But after learning to pace myself a bit more and using more of my legs and hips, got the hang of it and enjoyed both the technical skills and aerobic workout. Boxing is both intuitive and counterintuitive to me. Shannon (great instructor) explained how clenching your fists or having tension in your arms counterintuitively leads to weaker punches. And that relaxing the arms up until the moment of impact is the most effective way to punch. It feels very unnatural, until it isn't. The legwork also feels counter-intuitve initially and then it starts to make sense (ex jab as your lead foot steps forward, cross off your back foot) Good mix of both men and women, beginners and intermediates. You'll get a sweaty intense workout (if you choose to go all in), and then off-ramped by some light core work and a cooldown stretch. Pro tip: come early if it's your first time. They recommend half an hour before class. They'll help you tape up your hands, pick the right sized gloves, and show you the basics.

The workouts are seriously amazing -- combining authentic boxing technique with full-body conditioning that keeps every class exciting and empowering. Huge shoutout to Mannie, Sara, and Gio -- these coaches are simply exceptional. They bring so much energy, expertise, and encouragement every single session. Whether it's a high-intensity group class or a focused 1-on-1 session, they tailor the training to your level and help you improve with technique, motivation, and constant positive support. Their passion for coaching and genuine care for members is what makes this place truly stand out. Every time I leave class I feel stronger, more confident, and inspired to show up again. I came across Relentless Boxing, saw that the owner and coach, Arturo, is a former professional boxer, and that the gym actively trains and competes fighters. Everything looked solid, so I reached out to set up training sessions. Coach Arturo is an excellent teacher. He was patient with my learning process and beginner-level gaps, explained things clearly, and created a welcoming environment from the start. Each session was enjoyable and productive, and he gave me specific drills and exercises I could work on independently to improve my weaknesses. I told him footwork was my biggest area of concern, and he delivered exactly what I was looking for in both coaching and instruction. Don't feel intimidated by the fact that this is a real fighter's gym. If you're serious about learning proper boxing skills and technique, this is a great place to train. Come in with a positive mindset, be respectful and committed to learning, and Coach Arturo will genuinely help you progress toward your goals. 1000% recommend this gym for any level of boxing.

You break into two groups, one group on punching bags and the other group on weights. Tuesday happens to be leg-day and each person gets their own bench station with dumb-bells. The two groups rotate between the benches and the punching bags. On the bags you're going through drills and you can refer to a TV screen to follow what the punching drill sequence is. On the bench side, Coach Martin demonstrated the leg exercises and we also used the TV screen for timing and a reminder of the leg moves. The facility is super clean, modern, and I liked how there weren't too many long breaks between the rounds. The class went by really fast! Just a quick tip: when the lights are still on do a quick check on the dumbbells to make sure you have what you need. Once the class started lights went off, class went dark, music started, just like a nightclub haha, and it took me a minute to pair up the right sized dumbbells! They have gloves and wraps for rent if you don't own your own. They provide towels and a locker to store your belongings.

This is a real boxing gym where my son would know how to box if there was a street fight and he needed to defend himself. He has learned a lot since he has been including jump rope and his boxing skills are getting better by the day. I am confident in 2 years he is going to be awesome. Tom is great coach. He is very caring and pays attention to everyone. He truly cares about my son and all his other customers and it's hard to find that. I am so happy I found this place and would not switch. This is real boxing here. Before I joined I read the reviews and there were some negative reviews in regards to gaby (Tom's wife). I took my chance and took my son anyway. After knowing tom and gaby they have a good clean heart and desire to improve everyone there. Gaby does share a lot but you have to know her to know she means no harm. She always asks me "Did you feed him today and make sure to give him food and protein". I appreciate the thought and care. In my opinion if you going to go to a boxing gym, you can't be too soft about what gaby said. You need to be tough. I also stay there and watch my son while he is boxing and I see most people there seem strong. I am assuming boxing for a period of time really gets you strong and lean. Thank you tom and gaby for making my son better and giving him skill and confidence he will carry rest of his life.

I went in knowing nothing, never been in a fight, not even how to punch properly, but they were so beginner friendly and so encouraging, I learned so much and actually learned to box well. I didn't even know how to throw a punch when I started going, and after 3 months I was able to spar in the beginners area well. If you are wanting to go here to maximize the number of calories that you burn in a 45 minute workout, this is not where you want to go. There is duct tape on some of the punching bags, it gets hot in the gym in the summer, your knuckles may bleed if you don't wrap them properly, and if you want to learn how to actually spar, you are going to get punched in the face. If however you want to learn to build endurance, how to punch, how to block, how to dodge, learn how to manage your footing and your momentum, and how to even take a punch, this place rocks. I can't recommend it higher. Since COVID I've had a few kids and haven't been able to make it back, but I'm excited for when I can make the time to start back up.

She took me back to the fundamentals of boxing form and it drastically improved the power behind my punches as well as my movements/speed. Also, there's nothing like having someone who has been on a huge weight loss journey herself - trust me, she knows her stuff! She explains things thoroughly and in a way that makes sense to someone who knows very little about the mechanisms of the body & proper nutrition (aka me). Even if you don't want to train for boxing specifically, I would highly recommend Joanne to anybody trying to reach fitness/weight loss goals.

I'm…read morenot in bad shape, and I do work-out daily, but I remember back in September 2017 I was unable to do 3 push-ups in a row, and struggled with 1. My arms would quiver and shake, and it was tough. Joanne showed me the right way to do them, and told me to start on my knees and go all the way down... chest touching the ground.. and back up.. and don't cheat yourself. I began adding push-ups into my regimen, and forced myself to do at least 20 a day. Slowly I began to go from my knees, to my feet, back to my knees. By November, I was cranking out push-ups, all the way down and even moving laterally with them with confidence. (I'd even throw in a few diamond or wide push-ups into the mix) Joanne helped me make that mind-muscle connection, and be aware of which muscles to contract. She even helped me with my lateral raises, making me feel where I should be feeling the burn, and which muscles I'm really working out. This is also to be said in my bicep curls. My shoulders and biceps have developed well, and I always make sure that i'm feeling the right muscles burn and putting tension where it needs to be when working on by myself. I highly recommend Joanne as a trainer who will make sure your form is correct, which makes all the difference in your true progress. I understand that she's now certified, and after seeing her incredible weight loss, I would also recommend her as a nutritionist if you're also trying to lose stubborn fat. Joanne Castillo is patient and is willing to work with you, and can help you accomplish your goals the way she did with me. She's currently helping me with my tricep dips and be more agile in my movement! Highly recommend!!
