I found them when she was in seventh grade…read more At that time, I was looking for math tutoring because she was invited to take the PSAT in 7th grade, and I wanted her to be as prepared as possible. Dr. Williams worked with her and as a result of her high PSAT score, she was invited into the Duke Talent Identification Program. I was so impressed by the level of tutoring and her subsequent understanding of the subject matter, that I decided to have her attend Jet on a regular basis. Over the years, Jet helped her develop, prepare, and ultimately win awards for science fair projects. They even sponsored a trip for her to Kiana, Alaska for community service. Jet helped prepare her in algebra, geometry, pre calculus and AP Calculus classes in addition to physics and chemistry. They also helped her study for the SAT during her junior/ senior year. My daughter's score on the SAT was quite impressive and she now attends Vanderbilt University. Much of her success is due to Jet Learning Laboratory. I would recommend Jet without reservation based on the high impact tutoring and the relationship that the staff forms with the students and parents. I recently attended an event at this College of Law and wanted to say what a lovely hidden gem it…read moreis. I had never really taken any notice of the building downtown until this past week. I guess one of the organizers for the event had a friend at the college of law, because the event I went to had nothing to do with law or the college. There is a lovely space on the 6th floor that has a large outdoor garden and terrace. Our event was great, but what really made it a fun evening was the space. The garden outside (sorry no photos) has a variety of places to sit and stand. There are potted plants, benches, and it wraps around the building. From the terrace you can see the Toyota Center, and it looks out toward Discovery Green even though you can't see the green itself. You can also see off to EaDo and parts of downtown. If I was given the chance, I would definitely go to or host an event there again. Anywhere with an open rooftop terrace downtown is a winner in my book, especially on a cool breezy February evening!

Can you really claim that a law school is a business?…read more I guess I'll go with the flow then. It is the oldest law school in Houston and the third oldest (est. 1923) in all of Texas; that's a pretty big feat (everything's bigger in...oh you know) considering the size of this State. South Texas College of Law was one of my top choices of law schools to attend. I had participated in an orientation for prospective students a few months before applying and fell in love with the facilities that this school provided. Their library is extensive, their decor is aesthetically pleasing, and they boast state of the art facilities. First off, the law school is separated into two buildings, the tower and the library. The tower houses all the classrooms and Professor offices; the library portion houses, well, the library and study rooms. I'll start with what makes/breaks the tower side. First off, the rooms are considerably advanced as far as technology. They have flat screen televisions and computers as well as a plug for laptops at each chair in the room. The one negative about the classrooms is that the wireless, for some reason, does not reach for the majority of classrooms. This could be looked as a positive, though, for those who find internet a distraction. The library is a great place, though...at least when you're not having to study. The wireless reaches on every level (once you actually figure out how to get it working) and the study rooms provide a substantial hiding place for extensive studies; most everyone is accommodating to the need for quiet. Each floor of the library has around nine tables complete with lamps that have ethernet plugs and power outlets built into them; the chairs aren't too shabby for comfort either. I love the fact that each floor has walls of windows that look out to the Toyota Center and the hustle & bustle below; this blows other schools out of the water when it comes to libraries (*cough* Rice *cough*, sorry but your library is claustrophobic). The public is allowed to use our library with a valid ID shown to the front desk security. One of my favorite spots in the school is the patio on the roof of the library. It is an amazing place to relax and take in the wonderful weather afforded us every once in awhile in Texas; sometimes you can even find someone talking about topics other than the upcoming finals or law school in general (that is always a relief, who wants to talk about law school while we're standing on top of the law school?) The staff is always willing to work with you on anything you need. They all seem to support you and push to give you everything necessary for a positive atmosphere; Lord knows we law school kids need it! During each finals period the school provides a masseuse that sits in the foyer and gives massages by appointment. The thing that had drawn me to this school is the fact that every lawyer I talk to tells me South Texas not only teaches you the law but it is the only school that teaches you how to be a lawyer. Case in point, the Moot Court team is #1 in the nation with over 100 wins (even over Harvard). If you're going to have to put yourself through hell (a.k.a law school in general) then you might as well attend a school you actually enjoy being in.

I spent 2 months trying to get copies of transcripts they may except. Still haven't found them all but I hope this one from the State of Texas will be excepted. The wait after checking in is long today. Went to their store hoping to find something to snack on. Sadly it is full of Fake Chemical laden US food Products. If ppl would only stop buying that crap maybe it will push the food Companies to take all the garbage out and start offering all organic products.

This is a surprisingly nice campus deep in Stafford, just down the road from the Stafford Center…read more The other HCC locations I've encountered have been converted buildings-- a Midtown skyrise, an old Home Depot, a Planet Hollywood-- and this is the first that looks like it was actually built to be some kind of educational facility. The campus sprawls across several buildings with multiple parking lots, well-manicured lawns, and a large lake. Most classes are in a three story building in the middle of the campus, with registration, advising, and financial aid on the first floor. Directories of class locations are posted to make finding your classroom easy. The only major knock on this place is that the parking lot is on the back of the building, making for a long walk to the entrance.

The problem isn't the teachers, and it's a shame that they be punished. But its the management, specifically their policies, which are decidedly not customer friendly. I would recommend first that people find another place to teach their children music. However, if you still decide to go here take this piece of advice and read the policies carefully. Here's the big problem for us; you pay all your fees for a month's worth of lessons up front at the beginning of the month. Okay, that's understandable. However, if you know you are going to be out of town for a week or two you can't just pay for the 2-3 weeks you are going to use. You still have to pay for the whole month regardless because if you don't the management "can't promise they won't give your spot or teacher away to another student." Okay ... that's weird, so can I roll over that time to another month? No. So I'm just paying for time I don't use? No, you can do extra or make up classes! Okay ... so when do I do make up classes? In off times, with different teachers whenever they fit us in, and it's never your time because that's already paid for, it has to be another time, which of course won't fit into your family's schedule. Okay, well families with children never have emergencies or times when things beyond their control happen, right? How does the school handle rescheduling. Answer? They don't. I asked around my neighborhood message boards and found out that 10 other families had left the school as well due to the policies of the management. Basically, if you sign up for this school you have to commit as a family to never go on vacation or have any other time conflict with the time you set up for your children until the day you leave the school because you will be required to pay your fees not matter what, with very little effort to help make up the classes, and you will lose that money. We loved the teacher we had, but after throwing over $800 away with no hint of empathy or desire to please the customer from the management, we had to quit.

The Caucasian lady even accused us of being homeless and said that since the recent death of the doctor that more homeless people flock at the Pizza Hut. The security guard had to escort us to our designated location and didn't even believe us when we told him who was conducting the study. Utterly disgusting. I was considering this TWU to be on my pre-professional school list, but I guess I'll see about TWU-Dallas instead.

The graduate classes costs about $1100 a class and range between 3-7 week sessions. During the hotter months, they are hesitant to turn on the air so it gets really hot and vice versa during the colder months. The plus is that there are some great teachers (even though most of them fly down from Dallas) Overall, I have enjoyed the majority of my experiences in the program and would recommend it to others.
