I have been a customer at Pomfret Gallery for many years…read more Over those years the gallery has weathered every economic situation the country has known and still Chris and Linda, the owners, have always been courteous, helpful and completely professional. The stock they hold has also changed to reflect the demands of the time and also to keep progressing and moving forward and though they don't carry the variety of on-line shops or larger hobby shops they stock quality materials at reasonable prices,it is local and they are only too pleased to offer advise if it is needed. You don't get that personal service on-line or in larger hobby stores as the staff there just man the tills! I have all my picture frames made there and have never had any problems infact I am probably more of a problem to them as they have to constantly source the moulding to suit my work and framing supply stock changes regularly so it is a constant re-think. !! The upstairs picture gallery is now evolving more and holds an interesting mix of original work and not just prints...a brave move in a new economic downturn....but that is Pomfret Gallery, all credit to them. The team are friendly, helpful and professional and have a wide range of wood and metal frames made to order using in stock materials or special order material. You can also pick up a ready made frame with standard or non standard sizes dotted around the shop alongside artwork for sale. There is the option of non reflective art glass for a really reasonable price and finished frames are amazingly priced for the quality. I would be lost without this service and would highly recommend them. An added bonus is their sweet Jack Russell colleague who always brings a smile to my face. Easy parking directly outside the shop.

I could probably have found the same or a similar thing cheaper online, but sometimes you just don't want to do that (plus if there is something wrong you have the hassle of sending it back and trying to get your money back). I was satisfied with their product and service. The place itself is in a back street and takes a little trouble to find as it is set off the road, but it is quite well-presented when you get inside, plus they have a lot of ready-made frames that are cheaper than having one specially made if you can find one to suit you. No problems.

They have a wide range of different frame types to choose from and do many things other than framing, including restoring old oil paintings and prints, mount cutting and wash lining (don't ask me what the last two things are). The staff at The Picture Framer clearly know their stuff, and it's delightful to see a shop performing such a highly-skilled, specialist service still going strong after 35 years. I will definitely venture to The Picture Framer for any future picture framing needs!

I drove past The Leeds Picture Framer every day for a couple of years and onlu spotted it a few weeks ago, so I popped in with the painting, not knowing what to expect. I had no clue how much this sort of thing cost, but the lovely framer man was very kind and patient and explained that it would only be about £20-£30 and helped me pick a frame, and it took a week to do and now looks lovely. It was £25. Thank you Leeds Picture Framer Dude!

We chose this shop as its just near to where we live and I always liked the look of the pictures in the window. This shop has a lot of choice when it comes to frames in terms of material options and colours. The quite abrupt salesman showed us how they would lay it out within the frame and it seemed ok at the time. I did think the price was steep but I assumed we would get top quality workmanship for that money and be delighted with the result. Sadly this was not the case. When we picked it up It did look very different to how the gentleman in the shop laid it out however and was a lot more closely cropped, the picture was off centre with much more white to one side than the other. I thought it was very expensive for the poor end result, the service was not friendly at all and after telling us 4 days they didn't call us for two weeks and we had to chase them up about it. Overall poor quality and awful service - do not use this shop.

I get all my picture framing done downstairs in The Gallery (which has a different feel to the upstairs) as Chris gives discount to artists. He is one of the best in the business and has a real flair for presenting your picture in the most eye-catching way and is not afraid to advise you on what will look best which I find really helpful. While I was there he was framing a football shirt and claims he can frame anything! There is some fantastic original art and prints down there too and frequent new exhibitions. It is worth a look even if you do not need any pictures framing and Saltaire has a good vibe, it is worth a visit anytime.

February 2018 Excellent service, and a fine lesson on colour…read morechoices for double mounts. I have been buying my mountboard and backing from Tony for probably 5/6 years now, to mount my Camera Club Competition entries. This has not involved spending large amounts, but nevertheless every single time I go in I receive help and advice and an extremely friendly service from both Tony and Christy. On my most recent visit, Friday 9th Feb 2018, along with a fellow club member, we spent ages with Tony whilst he guided us and showed us comparisons of shades to use for double mounts which complemented each of our different 6 images. We had an idea what we wanted when we went in, but when we left we were no less than "gobsmacked" by his suggestions which of course we went with, and came away with prints which we we both so proud to say "we made these" when in fact Tony's expertise had really made the images something special. I must also mention that while Tony was helping us both, Christy was busy with the cutting, all this and no hint at all to us that Tony really needed to be off and doing his deliveries! So we must both apologise to him, and will promise not to do that again on a Friday afternoon! Christy also took the time to give me some advice I needed on using my own mount cutter. I had suddenly lost confidence with it after making some bad cuts, she was able to offer me some tips which I'm sure will get me going again. So, finally, big thank you and we will continue to be loyal customers. Heather

She has some great ideas to help the building become a hub of design and quirky places. - very cool indeed.
