Little did I know what a true gift it was for our family. Lisa met our group of 8 at the designated park right on time. She really has a great way of working with both adults and kids and has an eye for focusing on the person but encompassing the beautiful background. We never felt rushed and were able to request specific groups for pictures. We all left feeling really positive and excited. The hardest part was waiting for the results and hoping they would turn out as great as we had hope. The results are in! They are ALL amazing! We may not be the most photogenetic family out there, but all our pictures made us look fantastic. Lisa took the most beautiful pictures we have ever had. I am so thankful and appreciative that we did this photo shoot. I can't recommend Capture Aloha Photography enough. I ended up buying all the pictures because I don't know when we will all be together again and they were truly outstanding. And the price is very reasonable. I have no complaints. I just wish I had known about them sooner.

I admittedly looked into things later than I should have and was relieved when Matthew told me he was available the day before we departed back to the Mainland. We opted for a 2-hour sunset session as I wanted to capture some of those beautiful Hawaiian shave-ice colored skies! We were pleasantly surprised when both Matthew and Madelynne showed up -- I wasn't expecting a second shooter! My husband is a bit shy/nervous in front of the camera, but these two made it so fun and easy! (In fact, after the trip my husband admitted the photography session was a major highlight of our vacation!) They were great at directing and open to ideas. They also gave us a few moments to enjoy the sunset to ourselves which made for some great candid shots. They have an excellent eye for capturing both expressions, moments, and of course, the breathtaking landscape of Hawaii. (definitely check out their website and blog -- they have the ability to capture lovely images at all times of day -- early morning, midday, sunset, and even the beautiful starlit sky) We started out in the early evening at our hotel and moved down to a secluded beach later for the sunset session. I honestly did not know exactly what to expect, but after receiving the images (super quick to boot - the turn around time for our session was about a week!!!) I was FLOORED - - I loved just about every single picture. Their style is so unique and unexpected...sophisticated, artistic yet accessible, playful and romantic. You'll definitely have a few pictures that you'll want to blow up and hang above the fireplace! :) For the quality of work you are getting, they are a STEAL. After doing some other research online, I am convinced they are one of the best on the island. I was also quite pleased with their response time -- communicating and coordinating was easy. Although Matthew and Madelynne aren't natives, they really do embody the spirit of the islands -- they are incredibly knowledgeable about island history (in fact, aside from their photography, I think they also do tours!) and spiced up our session with fun facts about Maui and the surrounding islands. Initial contact occurred via email, and she responded very quickly (I think within an hour or so). We arranged a Zoom call to make sure it was a good fit at her suggestion, which was extra effort that we appreciated. She immediately made us feel comfortable and confident that we found our photographer. She described her approach to the work, and had a lot of fantastic ideas for the shoot that we were on board with. Communication was easy and prompt the entire time, and the shoot itself was nothing short of magical. The weather and location were absolutely perfect, and my wife and I had a blast the entire time. We have a 20 month old who was not very interested in taking photos and she was able to still get many BEAUTIFUL shots of our family. Very natural photos which have life and vitality. Not your typical staged, stagnant family photos. She is very kind and easy to work with. Great with kids! Other photographers in the same price point only offered half of shooting time she provided and only 10-15ish edited photos. She offered 1hr for 100 edited photos. Quite a significant increase in value considering her work is so excellent.
