Had a GREAT lunch today at the Jardin D' Asie. Andy B. is right- This place is huge! They have a…read moredining area as you walk in the door to the right and left, a little hall way that opens up to another dining area in the back with a bar on the right. Then there is a beautiful staircase with foliage all the way up where there is another dining area. There are plants and flowers everywhere. While waiting on the food to come, you can try to figure out which is live and which is fake. (hard to do without touching it) This place is pure class. Dark gray tile on the floor. Dark brown wood chairs and tables, rich red paint with big, beautiful pictures on the wall and the wait staff all in black. Very classy. My waitress and everyone I encountered today spoke enough English to explain the menu and everything having to do with the restaurant experience. My starter today was a "Rouleaux de printemps" (5€) Spring roll, served cold with lettuce, carrot, noodles, peanut a hint of cilantro and mine had shrimp wrapped in rice paper. (They also had chicken and beef) It was served with a dipping suace made up of a very light, mild vinegar sauce. It was garnished with lettuce and a cut carrot- for extra fanciness. My entre was "Poulet Jardin d'Asie" (6.50€) which was chicken with peas, green beans, carrots, lettuce, baby corn, onion, peas, bamboo shoots in a yellow coconut curry sauce. It also came with fried or steamed rice. I chose the fried rice which had peas, carrot, egg and tiny chunks of chicken. They don't have low sodium soy sauce in France. Probably because their health care is free. :) So heads up American's: Bring that blood pressure medicine. After lunch, I had a Petite espresso with 1 giant lump of sugar and a super tiny chocolate chip cookie (which was yummy). It's also worth knowing that the bathrooms were private men and woman's bathrooms. Mine was spotless and decorated beautifully. I've included some great pics. Check them out. If you're in the area and craving Chinois- you are in for a treat with this restaurant! Delicious food, friendly wait staff that works incredibly hard to make sure you have a GREAT experience. Loved it!

A nice French spin on Thai Chicken curry. Not as spicy as I like, but flavorful. If this is an…read moreindication of the whole menu, then I might be back on this trip!

Kobushi is a cute little sushi restaurant with a French twist. When I say little, I mean two…read moretables that seat between 3 and 4 people, and 2 seats at the bar (although there are some items on the bar that make it seem as though people don't generally dine there). The restaurant is owned and seemed to be completely run by a very nice woman named Najette (I may have spelled that incorrect). She was born in Avignon, but learned to make sushi in Marseille. She mentioned she will be traveling to Japan in October to learn even more (not sure if that will impact the restaurant being open). While we were there, she took the orders, made the food, and did the dishes - all with a smile and warmness about her! To start, we had a lovely rose wine (for just 16 euro) and miso soup. The miso was a very generous portion. We were brought a sample of torched salmon nigiri which was quite tasty. For dinner, my husband and I ordered Plateau France - Japon. This came with 5 different rolls, most with a French twist, such as foie gras! This combo also came with a traditional California roll for the less adventurous foodie. While I wouldn't say this was the best sushi I've ever tasted, I certainly appreciated the creativity behind the menu. The ambiance in Kobushi is very hip and modern, as well as romantic. There is some cool track lighting, and soft music playing as well. If you are looking to venture off the standard French menus, and a fan of sushi I would definitely recommend Kobushi. Since it is so small I would definitely call ahead for a reservation.
