It costed me $894 for towing $1000x2 for another lawyer Insurance went up $80/month - 960$. Interview MTO $30x2. Almost $4000. I went back to explain what error they made by not filling my third ticket when they have already filed other two. Terrible service. They have no communication skills and do not care about helping you at all. I spoke with Targol Menhal about a refund only a few days after retainment and according to their T&C it is acceptable to 'terminate' the contract at any time, with a fee of any services received from them up to date. I received zero service and therefore was eligible for a FULL REFUND, even Targol said so. I was supposed to receive a cheque in about 5 days through mail with my refund. It's been 2 weeks so I called them and when I mentioned the refund they just hung up on me. If this is how they operate, I wonder how little they really care about your case. They just want money and to be honest they seem uneducated as they cannot hold a proper conversation. If you need a paralegal DO NOT go with x copper. read more

I called X-Copper and explained to them my situation. They charged me $363 and promised me that my issue would be resolved immediately without me going to court or receiving any demerit points. I waited for 2 years and I still received a letter stating that I still have to pay another $240. X-copper aren't responding to called and when they do, they hang up the phone right away. I hired XCopper to represent me at a JPT. I had done all the legwork up until the JPT but felt that I could not manage it with my Anxiety and Depression disorder. They failed me miserably. I hired them one month before the JPT and did not receive a call from a lawyer until the week before the court date at which time was told I waived my Stream A which was not true. Lawyer did not have the disclosure and had not reviewed it before the JPT. Day of JPT the lawyer advised me that they could not represent me Durham as it a rule that JPT must be self represented. Don't you think they should have knows that? Now my Stream A time has run out and I have no alternative but to plead guilty the day before Stream A ends. XCopper refused to refund me the initial $2000 I paid them when they did nothing at all and still at JPT had no idea what my case was about and only found out from the Crown the day of JPT. I want my money back or at least $1500 as the lawyer did not do $2000 worth of work on my behalf. I did it all. read more

I would give 0 Stars if I could. I was charged with 'Drive - hand-held communication device', also known as distracted driving. My first offence, I paid X copper $565 to resolve a $615 ticket. My case was NOT resolved, instead it was amended to a "lesser offence" of 'Unsafe move s.154 (1) (a).' This offence holds a $490 fine ON TOP of the $565 payment made to X copper. Demerit points were not resolved and I am still losing the 3 demerit points. Moral of the story, just pay your $615 ticket, because I ended up paying $1055 - $440 more than I would have if i had of just payed the ticket. They also offered terrible communication and service throughout my entire experience. I have trouble understanding how they are even still in business. read more

Very rude service. I called to use their free consultation and get some info on what to do next, and initially the woman on the phone was very nice. The next day I realized I had some follow up questions, as simple as should I bring my car with me to the collision center. I was told to that they had told me what to do and just do it and not call again, and than to top it off they slammed the phone down. I realize they are busy but if you don't have 10 minutes for a client than you don't deserve to be in business. When I first called I was told that their services would cost $900 and was happy to pay for the services, even put down a deposit if they had asked, but no they decided to be rude and I have decided to go with OTT instead. I will never use xcopper again! I got a stunt driving charge and hired them. They sent an agent to court and told me "after lengthy discussions with prosecutor we were able to get charge down to 49 over with 4 demerit points and $400 fine". That's great I thought until I went to court for another ticket and saw someone with stunt driving charge get offered the same thing I was only WITHOUT XCOPPER. So basically I paid xcopper $1000 for someone to drive to court on my behalf. I also got another ticket for speeding. The cop didn't write how much I was over the limit. I sent ticket to xcopper for a quote. They wanted $250 to represent me. I decided that's too high so I went to court myself. Ticket was thrown out with no charge. Xcopper with their experience should have known this would happen yet they still tried to make me go with them for $250. Glad I went myself. I will never hire xcopper again. If I want representation I will hire a real lawyer or a real paralegal. I will not hire xcopper. Don't let them scare you. If you go to court chances are the court will offer you a lesser charge before the judge arrives and all you have to do is plea guilty to the lesser charge. Do not let a court date scare you. STAY AWAY from the Oshawa location. Try Redline or OTT. Did not bother to look at my dashcam footage. Guy there (Tom Walton) was extremely aggressive and wanted to know the exact speed I was going at in a case over a year old and when I said "I don' recall but it was with the flow of traffic'' he insinuated that I was thinking of lying in court...what?? He seemed to want an answer of "exactly at the speed limit" or else refused to help. He even said he would appear in court to TESTIFY AGAINST ME (I'm sure he has the time as the office was completely empty). When I tried to leave he kept harassing me and then told me to leave as I was trespassing...Yikes! Funny thing is the dashcam showed concrete evidence that the officer pulled over the wrong vehicle. read more

I got a speeding ticket in Montreal, and I called them and asked them if they work for a client who get a fine in Quebec. The answer was Yes. That's how I wasted my money and time. I hired them for fighting on behalf of me. It took around more than one year. I've just got e-mail saying that finally they've got result from the court which is nothing changed. Original fine was 3 demerit points and $225. But, now I still have 2 demerits point and have to pay $224. and I paid them $452.00 to hire them. I'd paid $452 to make demerit point less only 1 point. Very professional, I think they did a pretty good job, I was given 2 Tickets 1 for 49km/h over the speed limit on the high way and "Un safe lane change" the police officer didn't catch me on radar. He followed me and tracked my speed and took the "average" and then added the line change ticket. It was pricey fine to pay roughly $700-$800. But that wasn't important to me its the insurance increase because I am a young male who lives in Brampton. Which should speak for its self cuz we have the highest rates in the Nation! But anyways they managed to write 1 ticket off completely, and reduced the speed to 29 over the limit, because they were awesome and founds some flaws in the copes report and or evidence against me. In my opinion I shouldn't have to pay anything because the cop had no real evidence against me, no radar or camera just a his word against mine and a report. But he showed up to court and pressured the judge to increase the speed, fines, and demerit points to 60km/H over the limit cuz he is an ass****. So my defense did a very good job at defending me despite the added pressure of things possibly getting worse and choose to plead guilty to a lesser charge. So for that I say well done thank-you it makes a huge difference for me, because I can still afford my insurance, and there for I can still afford to go school, because I can still go to work to make enough to pay for both. I also kept my car which was good, (if charged with 50km/H over the cops get to impound your car up to 11-15 days and then you pay another $1000 to get it back). I paid roughly $165.00 for the ticket and $750 for this service, and I can honestly say in the long ran; I think I will save roughly $10800 in 3 years through Insurance only. I did some rough math and with a major fine like 50 over the limit would have actually roughly doubled my insurance quote on my car until the ticket is removed from my record. So good Job guys! keep de-crediting the police where you can, stand your ground, there just a bunch of bullies with power, who don't care about how the lives of the people they sever can be affect by them. I meet with a paralegal who says that I have to sign a $5000 deal contract with him before I meet with my lawyer, half of which I paid before I met with the lawyer, Peter, who tells me to plead guilty-- there's no way to win. So now I'm almost 5 grand out I tell him to fight it. They ask for another 3.5 grand for a total of $8500 to do trial which they lose. It wasn't even the worst case. I've met with the lawyer 2 times, he didn't prepare at all. They just rob your money. Don't waste your time with these clowns. read more

Not satisfied with my X-Copper experience. Before they had earned my business, the team seemed eager to help and incredibly optimistic about the outcome of fighting my first ever speeding ticket. I received a consultation package outlining the 5 options (in order of preference) that the team would be working towards, in addition to the lump sum fee of $400 (pre tax). As soon as I had paid for the services, the outlook seemed to change and the outcome was no longer as promising. Over a year later, I received an updated retainer that I was asked to sign. The updated retainer detailed new options, although the 5 options that were on my original consultation package were no longer available. In short, when I first retained X Copper it seemed likely that the ticket could be dropped, and worst case scenario 3 out of 4 demerit points would be dropped. While I am grateful that the ticket price decreased by about $100 and 1 demerit was dropped, this is nowhere near what was discussed when I had first hired X-Copper. The fee of $400 was determined based on the initial 5 options, and none of these were made available to me. Instead, I paid the same $400 fee for options of lesser value to me. I am disappointed in the lack of communication throughout the file in addition to the false sense of confidence that was given to earn my business. read more

I contacted X copper about fighting a speeding ticket I received, Paid their fee and took them on as my representatives. The day after my trial date I called them to get the results as I was instructed to, the rep I spoke to told me they had good news that my speeding charge had been pled down to another charge. The charge they told me didn't make sense to me on the phone, it seemed much more serious than a speeding charge, they assured me it was normal and we hung up. I than did some research and the charge they told me was a charge given to people in an at fault accident, sometimes reckless driving causing an accident and other serious driving infractions are pled down to this charge. I called them back very concerned as I was worried my insurance would think I had been in an at fault accident, they basically blew me off, told me thats what they had accepted, it was official and that they would follow up with an official email. A little while later I received an official email, on X Copper letterhead (a legal document from my representatives) stating that my charge had been pled down to this charge as I had been instructed. I started to panic and began calling other law firms, seeing what my options were to appeal this. All the other law firms seemed shocked that a simple speeding charge had been pled down to this charge, I could tell some didn't believe I had just been caught in a speed trap, and kept asking me if I'm sure thats all that happened. Than, another law firm recommended that before they take me on as a client I call the court offices directly and get the resolution directly from them, just to be completely sure before I moved forward. I called the court offices, they told me that my speeding charge had been pled down to disobeying a sign, not the charge that X Copper had repeatedly, and confirmed in official documents, told me that I had been charged with. I called X Copper, they did not seem to care less about this huge and unprofessional mix up, in fact the rep I got on the phone basically blew me off again and told me that her coworker handling my case was on lunch and would call me back. Eventually I got a new email from X Copper updating the resolution after I fixed it for them, and spent hours researching and contacting other lawyers to work it out. To make matters worse when speaking with my mom about this later, she informed me that she recently also got a speeding ticket, fought it herself and had the exact same reduction in charge and resolution, only she had her fine lowered even more so than mine. Basically X Copper was absolutely useless and had I fought it myself I would have saved their $400 fee and had my fine lowered even more. In Summary only use XCopper if you're looking for a completely unprofessional and useless law firm, in fact they will cause you much more grief, work and panic than you would have had before. read more

This is a scam. they take advantage of people's inexperience with the court system and their fear of demerit points. I had 300 worth of tickets none of which would have had demerit points and they said "$700 and well pay your fine if we lose". So they would go in say they lost pay my fine and keep 400. Anyone who goes themself will get to make a deal with the prosecutor for a lower charge and less or no demerit points. All they do is make the deal for you, and they dont get any better result than you would. Ive had 3 consultations with them and every time it was clear what the scam was. They pushed my trial back three times hoping the cop wouldn't show, but he did, and I got convicted for speeding. I would have had better luck representing myself. They promised me that at the very least no demerit points. In the end, I'm out $300, and I have to pay the fine for the ticket, which is $75. Very Bad experiance with Xcopper Ottawa Branch. Got a speeding ticket on my way to Montreal from Toronto. Had no other choice to give it to fight to someone there. So i chose Xcopper Ottawa and dealt Richard . Got speeding ticket for 133 in 100 Zone 4 demerit points. Worst service every seen had experiance with other paralegal services and had no problems. But Xcopper did not even goto the court and got 3 points over the phone in early resolution Date. I am in Media will also be creating a blog for Xcopper services and will expose how they are charging 4 times more than other companies and not even doing anything what they are suppose to.
