Rarely, if ever, during drive times does a song end without a commercial playing. Now, granted they're not commercials screaming at me to buy cars that I don't want and previously could not afford, but they are still unwelcome repetitive ads (the main reason I stopped listening to for-profit radio in the late 1980s) - even if they're advertising the station itself - and there aren't that many, so we have to hear them over and over and over and over and over again... Combined with my self-imposed news hiatus (I'm not advocating for cutting the news, I just personally do not want to hear it for 5 minutes every half hour, especially now in March 2025...), I spend more time muting and changing the station than I do actually listening, so unfortunately I can rarely listen to this station anymore.

According to the paper's website it is the only African American publication in Florida that prints twice weekly and owns all its own printing equipment. The paper originally operated in Jacksonville, Florida In 1919 before closing during the Great Depression. It was reopened as a weekly by the son of the owner of that paper, C. Blythe Andrews, in Tampa in December, 1945 at 1511 Central Avenue. The Tampa Bulletin was purchased in 1959 and became twice weekly. In 1962 the paper moved to its current location of 2207 East 21st Avenue. It seems to be distributed mostly around the Sulphur Springs area of Tampa and I have not seen it much elsewhere. I would describe it as old school. Here's the paper's website: http://flsentinel.com/

The staff is very polite and knowledgeable.
