If you have a choice, I would not recommend this clinic. I do not normally bother to write online…read morereviews, but just had such an unpleasant experience that it has motivated me to do so. I went to see Dr. Gordon two years ago as a new family doctor. He was fine -- nothing exceptional, but fine. Since that time, I had one isolated appointment (I think it was even through the walk-in clinic!) with my parents' doctor (because I was at home visiting for a long-ish period of time and was leaving the country for several months before returning to Victoria) -- but I still considered Dr. Gordon my family doctor. However, when I phoned to book an appointment with Dr. Gordon, the receptionist at the Cook St. Village Health Centre rudely informed me that the fact that I had seen another doctor in the meantime indicates that I am 'doctor hopping,' I clearly do not consider Dr. Gordon my family doctor, and I am depriving other people of a doctor. I can completely understand her point (although do not feel she is correct in suggesting I am regularly seeing two family doctors), but her tone and attitude were so unnecessarily patronizing and offensive that I will not be returning to this clinic. I know that the receptionist's attitude may not reflect that of the practitioners, but for me it is important to feel comfortable and supported when visiting a clinic -- and I felt that I received the very opposite of that during this interaction (kind of sadly ironic when you consider this is supposed to be a 'holistic' practice that addresses all aspects of health and healing).

He did a more thorough assessment, located the problem, which was a rib, not a vertebra out of alignment. He applied gentle pressure and readjusted the rib, which took the pressure off the nerve and relieved the pain. Then he taught me a few exercises to help strengthen my back. Even though I moved to Nanaimo, I still go to "Dr Mark" about once a month as a special treat for myself. After his adjustment I feel "3 inches taller" and more flexible; and after 10 minutes on his electric massage bed, which is a major plus, I feel sooo relaxed and sleep deeper and longer later. His treatment is well worth my trip to Victoria. Many thanks to "Dr Mark" and to his assistant, Becky for your excellent care!

I heard great things about naturopathic medicine so I found my way to Dr. Cashin at Juniper Family Health. She took the time to go over my history and understand the issues I've been having and she told me about something called SIBO (which until now I hadn't read too much about, even with my IBS research online). I took a test and was so relieved. After three years of suffering, I finally knew why I was having so many issues (including fatigue). I've been in treatment now for about two months and I feel SO. MUCH. BETTER. If only I had gone in earlier. I love that Juniper Family Health also has other members on staff to contribute to your care, including a great nutritionist and another doctor who helped me get vitamins through an IV drip for the last four weeks. I feel very well cared for, and I always feel like the staff listens and pays a great deal of attention to my health concerns. Until going in to have naturopathic treatment I had almost given up and now I feel like I have more of my life back. I'm starting to feel normal for the first time in years!

So I said "I'll try to come because I do not want to be charged for nothing". I show up and waited for 12 minutes and notified by front desk that they recieved my voicemail last night cancelling my appointment. This only means voicemails are pointless while in fact they've called me 2 mins later last night. Voicemail should have been deleted. So in short they've cancelled me, so shall we apply cancellation fee as well as a client? I get it when a short notice cancellation fee will be applied. But their communication shows how they recieved voicemails should have been reviewed and deleted so others will not be getting informations that was already dealth with. Getting ready and showing up early expecting to have your appointment ready as well. There's no excuse of that effort showing up to your appointment but a disappointment! I suggest a clearer transfer of communication be more observable than being more concern on short notice cancellation policy.
