The need for an Estate Sale company usually happens with a lifetime event, in my case two events,…read morethe loss of my wife and then deciding to retire, thus the need to downside. As usual I got exceptionally lucky, in this case my search for an Estate Sale Company I do some on-line research and Jen and Lisa of Miss Spiffy had some very good reviews and looking at some past auctions they ran, some very successful ones. I contacted them, they were very prompt with a response, and after talking a little they arranged to come to my house to see what I had to offer an auction. After they came to my house and reviewed the items I had selected they determined I had enough value for an auction. Jen and Lisa are the ultimate professionals, and extremely knowledgeable on how to set up an auction. Not only did they run a successful auction on my behalf, they are really genuinely very nice ladies and a lot of fun to hang out with and talk to. I'm glad they wanted to run the auction on my stuff as I have now made two new friends who are not only good at what they do, but just nice persons. Jen and Lisa know what sells and what doesn't sell, and I was surprised of some of things that are considered of value, others that were not. It is important to listen to the ones who are going to run the auction, this is their business and livelihood, and people like me, we are novices. They spent 3 days at my house researching, photographing and cataloging items for the auction, in my case they identified close to 300 items that would be good for an auction. Then they went home did the laborious task of uploading all the items to be bid on for the auction. I basically had a number in my head of what I thought the auction would gross, I was quite wrong on my estimate, the final gross was more than double what I expected. Never in a million years dis I ever expect the final total to be what it was- nevertheless I was quite happy with the outcome. I know some of you will do the type of research I've done in looking for a Seller for your collections, While the commissions these companies charge can seem high, keep in mind all the labor involved on their part to set up an auction in the first place, and travel to ones home to do the cataloging and photography, as well distributing the sold items after the auction is finished, plus the online advertising they do to promote the auction, and then the things we do not see as they contact past buyers of items that we have that are similar to items that past buyers have bought before- a lot of work on their and keep in mind, this is a business, and businesses have to be profitable for them to stay in business. End result, we put money in our pockets and at the same time save thousands from hiring a removal or clean out service.

They are very good at setting up and priced fair. Ran a tight ship. After-sale, the cleanout service got rid of stuff that nobody wanted. I highly recommend them!

If you are buying a house, or even thinking about buying a house, start with Jeff. He'll tell you…read morewhat finances and paperwork you need to get done, when, and in what order. He will be honest with you throughout -- always direct and never smarmy. He will return every call and text. He will help you understand the whole process, even the stuff you didn't know that you didn't know. He'll send you matches through the app and respond to your comments so when you are finally ready, he knows what you're looking for. Jeff will take you to see houses and will teach you about looking for water in the basement, checking out drainage and the foundation, warning signs and potential 'challenges', as well as being able to answer your questions about septic vs cesspool, how much electric you really need, sussing out if there is gas on the street (for a later stove conversion), and telling you how old the roof is just by looking at it. And any other questions you might have! If he doesn't know the answer, he will find out. He is so thorough and eagle-eyed that you can get excited about the hardwood floors and eat-in kitchen, knowing that Jeff will spot EVERYthing you need to be aware of. He's also really personable which helps when you're spending entire weekend days with someone. We had one crushing disappointment along the way -- not his fault -- and Jeff's straightforward "Okay, that's in the past, let's move forward" attitude was key in getting us right back out there (and we found our house THAT weekend.) He will guide you through the entire process, through closing, and make you feel -- the whole time -- pretty much like you are his only client. Once you close, and you need an electrician, a floors guy, a painter, whatever, Jeff 'has a guy' and if he doesn't, he won't quit until he finds you someone. We would use Jeff again in a second and wholeheartedly recommend him!

Very disappointed with this estate liquidator. The auction manager I dealt with was Michael…read moreEsteves. Their listings have almost no useful descriptions - just "as-is" disclaimers with little to no real condition details. I tried texting/calling/emailing with simple questions about an item and got zero response for like a week. I also accidentally placed a bid, then realized the condition was worse than it looked, and they completely ghosted my request to cancel. I honestly don't understand how estates can trust them to liquidate valuable items when they won't communicate and won't properly describe what they're selling. No other estate auction company I've dealt with operates this way, most provide clear, detailed descriptions and condition notes. It's also no surprise their auctions have very low bidding activity and they keep extending the deadline. On top of that, their 19% buyer's premium is ridiculous. Most reputable companies charge 18%, and at least they provide solid descriptions and properly represent items. This company doesn't even do the basics, yet expects people to pay more. The extra 1% barely makes a difference for them financially, but it says a lot about how cheap and poorly run this operation is. I would not recommend their service, and bidders should be extremely careful.
