Absolutely terrible experience. We decided to see a movie mid-day on a Thursday. The parking lot was almost completely empty. We walked in and there was nobody at the ticket counter so we were forced to use the self order ticket computer, which was so slow that it timed out in the middle of us trying to order the tickets. I used the bathroom before the show and the first stall was missing a lock on the door. Our showtime was 12:00 and by 12:05 there was still nothing at all on the screen. I walked out and told an employee who said he would get it started. By 12:20 a different employee walks in the theater and tells us we need to move to another theater and join the 12:40 showing. We get new seats for that showing and we're told that someone would be there to comp us for the problem after the show.....not true. We see the movie and knew that there were scenes in the credits so we stayed to watch those, but as we did that an employee was walking in front of us cleaning up the theater. Not a relaxing movie day like we had hoped to have, I would really hate to see how terrible this place is when it's actually crowded. read more

We had reserved tickets for "The amazing digital circus" 4:40pm show and was told when we showed up that the showtimes were cancelled for the day due to a power outage the night before. I asked the manager on duty why wasn't there any communication with customers about this the day before and was told it pretty much wasn't their job. We weren't offered another possible movie or anything which was very disappointing. 20ml and not even an accommodation for their lack of communication. read more

"Oh no! What could improve?" Everything! This theater is pretty gross and sticky and dirty and the ticket self serve machines are mostly inoperable which makes you have to purchase tickets at the concessions' stand where the employees are kind of rude and seem like they don't want to to be there as much as customers probably shouldn't be there since they are likely not up to par with the health department code. The theater seats are so uncomfortable and dilapidated... I'm not too sure how / why this location remains open. I would venture to call it the worst movie theater I've ever been to. read more

Yikes! Xscape Theaters is Brandywine's movie theater and my goodness it needs a make over! Like the whole thing, including the people. The young lady at the counter was rude. No communication skills at all. No personality. She made eye contact but did not speak. She made it super uncomfortable to order, almost just walked off but I had to remind myself she was young. Her purple hair was cute though! The manger had his button down shirt half way unbuttoned and looked like he was ready to get out of that shirt. He saw the long line of people but did nothing to assist his crew of two. The ticket guy was also lacking a smile, a hello, any people skills. The line for the concessions was decent, prices are average, but for the value of the theater it's overpriced in my humble opinion. It's true, this place is run down and disgusting just like the reviews. I didn't recline in the chair cause I was too grossed out to put my hair on the chair. Ew, ew, ew! This is the absolute worse theatre I hate coming here. The staff must be asleep in the break room somewhere because they are barely working. The majority of the food screens are broken. Only one popcorn machine is fired up. The lines are long and slow. The ice on most of the soda machines don't work. The ginger ale was weak. Why are they even open. This movie theater is unclean and filthy. If it wasn't from needing to enter into the building I wouldn't have touched the handle to enter. All the door handles are filthy and gross, the glass on the doors look like they haven't been cleaned in a year. OK, we are here now. After not being able to buy tickets online my friend drove to the theater to purchase the tickets early. The movie started at 11:55 am and the place was relatively empty. We purchased snacks While I paid my friend went to get her drink from the soda fountain. She came back to the register to tell the cashier to please have someone clean ehay she believed to be dust all over top of the machines. The butter dispenser was filthy and sticky with lots of black smudges. Obviously it hadn't been cleaned in months. The bathroom was decent, thank God. I just didn't use the stall that had a spider crawling up the wall. After the movie I watched the attendant come in to clean the floor with a broom. There were 6 people in the theater so her time was super quick. While standing in outside of the theater in the hallway I watched her stroll down the hall without a care for doing anything more to clean the filth of this place. It had been years since I'd been to this theater and it will be years before I ever go back unless I want to have a day of watching movies for free because nobody ever asked for out tickets to enter the theater and we watch people go from theater to theater after out s movie was over. Miss going to the movies! (Is it me or is the stereo surround sound BETTER post-pandemic?!?!) This is only our 2nd time since the pandemic. We decided to take our kids to see inside out 2 on the hottest day this far, this summer. The ticket retrieval process was simple and self operated. We arrived at the time of our showing but there was a pretty long line at the concession. So we did miss all of the previews and walked in right as our movie was coming on. So it worked out. The concessions at this location are a little deterring. The staff moves slow, the options are not always available as shown on menus. Ex: only Cole flavored icee's were available today although they are supposed to be to have blue raspberry and cherry. The jalapeños for the nachos are always old and taste funny, this could cause patrons to become sick. The overall experience at this theater is always just ok. I prefer to make the drive to Virginia for the nicer theaters. read more

Let me say this first...I was invited here and years back I heard about this theater and how good it was but it's so far out I never visited. So why not check it out?!?! So here it goes.... 1. I waited in line almost 40 minutes for a bag of pop orb and some nachos. 2. The place is dirty...if you're hungry and don't want to stand in line bring your own bag and you can fill it up with all of the popcorn on the floor. (Really don't do that ha ha ha) 3. The service I have to say was good, the dude that took my ticket was polite and the dude that took my order was helpful. That earned them a couple of stars. 4. The seats are old, but were oddly comfortable. The seats don't have trays so be lap ready to hold your food. Would I go back. Nope. For me it comes down to a few things: 1. It's too far and I'm not desperate. 2. The lines are too long. 3. The total comfort lacks simply because there are no trays in the squeaky reclining tray. read more

The main thing is when a movie is played the audio is too loud to the point of distortion. This can cause irreversible hearing loss even in people with normal hearing. I had hearing protection on and it was still too loud. I asked about turning it down but received a tepid response. The other thing is that this is obviously a popular theater, however, the workers and managers there are overwhelmed because there is not enough staff. It is my hope that this review will be seen by corporate because this needs to be addressed. read more

This has got to be a really bad joke. The health department should be down here along with a cleaning crew. The whole lobby is gross and unsanitary. They literally just handed my aunt dirty cups to drink out of. The guy in the glasses gave her a new cup, but ewwwweeeee. The popcorn machine's glass door is missing and the light appears to be broken as well. There is trash an open drink sitting right on the food prep area. The freezer with food in it has been open since we got here. The guy saw me filming it and closed it. The whole drink area is covered in trash and food. There are more cops than employees in here. The seats are torn up and scratchy. There is feces and urine on the toilet and feces in multiple stalls in the bathroom as well as filthy walls and sinks. Even if it were free, I wouldn't come back. Everything needs improvement. Maybe because this theatre and the AMC theatre at St.Charles mall is the only theatre within 30 min driving distance , not having much competition must make it okay about how poor the cleanliness of this place is and the upholstery on the some the seats have just worn down and not been replaced yet. Concession stands are always long here as well. With the amount of space this theatre has, a luxury theatre could have been put here. read more

Purchased tickets for The Conjuring Last Rites (which were 35$) not even half way through the movie the whole screen went black.

One of my good Friends hosted a fundraiser by renting out one of the theaters for a Marvel movie. She gave away a pair of free tickets. I won! I was excited to go the movies as I have not been in awhile. The movie was 3D so we got glasses. She even had popcorn, candy and drinks available in our theater so we did not have to purchase anything. I took the Hubby with me. The movie was wonderful! I have not been in a theater since pre-Covid. It was nice to see everything on the big screen. However, I was disappointed by the state of the reclining chairs. Some were up and didn't go down and some were down and wouldn't go up. The headrest material was worn on some of the chairs. I laid my coat over the area. Plastic would be easier to clean and more sanitary. Seating is key at the movies. Unfortunately, there were too many People to get a picture of the chairs. However, if you look in the background of the picture of me and my Husband, you can see the worn headrest. I hope they can fix these issues before my next visit. read more

Opening weekend (Friday) of Black Panther and I came to see it with a group that rented out all of one of the theaters. The theater double-booked multiple show rooms!!! We were in the theater an hour prior to the movie's start time so as it got closer to showtime and other ppl started to trickle in, CHAOS started because there were ppl in "their" seats!! Why would they sell seats to a showing that had a private booking???? Multiple ppl in our group tried multiple times to have the manager come rectify the situation or provide some sort of assistance but the manager was nowhere to be found! Instead the (teenage) theater employees either took it upon themselves or were forced to come in and argue with the group that reserved the whole theater. Once 7pm (show time) hit, the theater didn't (or couldn't) start the movie on time, because of the confusion. Eventually, everyone got it together enough (NO THANKS TO THE MANAGER) that the movie started. And this wasnt just our situation, I see another Yelp comment about a similar issue happening hours before our show time and I overheard someone say, "they overbooked all the theaters". Mistakes happen but the same issue occurring multiple times AND forcing your young employees to deal with this chaos is inexcusable! read more

My 2nd time here. The 1st was 7 years ago & I hated it. The place stunk & the bathrooms were dirty. Now ffwd to 2023 & it was worse. The place still stunk, cheap repairs that are visible throughout the building, raggedy chairs, no toilet paper, dirty bathrooms & hallways, & while I was in a large & extremely long concessions stand a teen hit another one 3xs in the face by staff and no one kicked them out nor said anything. It was also a sauna until we got into the actual theater for a movie that started 20mins AFTER the posted start time We will not be back ever again. I went to see Avatar and the screen was large and there was ample seating with the reclining chairs which was nice. However, there was popcorn all over the floor and one the seats. It almost looked like someone tossed a box of popcorn in the air and let it fall on the floor. That particular theatre was definitely not cleaned up prior to the screening that I went to. Our particular row had the least amount of popcorn on the floor and seats. read more

So I went to the very first showing of the day at 10:45 a.m. the seats were very old and falling apart, there was popcorn in the seats and floor. (Remember I was at the first showing of the day) so they didnt clean the theater from the day before. My movie was supposed to start at 10:45 a.m. at 11:00 still no movie so I waked to the front and they said ok we'll get on it. 11:10 wnt back out there and they said they're working on it. 11:15 30 minutes later I decided I can't wait any longer and got a refund. This place is poorly maintained. The man and women were both nice and accommodating, I hope they are able to find another job, because this theater will not be open very longer. read more

I went to the theatre on Saturday Nov 30. It was terrible. it is a diseased infected theatre. T heatre was dirty. Bathrooms horrific. My husband could not use the bathroom. The urinals were taped up and the stalls had feces all over the walls. This place should be shut down. Leather on seats were all peeling. Missing letter on rows so you could identify your seats. Spoke to General manager Joe C who did not care about our concerns and refused to give me a general number to voice concerns. The employees are great! The food is pretty good. The facility is TRASH! After you pay for your food at the concessions, it goes down hill from there. The soda machines that worked (half of them were out of order) need an upgrade. I went to the restroom and didn't want the bottom of my shoes to touch the floor. The smell of raw sewage was apparent from the hallway leading to the screening rooms. All of the stand up urinales were covered with trash bags. Three stalls were not clean at all. The hand drying units look like they were from the late 1900s. It was disgusting. We went to see Sonic 3 , and when we went into the screening rooms, the floors hadn't been cleaned from the previous movie. The seats are badly worn and torn. This theater needs a major upgrade. I'm never coming back to this theater. The only reason I came here was because it was the closest theater playing this movie. Before the pandemic began, this was my favorite theater, and I spent countless afternoons and evenings there, both with friends, family and alone watching movies. Now, the parking lot is filled with trash and debris and inside the theater looks generally dirty. The manager is very responsive and professional. However, he is working in a dump-- I cautioned him to begin looking for jobs and other theaters, because it looks like this theater is going out of business slowly and steadily. Clearly, the owners are investing nothing in the maintenance and upkeep of this location. They've even removed this theater from Flixster. Seating in the prime areas of the theater is very worn with the polyurethane leather, wearing in the seat cushions and the arms worn out on many of the seats. I don't even feel comfortable sitting in the theater anymore. read more

Okay. So, I was here for a private event in a rented theater for a viewing of the new Black Panther movie. It was lights, camera, action outside on the red carpet. People were certainly dressed up in theme with the movie. Inside had a festive atmosphere, there were African dancers and drummers in the lobby. As a patron it was chaotic, crowded, and confusing. I stood in along line only to find out that it was a line solely for an Eventbrite event. I was asking questions trying to find out where to go. And I was told to get in this line. That was not we're we needed to be. Crazy!!! This line was completely blocking all of the entrance doors. It was just a madhouse. And it appeared as though there was absolutely any organization or management in this place. After I finally find out where to go we sat in a dark theater for close to an hour with no previews nor the actual feature playing. So, the movie had not started because Xscape was also selling tickets for this theater which was contractually rented out for a private event. So the people who purchased tickets refused to leave the theater and my group POCs were trying to figure it out. So, it ended with our group leaving without seeing the movie AND the manager refused to refund the payment for the private party rent. It was a crazy experience. read more
