I've been going to bars regularly since I turned 21, and somehow I encountered a 40+ year-old bartender who seemed completely unfamiliar with the concept of a passport being a valid form of identification. She had to google whether or not it's a accepted to pour a drink. She held onto my passport for over five minutes.
Please train your staff--not just on acceptable forms of ID, but on the increasingly rare art of treating customers like human beings. There's a difference between doing your job and making someone feel like they're inconveniencing you by simply existing or asking for a drink..
And just a friendly reminder: when your income depends on tips, being rude, condescending, and generally unpleasant probably isn't the genius business strategy you think it is.
I'll be back, because I actually like the bar. But I'll be back when the A-team is working. This particular experience was definitely a solid reminder of which staff members to avoid.
