For starters, very few stations can say they have stuck with the same format and formula for over 20 years - and have it work - but WIIL rock can. They stand out from the other corporate owned clones of each other found everywhere on the dial today. The morning show is original and the hosts do a decent job entertaining. Even if the humor gets silly, you can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do - and try to have fun with it. Take a listen to WTMX in the morning (or the Drive..etc.), and if you have not vomited from the innocuous prepacked "McBanter" than you should not listen to WIIL. If you appreciate real people - flaws and all on air - and real rock - then 95 WIIL rock is your station.

I'm literally on the radio milwaukee right now, parked out front and starting this review on the…read moreWiFi... was in town for a couple weeks between the holidays and stumbled upon the morning show after thirteen hour shifts at the steam plant. all through the morning I enjoyed listening to a nice mixxy mix of styles and artists from the tragically hipster to forced urban anger, artfully crafted melodies to pretense with poetry. my favorites were the delightfully odd bits of musicality that pop up around 7:30 in the morning - some sort of bacon or something... public radio: it's public it's radio; it's radio for, by, and to the public as only Milwaukee can do it - it's rare to find a medium so well done.

WHAD seems to have a much larger variety of Wisconsin-centric programming, but I prefer WUWM's lineup. I'm addicted to it, really. The majority of their programming is made up of the nationally-syndicated shows (All Things Considered, etc), but the locally-produced programs like Lake Effect are excellent. Perhaps I'm choosing not to notice a slant, but it seems like it's a rare feat for a talk radio station to be anything other than a constant stream of opinions. Consider this the panacea for Mark Belling-/Sly Sylvester-induced nausea, depending on your political stance. Can a positive Yelp review be a substitute for a monetary donation to WUWM? I hope so. Then maybe I won't feel so guilty when they do fund drives.....

Every day religiously I listen to this station. They are my morning news source and dammit I need…read moreit! I can't imagine riding to work without it! It's almost as if it were as vital as the air I breathe, well wait maybe not that needed but eesh a day without it I feel a bit lost! It's definetly a part of the morning routine. Must make coffee, must listen to Morning Edition and the BBC Network. These things go hand in hand. It's a tradition of listening handed down to me by my pops.I even have my wife taking part in it. The weekends it's Car Talk even the reruns then Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I love it all. To me it is radio at it's finest. The heightening of the sense of mental visualization through listening. It will always beat watching TV hands down.

They have some really good shows. Most of the shows are talk, but there are some good music shows too, mostly showcasing local music. There is a lot of good local music.

Literally, with the volume of music that fits their format, they should not have to repeat a song even once in an entire month. I am sure some idiot consultant tells them to play "this Bon Jovi song at this time every day, and this one Rolling Stones song, and this one Aerosmith song..." Makes me want to puke.
