Worst gym I have ever attended, I found the family run business particular the owner unhelpful and very rude to members, the overall general attitude of the business is intolerable. Since joining the club I found the club to be nothing as advertised, very over priced, gym equipment worn some being unusable and overall dated. As a paying member I was charged monthly just shy of £70 for all access, this was 5 pools, bar and a very small gym. I very quickly learned that I was paying a high price mainly to heat 5 pools, everything else seemed irrelevant and certainly did not warrant the premium prices.
Signing up was very easy, I was informed I could use the equipment as advertised and told I would receive a welcome pack, this was 7 days after joining. what customers are not told when signing up that it is mandatory to attend a health and safety induction by weekly appointment. The second day I introduced a friend to the facility as a guest. We attended the gym at 20.30pm for an hour session in the gym, on arriving with a guest we was rudely stopped by the reception advising me that I had not completed a health and safety induction and that I had to book one before using the gym, both us was not allowed to enter.
I asked to speak to the general manager and explained that I had used the gym the day prior and wasn't told. 15 minutes we was allowed to enter the gym, my guest had to pay £11.00 (so the mandatory health and safety induction never took place)
When entering the gym at 20:45 the gym manager immediately came over to us both an told us to hurry up as he wanted to close the gym early and that we should not of even been allowed to enter, he was very rude and left me quite embarrassed. We trained for 15 minutes and he came over to us again and told us to leave the gym as he was closing.
My guest unhappy raised the issue when leaving and asked the manager if we could come back in the next morning early instead of being refunded they refused and didn't seem bothered. They were more interested in keeping the £11.00 they even said that we would have to pay again. The gym was actually open until 21:30 but they didn't seem bothered that we were still asked to leave before the closure.
I contacted the Director the following day and quickly learned then that I was speaking to one of the brothers that owned it. He was very arrogant and did not seem at all bothered what had happened, he point blank blamed me for the mistake and refused to co-operate in resolving the issue, he refused to refund the £11.00 and did not care at all about me introducing a new member to the establishment, his attitude was volatile unprofessional and very challenging. I got nowhere with him. My guest said he would never step foot back in the place again he left disgusted by the general attitude of the staff in which the owner though was acceptable.
The second week of my membership I received an email advising members that they could not use the gym for 2 days as they was updating the gym equipment. As a dedicated gym user I contacted the gym again and spoke to the brother of the owner and asked if I would get two days added to my membership.
He point blank said no. shocked in disbelief I challenged this with the view of not being fair to the members, who are charged a ridiculous premium to use the facility and that something should be given back to the members as goodwill. He did not care and said they would not be doing anything to compensate the losses of memberships. I was told to go elsewhere if i wasn't happy. I still wasn't allowed to use the gym for the 2 days and extra days to my membership would be even be considered.
When entering the gym after this amazing update referred to in there news letter and all over Facebook, I was shocked tofind only 3 new machines had been updated, they were running machines. 2 days really!!! I asked why I wasn't allowed to use the gym for such minimal working which they cowardly blamed the delivery. I told them that in my past experience gym equipment could of been stored and placed throughout the night after closing and customers to avoid members loosing days of there membership. I was told members were still charged because of the money it cost to heat the 5 pools. I could not believe my ears.
lastly I entered the gym and my membership card did not work, I was told that I had ordered food and money was outstanding. I told them that this was a misunderstanding as I had not ordered food, the owner came up to me in the middle of my gym workout and challenged me, he was rude and unprofessional what a joke. I told him to speak to me on my own about it after I had trained, he walked past me in changing room whistling not a word from him and remained to hang around the toilets until I left.
When exiting I asked to speak to him on his own. Say no more - I've now ended my membership. This establishment is not worth the money, spend your money with business people that appreciates it read more
