Poor quality of work, overpriced and awful customer service - avoid. I'd bought a picture as a Christmas gift for Dan and we only just had it framed months later! We chose this shop as its just near to where we live and I always liked the look of the pictures in the window. This shop has a lot of choice when it comes to frames in terms of material options and colours. The quite abrupt salesman showed us how they would lay it out within the frame and it seemed ok at the time. I did think the price was steep but I assumed we would get top quality workmanship for that money and be delighted with the result. Sadly this was not the case. When we picked it up It did look very different to how the gentleman in the shop laid it out however and was a lot more closely cropped, the picture was off centre with much more white to one side than the other. I thought it was very expensive for the poor end result, the service was not friendly at all and after telling us 4 days they didn't call us for two weeks and we had to chase them up about it. Incredibly poor service. We spent a substantial amount of money having a picture framed only to find there were no hooks or hanging wire on the frame despite being assured otherwise. When we realised their mistake we rang to see what could be done and we were assured someone would come to our house he next day to rectify the issue. We waited in all afternoon but never received a call. After hearing nothing for several days, to our amazement, we received a set of hooks in the post with no note or instructions as to what to do with them. So now we're left with an expensive picture that we can't hang on our wall. Very disappointing. Suffice to say, we won't be using this company again. read more

I needed a Christmas present for my Dad framing so popped down to In The Frame to see what they could offer. Met with very friendly staff who definitely knew their stuff and suggested complimentary mounts and frame. I picked it up after a couple of weeks (they use a text message alert which was handy) and they had done an excellent job. I would say though that they are somewhat more expensive compared to another framing shop I had used in the recent past, but perhaps that was down to different areas of local affluence I don't know. read more

I recently had cause to find someone who could handle a bespoke framing job for me... I wanted a number of wartime photos and my grandfathers medals framed in a presentation montage to give to my Dad for his birthday. I needed a framing shop that would handle more than the traditional framing job, the advice and creativity of a credible assistant, and someone trustworthy who I could give my precious family artefacts to in order to get the job done... I have to say that the staff at In the Frame ticked all the boxes and did a great job. They were able to advise on all the possibilities open to me, and although the guy I worked with (I think his name was James) hadn't done exactly this type of work before, he offered sensible suggestions, knew what he was doing and handled the job from beginning to end. They worked with a limited design brief, but assured me with their suggestions that they knew exactly what they were doing, turned the job round in a short window of time (around a week) which included ordering in wood for the frame and a specific coloured card for the mount. I would have no hesitation in using them again and would heartily recommend that you do the same! read more

I had a copy made of a photograph of my great grandfather in his WW1 uniform and took the original with me to show how I wanted it to look. I spent a long time choosing a frame and gold mount that matched the original as closely as possible. I was pursuaded to pay an extra £35 for non-reflective glass taking the total to £130 which I thought was quite expensive but as the shop looks very professional I thought it would be worth paying. They contacted me a couple of weeks later to say that it was ready. When I went to pick it up they had used a paler gold mount than the one I had chosen. The mount and frame were way too big for the picture and the frame had a gap in the corner where it is joined. I said I wasn't happy and walked out of the shop without taking the picture. I now regret not asking for my photograph and deposit back. I went back in the next day and pointed out what was wrong. One of the men in the shop was quite rude and complained that they would have to make another frame but they agreed to put it right. They contacted me again a couple of weeks later to say the picture was ready and it did look a lot better this time. I took it home and hung it on the wall. They had said that the non-reflective glass would not cut out all reflections but it was so bad that I couldn't see the picture through it. I took it back to the shop and they admitted that they had not put non-reflective glass on it and said they would change it. I have just got it back and altough it now does have non-reflective glass there are small white bits behind the glass. I can't face going back again. At £130 it was an expensive lesson but I would never use this shop again. read more
