Lengthy, but worth the read. If I could give him zero stars I would! Do not go to this doctor! He is shady, shady, shady! I have been going to New Hope Acupuncture for years and have always had great results with them. I recently was suffering from vertigo and tried to get an appointment with them but due to the Thanksgiving holiday they were closed. I was desperate for help and went to Jung's. I could barely drive and chose him due to the high rating on yelp and close proximity. When I arrived I told him I had made sure my insurance covered it so to check with them before service. He said it wouldn't be in the system yet, so the charge would be $120.00. I should have had a ZERO co-pay, but he didn't even bother to call. I was so sick I agreed to pay him. He performed the service and I left, but not before he tried to get me to make another appt. I said I'd get back to him. Unfortunately, the service didn't help at all and I had to let it take it's course. After I got home I called my insurance and they said I could be reimbursed, but needed a detailed invoice of the services. I called Jung and his response was, "Well, that's going to require paperwork". Okay, so???? Another red flag! "I'm busy right now so I'll send it via email when I have a chance". He did email me the invoice, which by the way he should have handed to me when I left the office along with the receipt. The next day he phoned me to tell me he was going to only charge me $41.00 and would credit me the rest. Again, I told him I shouldn't have to pay him anything. I asked him if he had received phone calls from the insurance company and he said he had, but only listened to their messages. So, at this point I told him he doesn't need to credit me because I've already sent the paperwork in and was going to be reimbursed the entire amount. He proceeded to tell me he didn't want to argue with me and would credit me the entire amount. After he the credit hit my bank, I called the insurance company to let them know they didn't need to send me anything. I explained the negotiation phone call, his lack of professionalism, and vagueness about his services. At this point they are going to be following up with this. He doesn't care about his clients. Only the bottom line which is money. Red Flags all over the place! Avoid, avoid, avoid! Hopefully this review will help others not be taken advantage of! read more

I started acupuncture a month ago, as recommended by my neurologist for treatment of neuropathy. I've had five sessions with Dr. Jung now, and my results have been excellent. Because of my neuropathy, I have been unable to get quality sleep. With just the first acupuncture treatment, I felt more relaxed and I slept like a baby that night. I went to Dr. Jung for labor inducing acupuncture as my OB was beginning to talk about medically inducing me. I wanted a natural birth so wanted to try the more holistic approach first. Well I'm sure happy I did because I had my first session at 10am on Wednesday Dec. 26th and at 3am on Dec. 27th, I went into labor. I had a 12hr natural labor, and gave birth to a healthy 9lbs, 21 inches baby boy. I just wanted to say that if you are having doubts (like I was) because of that one (long) bad review, there's no need to worry. Jung is extremely professional and listened to everything I had to say. During the evaluation, he made sure not to strain my shoulder too much (which many doctors don't do, I'm constantly having to go home after doctor appointments and take a painkiller due to the doctor's rough evals). I'm adding this business to yelp.com, as I'm a patient of Dr. Luke @ Chin's Acupuncture, and I was surprised he/the clinic wasn't on yelp. Dr. Luke took over Chin's Acupuncture from the "original" Dr. Chin about a year ago; I assume Dr. Luke kept the name so people would be familiar with this business. In the months I've been going to Dr. Luke, I've been continually impressed with his ability to heal not only my ailments (digestive & stress issues), but also those of 3 other family members that referred me to Dr. Luke. I've had acupuncture at other offices for about 7 years, and out of the 4 acupuncturist Dr.s I've seen in that time, Dr. Luke is by far the best. His knowledge of the body and needle placement is so impressive, it's spooky. He was able to help with my issues in about 5 visits vs. over 30+ with another Dr. in OC. His office also has a staff acupressure massage therapist, and I look forward to such a specific, healing massage after my session with Dr. Luke. Even without seeing Dr. Luke, I'd love to come in for a massage alone. This isn't the least expensive clinic by far, but he takes PPOs. Even for a cash patient like me, it's worth the extra money to Dr. Luke for a few visits vs. a less experienced Dr. for more visits. read more

WARNING: Long Review ~ AVOID AT ALL COST! This doctor is shady! He Charged my medical insurance way more than the services I rendered. Not to mention, he was extremely vague when I asked him questions and even seemed frazzled and annoyed. He wasn't able to answer anything clearly, like basic costs of services, prices per sessions, with insurance and w/out insurance. He wanted to sell me on some "herbs" but couldn't tell me the ingredients or where they were from. It was all a weird start. Should've gone with my gut feeling and never returned after the first bad experience! Although, he was quick to answer that paying with insurance is better.... now I know why! So, My first visit/experience here was pretty strange but that's normal for something you've never done before, let alone something with that includes needles! After our brief consultation with no straight-forward answers to any of my questions. He proceeded with a trial of 8 needles on my body as an introductory session which lasted 30 minutes. Oddly, he charged my Insurance over $350 not including my co-pay with him. Which I found out two weeks later! During my first visit, He told me next time wear shorts so he can do the acupuncture on my knees. A couple days later I was back for my second treatment and brought my boyfriend that was interested in acupuncture himself. We went into his "consultation room" and again the doctor vague with prices and instead of answering changed the subject and asked what's your medical insurance? He even seemed intimated with my boyfriends questions and randomly asked what was my boyfriends occupation. Which was out of context, as we were talking about his services. After a roundabout and no clear answers, the so called dr. again changed the subject and directed his attention to me and said, that I needed to come 3 times a week for a month as well as take herbs. My boyfriend then asked about the herbs and he could not answer any of my basic questions such has, where they came from? Are they safe? Any side effects? How to consume them (tea, food, etc) not even prices for them but did mention insurance didn't cover. I was shocked how little he knew or wanted to tell me about these herbs he was desperately pushing. I brushed it off, since I wasn't interested in the herbs anyways. So boyfriend left, and I carried on with my appointment. This time he charged over $500 for about the same needles. First we did the front side, he left. When he returned over 30 minutes later, I said "Isn't the heating lamp supposed to be on" and he said "okay yeah" and turned it on. (talk about NO attention to detail, only reason why I said something is because it was on during my first visit). Then, I flipped over, He applied a couple needles on my hands and three on my neck. One on my neck, which was painful the entire time! When he came back, I said "hey my neck really hurts and he said that's why the door is open", so I can let him know... Am I supposed to know that it MIGHT hurt?.... Like I said this is my First acupuncture experience nor did he ever mention "if you're ever uncomfortable speak up". Not to mention, he didn't touch my knees but said he couldn't apply the needles on my stomach because of my dress! It seemed like there is always something he couldn't do. whether my knees or stomach. Ugh make up your mind! Annoyingly, I tried to coordinate what to wear for this apt. If he is going to be so picky, perhaps have something for your patients to wear! Oh well, long story short this was not the problem. The problem is the lack of professionalism, no communication as to what he is "trying "to up-sell (herbs) and overcharges medical insurances for services that should be a quarter of the price. I'm shocked! DO NOT GO HERE! He will use every little mark you put on their 4 page application to use as a reason you to come more frequently or upselling you something he doesn't even know about or possibly just doesn't want to tell his "clients". Overall, he is not genuine, sincere or professional. My neck hurt even after my apt! Seriously, bummed about the service I received because I work just down the street and will NEVER come back! I have to say...Dr. Luke is very good at what he does! He is knowledgeable, insightful, and sets a very warm relaxing tone during the visit. He takes time to talk to his patients in depth to resolve the issues that they may have. I started going to Chin's a whole year ago for a certain set of symptoms and concerns. In the time that i saw him, I felt so much relief of the negative physical ailments that I had. It has been truly amazing! I recently had some acute neck pain from a minor injury so I went to Dr. Luke for that... Just after 1 visit, the pressure and tension has been minimized incredibly. I am so amazed at how acupuncture can treat such a wide variety of ailments. I would suggest that everyone tries acupuncture first before Western Medicine. And Dr. Luke is just your man! Dr. Luke is a great doctor. I am coming for my wrist pain. I broke my wrist when I was younger and the bones didn't heal properly. On top of that my ligaments are stretchier than they should and the only remedy for that is a very painful surgery that shortens the ligaments, but with the years the ligaments will stretch out again so it is a pointless surgery. Acupuncture is helping my wrist movement pains, and helping me function and it is great because now I don't need to get the surgery! Not painful! And very relaxing environment! read more

The office is welcoming and calming. I was able to see the doctor within a couple days of my initial phone call and have been seeing Dr Jung twice weekly for a couple of months. Dr Jung is a skillful doctor with a great attitude and confidence to help with pain. I went to Dr Jung for arthritic pain and neuropathy in my hands. My joints were pained and I was not sleeping at night due to the constant "buzzing" in my hands. At the initial consultation, he asked questions about my medical history, my currents aches and pains and thoroughly examined my hands and arms. I've been going to Dr. Luke for 6 months now and I'm so pleased with all he's done for me. I was having pain and inflammation in my hands due to arthritis. Not only did he educate me about my body and WHY the arthritis was affecting me, he also has almost completely gotten rid of my symptoms. I saw another acupuncturist previous to Dr. Luke and was worked on for 20 minutes (the same treatment every visit) and sent on my way. Dr Luke's approach is completely different. He thoughtfully and carefully assesses my symptoms at the start of every visit and then works to treat them. His sessions are 1 hour long and are COMPLETELY worth it as his approach is different every visit. He is honest, fair and gets results that the western medical community will tell you don't exist!!!!! BTW- his massage therapist (Tracy) is AMAZINGLY intuitive and she can find areas that need treatment without me even prompting her. I first met Dr. Jung in 2014 as a result of my husband's treatments for tendonitis. I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy which often ends up as a permanent disfigurement to the face. After several treatments Dr. Jung had my face back to normal. I continued seeing Dr. Jung for other holistic treatments for a couple of years. I lived in San Clemente but moved to Rancho Mirage two and a half years ago. Not having found anyone even close to Dr. Jung's expertise in this desert community, I continued making the two hour journey to San Clemente twice per month to continue treatments for the past two and a half years. As far as I'm concerned I trust no one else putting needles into my face, so the long drive is very much worth my while.
