The downstairs compromises of a small room that has a couple of running machines as well as cross trainers and bikes. Just across from this room you have a relatively small womens only gym that has a range of machines for the patrons to use. Upstairs you have the men's and mixed gym that has a wide range of machines for all parts of the body. This gym is based towards people who are looking to build their body and not really towards people who are looking for a cardio workout. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly.

They have a sportshall which is used to host international sporting events, such as Netball, Futsal and Basketball. They have an excellent gym set up with all the machines you could ever want access to along side a free weight area. They have a swimming pool with communal changing facilities. The information around the venue is good as I get the idea that all kinda of classes are out on throughout the day. The staff were all very helpful throughout my time here. As a facility I cannot fault it. I couldn't give it five stars as I am not sure of the pricing structure and as we all know price can make a difference to all things. I would say there is high student usage but as it is part if the university that is not a surprise really. If you up in the northeast and need a gym, swimming pool or sportshall this is the place to go.
This building is located quite centrally at the top west end of Bedlington Front Street. It is an…read moreold, weatherworn building sandwiched between others, beside the post office and adjacent to the council offices and jobcentre. It has the appearance of an old sandstone 19th century house and there is even a front garden style entrance with a pathway leading to the front door. The facade is a little damaged with the signage broken with some letters missing. This is in the sports club category but it is really a working man's club where people come to drink. It is almost exclusive to a certain group of people and as such is less populated than the chain of pubs in the area. The club is quite weathered indoors with a look of old and musty furnishings. It has a quaint, North-Eastern comfort about it though. The quality of the refreshments and snacks is very good. The atmosphere amongst the people who frequent the club is wonderful with a high degree of friendliness and lot of chat.

If you're looking to improve your fitness but like me often find yourself bored of the monotony of…read morethe gym or lack the motivation to really push yourself then BMF could be the answer! British Military Fitness offers outdoor fitness classes led by current or ex-military instructors......but don't be intimidated as although run in an army style, instructors are there to encourage and not force you to do anything you don't want to do. Exercise classes last for one hour and are tailored to three different levels, determined by the colour bib you choose to wear: blue (beginners), red (intermediate) or green (advanced). I went along for a free BMF taster session in Leazes Park (Newcastle) having not done any running before and after an expired gym membership. One year on....I have never returned to gym, rarely missed a session and even ran my first ever half marathon at the back end of 2014. I owe my level of fitness to the fab instructors but also the encouragement of my fellow BMFers. Never before has exercise been so much fun! As a diverse and relatively small group in comparison to other cities everyone knows each other pretty well and are very welcoming......some people even hang around for well earned and guilt free coffee and cake after a Saturday morning session! No two classes are the same which keeps it interesting and whether it be circuit training, pair based exercises or team work the one guarantee is that you will work hard but have fun at the same time. Occasionally equipment may be used like kettle bells or medicine balls but generally exercises involve use of your own body weight. Aside from the people and creativity of sessions week on week, you get to exercise in the fresh Northern air and beautiful surroundings of Leazes Park. Parking is free on some side streets but beware if Newcastle are playing at home due its close proximity.

Pellikaan Construction Ltd UK have done a very professional job of the building and should be commended. New webpage address for this information is http://www.hetton-online.com Official opening day on thursday 14th January and it looks worth the wait. hopefully I will get some more good pictures.:) The pools and fitnesse centre are now open to the public so lets hope its put to good use by local people. Unfortunately due to a change of government, concessions to under 16's and over 60's will cease at the end of July so a lot of families and over 60's will be disappointed as the cost to some will be out of their reach. The proposed new glass along the side of the building (being designer and wont be cheap and there are MUCH cheaper materials available) is on show in the building, but maybe if this cost was used instead for concessions for people who qualify maybe it would be a better idea in this time of allround cutbacks! Bearing in mind an already public viewing area inside is available where the public can pay to watch what is happening in the building.
