed busy, but were able to accomodate me. I got a confirmation text the day before and I got a text that Elena was running a bit behind the day of, which I appreciated. I arrived at the time I was asked and found easy metered parking right in front. Up until that point, all was well and good. When I walked in I introduced myself to the person that I thought was the receptionist but she was not very welcoming. I was asked for my groupon again (I had provided the info over the phone days before), and I complied. I signed the waiver and was handed some lash care extensions, I then learned that this woman was Elena, the techinician that would be working on my lashes. She asked me what I wanted my lashes to look like and then instructed me to lay down and close my eyes. That was all she said before she began to do her thing. She never explained anything to me, gave me any direction or any warnings. This was the first time I'd had my lashes done, and I was nervous. A little walk-thru or brief explanation of the process would have been nice. This made the process unnerving and not relaxing as other reviewers have stated. Glue got in my eye a few times but because I never got any instruction, I wasn't sure if I was going to go blind or if it was normal. Anyway, the process continued, an Elena seemed to be very detailed from what I could tell. About 45 minutes into the process she asked if I wanted fewer lashes now and then to come back for my fill or if I wanted extra lashes now and I would not have to come back. I opted to come back, but she swayed me to do it all at that moment, and because I wasn't sure how I felt about my experience, I agreed and told her to do all the lashes at once (this felt a bit like a bait & switch). I'd only planned on being there 1 hour, i had not filled my meter beyond that, so Yana fed it for me, which I appreciated. The process soon ended, and although the last few minutes felt very rushed (her next appointment was waiting) the results were beautiful. I'm on my third week, which I didn't expect I'd reach without a fill. I get endless compliments even now with fewer lashes and despite thinking that I would not continue with the lashes, I am very tempted to book my fill. I think Elena does a good job, and the studio is clean and in a nice location, but customer service is EVERYTHING, so I do believe they could use some improvement in making their clients feel a little more at ease, especially if you are trying to build a continual client base that trusts you with their eyes. I'm pleased with her work and I've passed her name on to several friends and colleages, but I have to be honest about the areas that need improvement. read more

So I would originally rate this place a 4 but... My 4 friends and I brought Groupons for 2 sessions for $49. We had read the reviews over yelp and wanted to make our appointment with Yana, who most people raved about. All 5 of us went in and were pleased with the initial experience. Then we made our appointments on the same day about 1.5 months away for Yana AGAIN because she was very gentle with us, being that it was our very FIRST time ever having this done. I honestly thought that after I had my second session, I was going to come back again to have it done on a regular basis...but I don't think so anymore. When it was getting close to our second appointments, our plans changed and so 3 of us had to cancel our appointments, leaving the other 2 to keep the original appointment. They had gone in and the receptionist had claimed that they didn't make the appointment with Yana so they stuck them in with another person. My friends came out of there and said it was painful. One of my friends who usually has high tolerance for pain even thought it was painful...so it got the 3 of us thinking... So I called to confirm our appointment the day before to see if it is with Yana. And the receptionist said it was with another person. So I cancelled my appointment and my other friend's appointment. That left only 1 friend for that day. I made the appointment for her originally so I asked her if she wanted to keep it since it wasn't with Yana. She said no, she'd rather not. So I called back to reschedule and the receptionist gave me a hard time! I was trying to be as nice as possible and 1. she started to tell me that I needed to give her a 24-hour notice before I cancel anything, which I understood. I started to tell her that I only remembered my appointment because my phone reminded me and I told her that she didn't give us a reminder call the day before like she did the first time. She says she only does it when it's completely booked and that she wants to make sure that people keep their appointment. I continue to tell her that she needs to be consistent. If you give reminder calls, then you will have to be consistent because customers, like me, will rely on those calls. 2. so after that I want to continue to schedule an appointment for my peeps with Yana again and the receptionist said that since we are GROUPON holders, we can't only request Yana and that there are other aestheticians too. So she started telling me all these restrictions/limitations about being GROUPON holders. Mind you, these restrictions were not stated on the Groupon itself. So then, I told her that the only reason why we want to make an appointment with Yana was because our 2 friends had a very painful experience with another aesthetician so we are very traumatized. So she continues to say that she understands and that she will bring this up to Yana and she will let me me know regarding the appointments since I can't make an appointment for the following weekend because Yana was booked. 3. Today, when I wanted to make appointments with Yana again for a weekday (like the receptionist recommended) for the 3 of us, she continues to say that Yana only accepts 2 Groupon holders per day. We were suspecting that they would push us around since we had bought the coupon that's why I made the call to confirm our appointment. Because when we were all there on the first time to schedule our 2nd session, we were ALL sure that we definitely made it with Yana! So us Groupon holders, were pressured to see another aesthetician with less experience just because we got a discounted rate. This is how this place treats GROUPON holders??? If so, how do they expect the Groupon holders to become regular customers? Because it certainly persuaded me NOT to become a regular customer!!!! read more

I went to see Yana a month or so ago. The location is very close to my home and I arrived a few minutes early. The lady at the front desk seemed new and didn't know where the paperwork was that I need to fill out. The room was extremely cold and she didn't put anything over my clothes to protect it from the flying chemicals that she used on my face. I explained to her that I wanted my skin to be clearer and smoother I had made an appointment for a peel but Yana convinced me to do a microdermabrasion. When I looked around the room it doesn't seem like she has received any formal education per say in skincare but perhaps took some classes and received a certification for a specific line of products. I could be wrong that was just my interpretation. When she would give me explanations and I asked for further details she didn't really seem as if she knew what she was talking about. She also seemed to be contradicting herself a lot. She told me that I would notice a difference in my skin right away. She also did not do any extractions which I thought was odd. When the session was over and I was asking her what products I should use on my skin and if she had any samples I should use she didn't know and didn't have any samples which I thought was strange. When I looked at my skin it looked really irritated. When I pointed this out to her and told her she got extremely defensive and I asked her what I should do if it didn't improve. She didn't seem like a professional business woman in the way she responded. She told me she has NEVER had any issues with anyone in the past which I find hard to believe. Even the best person probably has received complaints. She told me to let her know if I had any problems. I emailed her a few days later to tell her that my skin had started peeling and she never responded. I reached out again and seemed dismissive like she didn't want to be bothered. My first experience with Novalash was just right down the street from B&B. It was painful even after. I couldn't sleep without the fear of ruining them or them pinching my eyes, couldn't shower without the fear of them twisting all over the place. I even bought a special conditioner for them. I really wanted this to be a good experience for my wedding and honeymoon! $250 dollars later, me and my bald eyes faced 2 months of having no lashes. I vowed never to do it again. BUT when I saw B&B Groupon deal, it was too good to pass up. I'm Asian. As you can imagine, short, straight lashes and no lids...eyelash extensions are a dream I didn't want to give up just yet. I heard how Yana was so wonderful and I really wanted her but I got Ylana. I LOVE HER. She was professional, kind and really knew her stuff. This experience was so different from my first! I don't even feel the lashes and i'm not scared in the shower. I've been sleeping just fine. I go back for a touch up soon and I'm ecstatic.
