PLEASE make sure you check online sales before coming into this store. For some reason, sometimes the store sales doesn't match those online; however, if there is a sale online, they will honor it. I came in a couple weeks ago and Madewell was having an extra 30% off sale items online, but nothing was posted in-store and when I went to check out, it wasn't acknowledged as well. I pulled out my phone and told them that the online store was having an extra 30% off sale, and they changed the price of the item. It's just annoying that you have to check if the online store offers a bigger discount. Tips: 1) Madewell now sells men's clothing online! 2) Become a Madewell insider and get free shipping online! 3) If you have a student ID, you get an extra discount on full-priced items!

The new store is huge! It's been a while coming, and even 2 weeks after the grand opening it was…read moresuper busy when I came in to make a return. There were probably 10 people in line. I was on my way to lunch so I decided to eat first -- when I came back a little bit later it was just as busy, though. I had a quick browse and they have a good selection, lots of stuff in both the ladies and mens sections. The only thing that I found a bit lacking were the color options, particularly in the leggings department. An employee did stop and ask how I was getting on while I browsed. The wait in line was quite long, probably 15 minutes, so if you're short on time it'd be best not to come on a Saturday at lunchtime. I didn't mind the wait too much except for the Mirror display (their work-out product) - which kind of yells at everyone as they come in the store and was quite tiresome to hear repeatedly while in line. Oh, and there are about a million opportunities to impulse buy accessories in line - you have been warned! I've had good experiences at this store in the past, they've always been friendly, which I think is pretty vital when their wares are sold at a premium. I usually shop online since I know my sizing and it's easy to see if they have the colors and sizes I'm looking for in stock. That means I end up mostly returning things to this store rather than shopping here. They've always been friendly and quick with returns. My most recent was a debit card refund and the money loaded onto my account right away. I've also had success with their order to pick-up. I was in a hurry to get a new yoga mat awhile back and I liked that I was able to see what they had in stock from the website, order, and collect it a couple of hours later. I've noticed that Lululemon also has good relationships with many of the yoga instructors around town -- of course it's partly marketing, but it makes the place feel accessible. It's great to see them collaborating with local instructors and studios and making an effort to be part of those communities. All in, nice store, I'm glad we have it.

Banana Republic - A Masterclass in Poor Service…read more This store is the epitome of everything wrong with modern retail: poor service, lack of attention to detail, and an arrogant team of sales associates who behave like they're doing you a favor by simply acknowledging your presence. My most recent experience involved a sale item I purchased online--clearly marked down--but when I came in for an exchange, I was charged full price. No one caught the mistake. No one seemed to care. Now I'm stuck dealing with customer service, wasting more of my time, and going out of my way to return items--all because no one here has the empathy, common sense, or basic customer service skills to fix a simple transaction. The attitude in this store is as off-putting as the incompetence. You're not Hermes, You're not even close. And yet, the condescension is thick in the air. Eventually, this kind of disregard catches up with a brand. In due time, I fully expect to see this location shut down. Given the way it's being run, it would be a fitting end. Banana Republic--you've earned your name.

Today I stopped by after shopping at Kirkland's next-door. I haven't been in the brick and mortar for a really long time and I was quite impressed during my visit. There wasn't a lot of staff on the floor, checking in or greeting, but there was more than one cashier, which is awesome so it didn't take too long to check out. Currently they are doing "rack "Friday sale. Red tags are an additional 40% off. I found a pair of nice jeans by the brand frame, which is pretty pricey brand and I only paid $38. They have a decent amount of purses, cosmetics, hair care, and plenty of good brands to choose from. I feel like their shoe inventory is massive here. The home section is pretty small and the children's as well. For there being so much in the store, they have everything laid out and organized. There's indicators upon every rack that let you know what brand you're shopping and it's easy to find your size. Kudos to the employees for keeping everything nice and neat!
