Mauricio was at the bar and we definitely missed being under his attention by not sitting there. Eliezer (the Venezuelan waiter from Mérida) took care of us in the dining room. Both are always very friendly and attentive. This time we decided to sit in the dining room because we were a group of three and had a lot to talk about. The place has 4 TVs and we were able to enjoy the France vs Spain match. We all ordered La Tropical Draft beer, a light, smooth, and very refreshing blonde. In total we had 16 beers . We shared nachos with grilled steak, which were very good (they pour the melted cheese right at the table). We also ordered tripa tacos well toasted (that's the technique) as we requested, and they came out excellent. Note: They have different promotions or offers depending on the day, not a regular happy hour variety, so it's good to be aware of that. The restaurant offers a good variety of 8 salsas: Sirloin, Chips, Guacamole, Verde, Vicente, Pastor, Chilanga, and Asada. Good atmosphere, pleasant service, and tasty food. We'll definitely keep coming back.

Some of the items cuisine includes flavorful tacos, fresh guacamole, and delicious drinks. We had ordered a few things such as the most popular the queso y chorizo and guacamole. They also have happy hour and taco Tuesday specials, which includes a few of there selected tacos for $3. My favorite taco was the mushroom taco. It was so flavorful. I also ordered the steak bowl which tasted so fresh and delicious and super healthy.

I had the torta, pork belly and al pastor tacos, and esquites! Definitely not bad but a miss in terms of flavor and quality. The esquites my wife and I could not even finish which is rare! It had such an unusual taste of old and rancid corn. One bite and I could not take another please take caution in ordering that! The tacos were fine and the torta was fine! But again it was lacking a more seasoned meat and salsa that tasted less of peppers and more like salt mixed with salt! Now the service and people save the day! So sweet! So helpful! I hate the way the food was as strange as the people were kind but it was just my experience. The ambiance is clean! Vibrant and classic Miami Latin music playing throughout! I wouldn't rule out coming back! But def would be my 4th choice for food!

The food is advertised one way, but is served quite differently. Nearly everyone around us were screaming in each others faces just to have a simple conversation. So sorry to bury the lead, as I am writing this we are discovering we have food poisoning. The carnitas plate was absolutely delicious--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. What made the experience even more memorable, though, was the incredible hospitality from the owners and staff. The warmth and genuine friendliness made us feel as if we were dining in Mexico, with the same outstanding level of service and good ambience. It may be a bit out of the way for some, but trust me--it is well worth the drive. This is a true hidden gem in Miami Lakes. Thank you, Ricardo, for your hospitality. We'll definitely be back!

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.
