Had a GREAT lunch today at the Jardin D' Asie. Andy B. is right- This place is huge! They have a dining area as you walk in the door to the right and left, a little hall way that opens up to another dining area in the back with a bar on the right. Then there is a beautiful staircase with foliage all the way up where there is another dining area. There are plants and flowers everywhere. While waiting on the food to come, you can try to figure out which is live and which is fake. (hard to do without touching it) This place is pure class. Dark gray tile on the floor. Dark brown wood chairs and tables, rich red paint with big, beautiful pictures on the wall and the wait staff all in black. Very classy. My waitress and everyone I encountered today spoke enough English to explain the menu and everything having to do with the restaurant experience. My starter today was a "Rouleaux de printemps" (5€) Spring roll, served cold with lettuce, carrot, noodles, peanut a hint of cilantro and mine had shrimp wrapped in rice paper. (They also had chicken and beef) It was served with a dipping suace made up of a very light, mild vinegar sauce. It was garnished with lettuce and a cut carrot- for extra fanciness. My entre was "Poulet Jardin d'Asie" (6.50€) which was chicken with peas, green beans, carrots, lettuce, baby corn, onion, peas, bamboo shoots in a yellow coconut curry sauce. It also came with fried or steamed rice. I chose the fried rice which had peas, carrot, egg and tiny chunks of chicken. They don't have low sodium soy sauce in France. Probably because their health care is free. :) So heads up American's: Bring that blood pressure medicine. After lunch, I had a Petite espresso with 1 giant lump of sugar and a super tiny chocolate chip cookie (which was yummy). It's also worth knowing that the bathrooms were private men and woman's bathrooms. Mine was spotless and decorated beautifully. I've included some great pics. Check them out. If you're in the area and craving Chinois- you are in for a treat with this restaurant! Delicious food, friendly wait staff that works incredibly hard to make sure you have a GREAT experience. Visited last night for the first time with a couple of friends, and was floored by the size and spaciousness of this restaurant. It's HUGE, and unlike most of the restaurants in Grenoble - there is actually space between the tables. You don't feel like you're sitting next to your mother in law at a big family Christmas dinner. Anyway... I digress... I can honestly say that I believe this is the best Asian restaurant in Grenoble. As with most of the other restaurants in Grenoble, the dishes are a mix of countries - in this case Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and Japanese - all somewhat customized for the French market. As a result they don't have a good selection of Thai food for instance - but a selection of meats on a sizzling platter with 'sauce thailandaise'. I had the duck - which was good, and the sauce was tasty. Just don't go expecting an authentic Thai restaurant, and you'll be happy. Two of us had the 21.50 euro meal. Portions were great - and the salad + starter (sushi or nems) + desert (ice cream) were excellent. A friend had the lemon chicken - which wasn't great. I'd suggest avoiding the croustillant dishes. They also do a steam-boat, or fondue type dish for groups - which looked interesting. Next time I visit I'll be trying this, or one of the more spicy options. read more

Déception J'avais beaucoup entendu parler en bien de ce restaurant !!! J'ai été très très déçu. Cependant je vais rester objectif dans cet avis. Le cadre et la décoration sont super, très joli restaurant, un tes bon accueil, service agréable et "rapide" trop rapide !! Ce qui me pousse déjà à me poser des questions sur la fraicheur des produits . J'y ai mangé une salade thaïlandaise à 7€ dont voici la recette : 4 crevettes, beaucoup de salade verte, le dixième d'une carotte rappée, 1 piment coupé en rondelle, et bcp de sauce. Et c'est tout !! Un canard thai, servis très rapidement aussi, et pour ce qui est du gout, ce fut "sans plus" un riz gluant très sec, et pour ce qui est du dessert .... Un tartare mangue/ananas, servi moins de 2 minutes après l'avoir commandé !! bien présenté, mais congelé !! une note trop élevé par rapport à la qualité de ce que j'y ai mangé. Exceptionnel ! Je pense que c'est un restaurant qui mérite vraiment d'être connu. Premièrement pour son cadre magnifique, mais aussi pour son excellent rapport/qualité prix, car les menus sont très abordables : 9, 13 ou 14 euros et les plats sont bien copieux. Le personnel est très attentionné et chaleureux. En ce qui concerne la rapidité du service, c'est surprenant : on peut manger en 30 minutes une entrée, un plat et un dessert (c'était mon cas la dernière fois car je voulais aller au cinéma !). Pour nous montrer qu'ils n'ont rien à se reprocher ou à cacher, leur cuisine est ouverte sur la salle. Vraiment bien ! Non, je n'ai trouvé aucun défaut à ce restaurant et je pense que certains devraient prendre exemple sur celui-ci ! Je vous le recommande vivement ! read more

Impressionnant ! Je suis fidéle à ce restaurant depuis plusieurs mois que je trouve formidable, mais là je tenais vraiment à ajouter mon avis parmi tant d'autres : les propriétaires des lieux ont amélioré la décoration (et oui ! c'était déjà très beau mais ils ont fait encore mieux !) et on se sent comme envoûté et totalement dépaysé. C'est un lieu où on se sent vraiment comme chez soi car c'est grand mais en même temps très cosy. La cuisine est très très bonne et très raffinée, et contrairement à ce que pourrait faire penser le cadre (car moderne), on mange pour pas trop cher ! Je vous conseille les spécialités de la maison, c'est un vrai régal........ Pour ma part, je pense réellement que c'est le meilleur restaurant asiatique de Grenoble. read more

Ne vous fiez pas à tous ces commentaires positifs : ce n'est pas si bon que ça (ça l'était il y a qqs ans, plus maintenant).
