Fatima Yelp Review: Fatima has handled my taxes for the past few years. She has also done the taxes of several of my closest friends and members of my family and they all were extremely happy I sent them in her direction. Fatima has a wealth of knowledge about a variety of tax issues. She is quick to reply to any correspondence she gets by either e-mail or phone call. I was extremely impressed with how quickly my return was handled and never once had a single problem. Yaletown Accounting has been around for years and has a great convenient office location. Anyone looking to have their taxes done quickly, inexpensively and by someone who cares about their customers, look no further than Fatima! read more

The claim to "specialize in a wide range of personal tax preparation service". I called to make an appointment to review my own personal income tax. On the surface that would be a perfect fit. Instead, she told me to find a larger financial company. Something fishy going on there. The only thing she knew was it was about personal income tax. Why would I need a "larger firm"? Something is not on the level here. read more

Fatima, the owner of Yaletown Accounting, provided me with very bad service. On April 28th she told me that I should receive back funds from CRA so I don't need to be worried. On May first she changed her mind and told me that I owe $11,969.09. I had no chance but to pay this huge amount and I received a penalty from CRA of $254.77 for paying the debt after April 30th. Then I went to profesional CPA that found that Fatima made a big mistake and I had to pay CRA only $5,350.01. Fatime was very rude and refused to pay me back her fee after she promised to do so. I requested from her to cover for me the penalty and she didn't bother to respond. Fatima didn't take any responsibility for her mistakes and she should do much better. Roni read more

Yaletown Accounting has grown larger than ever before and I can see why! Fatima Nanji is by far still the best Tax Accountant ever! She is the most knowledgeable in her field, very efficient and simply brilliant. Every year I receive the best value when she does my taxes and for that I'm super grateful! Contact Yaletown Accounting while they are still accepting new clients. Cheers! read more

This was the worst tax experience ever. Fatima misrepresented her skills, failed to give correct information about CERB and the BC Recovery Benefit, and "totally missed your email" that included all my tax documents. Once the return was finally ready to submit, she refused to answer my questions and explain the assessment. They were rude and unprofessional and I felt misled and taken advantage of. For all the errors, stress, and money it cost me, I would have been far better muddling through on my own. I've never left an online review but I don't want anyone to have the experience I did. Wish I could give zero stars. read more

Thanks for helping with my last-minute filing! Just got my refund and couldn't be more pleased.

I had been going to see Fatima at Yaletown Accounting for 5 years now, returning customer, referred handfuls of people to her due to her simple approach and cheap prices. She even sent me a card in the mail with a giftcard grateful for all the referrals I sent. This most recently year of filing my taxes with Fatima has been HORENDIOUS! I submitted my taxes as I do every year, although this year I had a moving expense for work, which I supplied all my receipts for. For weeks we emailed back and forth (because for some reason she NEVER picks up my calls, ever) with her stating I could not write off my moving expenses. I moved from BC to Alberta and paid for it myself, OF COURSE I CAN WRITE THIS OFF! Had she answered any of my calls we would be solved this issue weeks in advance, but she is always "out of town" or "in a meeting" or "at a conference". By she realized she was in the wrong, and yes I was able to write off my moving expenses ($$$), she emailed me my return said sign here and I'll submit it, you should see the return within 1-2 weeks. So I did that same day. 5 weeks later, nothing from my return. When I contacted her she said to call the CRA and see what the delay is (thanks for doing your job and following up with them yourself). THE DELAY WAS SHE NEVER SUBMITTED MY TAXES TO THE CRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I called her furious (doesn't pick up her phone), texts me back later, I'm out of town, I will check on this tonight. Low and behold the CRA was right and Fatima Nanji DID NOT submit my taxes. When she finally did I saw my return the following week (MID JULY). She sent me an email apologizing for all the issues and delay in my taxes this year and offered to do my taxes free of charge next year as I have been a very loyal and dedicated customer. I accepted. Now here the kicker, I just found out I have a very pricey medical write off that 3 representatives at the CRA have confirmed I can write off, including a Tax Payers Services Agent Level 2 (trained primarly in Medical Expenses), when I approached her with this great news (which she has expensed a portion of this before for me), she said "I think the person gave you wrong information ". When I called back and reconfirmed she still said she would not do my taxes for me with these medical write offs. If the CANADIAN REVENUE AGENCY says I can expense this with flying colours then why is my accountant of 5 years saying "I will not file your taxes with these expenses, you will have to go elsewhere", OH WAIT, it's because she offered to do my taxes for free. So now that I have given her all this extra work, the one time she agrees to do something for free, but my taxes will be more demanding than a basic refund, she says no. I am extremely disappointed, frustrated, and taken back by the lack of professionalism, sense of urgency, and wilingness of Fatima at Yaletown accounting. Since I will be a non-returning customer next year I highly suggest to reconsider getting your taxes done with her. Clearly she is incompitant and does not value her returning customers. Going back on your word and a commitment you made because it's more work. LAZY! read more

Hands down the worst experience I've ever had as a customer. I'll spare you the long version of this painful drama and cut to the part that REALLY made me angry. Fatima did two years of taxes for me and e-filed them for me. A few months after they had been "filed" CRA froze my bank accounts because they hadn't received my returns. I called Fatima immediately and she told me that the e-file system wasn't working around that time and that 10 or so of her other clients' returns hadn't been received either. Correct me if I'm off base here but would that not have triggered her to check on the other returns?? Apparently not. Then I had to fax copies of the returns to CRA and they immediately unfroze my accounts. It was one of the most stressful experiences of my life! Her nonchalant attitude was infuriating to say the least. I honestly have never been so angry or been treated with such disdain in my life. I have literally told everyone I know the long version of the story to make sure nobody has to go through what I went through. Stay far, far, far away from Fatima. read more

Unreliable, dishonest. I took my simple, basic tax return to Fatima last year and the first thing that bothered me was, she asked if I could drop my documents at her home instead of her office. I went to her building and called up to say I was there and she asked me to wait outside rather than buzzing me in to wait in the lobby. 15 minutes later (!) she stepped off the elevator and said there was something wrong with the elevators (yet, no phone call.....hmmmm). That was my first inkling that all was not right with this young woman. Anyway, it took a few weeks but I was in no hurry. Fatima then called and asked me to come to her home (not her office) again to sign the return so she could proceed with filing. Similar thing where I waited outside for quite a while, signed in the lobby, paid her $40 cash and then left. The return was filed without a problem so I was satisfied. This year, I gave her my return and my daughter's to file - both basic, personal returns. It has been MONTHS of trying to arrange to meet with Fatima either at her office or wherever just to sign and proceed with the filing. First, she claimed my email must be "not working" as she claimed to have attempted to contact me several times. My email is fine - nobody else has had a problem with it. Second, she never returned my calls (I don't mean infrequently, I mean never) despite my leaving several voicemails per day near the end as I started to be really concerned about the amount of personal and financial information I'd given Fatima about whom I knew very little. A few days ago, I checked the Better Business Bureau website and found a rating of D+ for Yaletown Accounting based on an earlier review that is eerily similar to my own. I immediately sent Fatima an email stating that I wanted my documents returned immediately and that I would be sending a courier to pick them up, from her office at noon the following day and that if the documents were not available for pick up, I would be taking legal action. She responded (!) by saying she didn't know what "my issue was"!!!! I sent a courier the next morning and am thankfully back in possession of my documents. Crazy, ridiculous way to do business. read more
