We ordered tea, cupcakes, brie sandwich and for me a lovely caramel sundae. The price for the ice cream was £3.50 and the size was huge. What you got for your money was so much more than I had expected. The restaurant is conveniently located off the main shopping area where you can get all sort of flowers and other plants, even a Jacuzzi for £9000, if you have the money to space. The garden dolls (dogs, cats, lambs etc are adorable). We placed ourselves conveniently on a table in the winter garden. It was too hot to sit outside on the terrace. Yes you heard right, too hot :-) There were open views onto the garden center back garden. If you are a local, this is an ideal place to spend a few hours and explore, especially when the sun is shining.

Johnny and Billy, both well informed salesmen, looked after us with Johnny doing the final price negotiations . The goods arrived within a few days, delivered by two charming men who unpacked and assembled everything to our satisfaction. They took all the packaging away for recycling . From start to finish we have enjoyed a first rate experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oaktree and their staff.

I have to say that I've bought loads of things here but I don't think I've ever bought anything for the garden! The run-up to Christmas is a great time to go as there's a large range of trees, lights and decorations as well as gifts. There's a restaurant and there are often events run for children in the school holidays (birds of prey days, for example) and of course Santa comes to visit at Christmas. There's also a Food Shop with home-made cakes and pastries. There are always staff around who are happy to help you and gardening experts are available for advice on plants and growing conditions. The kind of place you can spend ages looking round and come away with something you didn't even know you wanted!

Whenever I have sought advice on plants it has been freely given by the very helpful staff all of whom seem genuinely interested in the plants and the well being of their customers. Notcutts in Bagshot has a great pet shop with a resident giant rabbit and many hand tame birds such as parrots and miner birds which are able to fly free in the shop. This makes for a unique experience and a sure hit with the kids. The animals all look well cared for and the staff seem to know their stuff. One let down is the aquarium centre. Here, in contrast to the pet shop, the fish do not look to be in such good condition. In fact, on my last visit, there seemed to be several fish in several tanks that were either dead or clearly unwell. It may have been that these were hospital tanks but there was no indication that this was the case and in any event it seemed to be isolated fish that were affected. The cafe is great and reasonably priced. The Christmas Exhibition (starting in late Oct!) is worth a visit in itself!

The store isnt very well laid out and the displays were very heavy making it feel slightly claustraphobic. There is alot to offer but make sure you know in advance where everything is otherwise its a long trip back on the one path.
