This is a long much overdue review, which I've been intending to do about Dr. Xu's acupuncture treatment. A great friend of mine referred me to Dr. Xu as he was the only doctor who was able to cure her from a cluster headache. So, in search of help with my lower-back/sciatica pain, shoulder pain and an overall dryness (mouth, eyes, skin) after a second time covid, but this time affecting my eyes and somewhat my mouth, I decided to go see Dr. Xu. And thanks to Dr. Xu's exceptional acupuncture skills, he is the reason I am finally back to normal again. I am still treating my back in general, along with my shoulder and forearm tendonitis, but overall, I am in a way way better place now than I was a year ago. And my mouth and eyes are finally back to normal again. Along with his acupuncture treatment, Dr. Xu's herbal tea pills also helped me achieve an overall health status I was looking for, including also getting back to my desired normal weight as everything else gets back into balance again, including the hormones. He's very kind in general and also so understanding when I ask him any questions or concerns, as well as when I need to cancel and/or reschedule an appointment. I feel so much better after seeing him and I believe that my overall treatment might be approaching its end as I am doing a lot better. However, I don't mind seeing him as many times as it takes aside from helping me with my already diminished and almost resolved overall health, his acupuncture treatment skills also helps put my mind at ease and in a good place. I really liked Dr. Xu's treatments until I was rudely rejected after I brought up the fact that my sessions were becoming shortened. When I first contacted him, he told me that each session was an hour. My third session was cut in half. However, I paid the exact same price as a full hour. After realizing that my session had been shortened, I texted him immediately but did not receive a response. Today, I booked a session for my husband and kindly asked him to make sure he received the full session. His response was, "My price not depends how long the time is". I was never told this. He followed the statement by saying, "That is why I gave you the burning sticks so you can do it on your own". Excuse me, why do I have to pay the same price if I have to do his work on my own? He ended our conversation by, "Find another doctor". Incredibly rude and dishonorable. I would never in a million years treat a client like this. I have only been here twice, came in desperately for recurrent bladder infections and Dr. Xu took a long time with me without making me feel rushed. He talked to me about stress, emotions and how it relates to disease and how chi and immune system play a part in our overall health. He did acupuncture and cupping on me, it was a little uncomfortable but totally doable, then applied heat to make me sweat during acupuncture and I could feel the toxins coming out. He boiled herbs for me which I picked up the next day. I am not kidding you, with just ONE treatment my bladder feels 60% better, I am going back a few more times to make sure they don't recur, but this beats taking antibiotics and other chemical western medicines that my Dr. wanted to put me on. Fast forward to March 2015 - After about a month of treatments, Dr. Xu completely cured my recurring UTI's and kidney pains. Dr Xu is a wonderful and caring practitioner. He has balanced my energy so that I have stopped taking hormones. I also have a incontinence issue and while that is not completely healed I have much more control than I used to. I have also used Dr Xu for different pulls and strains I have had due to sports injuries and within 1-2 visits I am pain free and back to normal. Dr. Xu is AMAZING! I had a car accident when I was 16 (many years ago) and as I've aged my neck has gotten worse and worse. Every 3 months or so I get a pinched nerve feeling and lose lots of time trying to get better. Since moving to OC from San Francisco I had no hope of finding another great healer, thankfully I was wrong! Dr. Xu is a very skilled and experiences Acupuncturist and healer! He also uses the Chinese Cupping method which has also helped tremendously. Let me tell you that I've tried everything else first, Chiropractic, Massage, Stretching, Yoga, Strength Training, etc....all of those things help but once you get to the point of severe pain-forget it-there is nothing else! I've seen other patients come in for weight loss, smoking help, digestive problems and circulation issues. Mostly you might want to know it does not hurt, it relieves the pain which is all I really need. His office is clean, relaxing and simple. He spent lots of time with me discussing my issue and lifestyle. He examined my tongue and read my pulse. He does take insurance, but my PPO did not cover it-he charges $80.00 a visit and I am there about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. Dr. Xu has changed my life. He is the most amazing man and has completely fixed any and all issues I've come to him with. I am aware of many types of Chinese healing methodologies. Dr Xu was thorough and genuinely concerned with my wellness. I only expected to have traditional acupuncture treatment. On my first visit, he did cupping, moxibustion, some massage on key points, and even some joint manipulation. I went to see Dr. Xu as I had injured my knee. I was getting discouraged because it was going on 3 months and the pain persisted, no matter what I tried.
