After experiencing the difficulty of getting near the launch site of the fireworks shows, this year…read moreI decided to watch Itasca's firework show from a distance in Elk Grove Village. Though there was still quite a line off 53 and onto Biesterfield and Arlington Heights Roads, this is still much better than what I've experienced closer where the fireworks are launched. It's a good idea to allow a minimum of 30 min before and 30 min after for heavy congestion though even an hour after the show, the traffic was still quite heavy on the main roads. The show itself really dazzled with both a higher frequency of fireworks than many nearby spots as was a larger size fireworks. This spanned a large array of different firework types though I wish there was a little more variety in the colors available. Regardless, even from over a mile away, the show was amazing and well worth the drive nearby. It's still crowded in the surrounding towns and there were a substantial number of lines at local businesses like McDonalds who were serving food. Overall, great fireworks show to watch -- even if you're not experiencing it directly at Hamilton Lakes.

Upon walking into this business my eyes lit up. Clearly seeing I was not from this part of the world the man behind the counter welcomed me with open arms and gave me a tour/explanation of what they carried. We joked about Southern California with him saying how many of these would burn down the state and he totally grasped why these fun things are illegal where I am from. After a friendly and hilarious conversation and tour I purchased a beginner firework and was on my way. Unlike the only other review, where I did see some MAGA goods there was nothing that desecrated the American flag nor signs that said Democrats were not welcome. We came back the next day for more fireworks and that's when I discovered this place has a rad deal. If you check in you get the 3 for $25 deal for free. I cashed in while buying another 3 for $25 deal and we had a literal blast on our last night in Wisconsin. Thank you again Freedom Fireworks for your generosity and the excitement you brought this liberal democrat from California who found himself in your wonderful small Wisconsin town. Then, we walk around a second time when it's dark to fully enjoy the beautiful lit up structures. We also watch the stage shows and enjoy drinks and snacks from the vendors near the stage. They've improved some of the paths making it wider and easier to navigate with the large crowds, strollers, wheelchairs, etc.

Not a problem for my husband and I but was glad my parents opted to stay home as I think they would have found it difficult. If that's the case for you as well, my suggestion would be to inquire about any sort of accessible parking. Beyond that, a wonderful time. We don't go every single year but when we do go, we so enjoy! Get to it!
