Other companies either wanted us to sign a contract right away or didn't provide design services at all. We chose Bora because they came to our house, made measurements right away, listened to our ideas and created a design without making us sign a contract. It really helped us visualize what we wanted. One thing I also appreciated was the fact that they came professionally dressed in their Bora Construction uniforms. This is not a big detail, but it shows they have pride in what they do. Other general contractors showed up in jeans and a t-shirt. Throughout the project, the project manager at Bora was very communicative and gave us a heads up on how the project was going. When they found a water pipe and HVAC inside the wall we wanted to knockdown, they developed a way to reroute the plumbing and HVAC on the same day and without the ridiculous cost overrun. They basically charged me for just the materials. It's this courtesy that they showed throughout the project. They did such a great job, we asked them to do the same cabinetry and flooring on the powder room. It wasn't in the original estimate and timeline, but they added it to the scope of the project and still kept their delivery date. Wow! The quality is top notch. The engineered vinyl tile looks beautiful and the stacked stone on the fireplace looks absolutely gorgeous. They made expert suggestions like adding more recessed lighting to the dining area and living room, which makes our home so much warmer and brighter. I have pictures of before and after. I'll be posting those if I can. We are pleased with our choice to go with Bora Construction. Oh, one more thing. The price was cheaper than the competitors by more than 10%. I know this for a fact because we gave the same specifications and ideas to two other companies. The other companies suggested similar materials and methods, but charged more. I've gotta give a big thumbs up to Calvin…read more He finished up the remodel/addition 3 years ago, I started having some issues with concrete patio settling and pulling sidings and roof support post with it. I told him about this issue within the warranty period but the patch up he did 2 years ago failed right away. The warranty period then ended. I kept asking him to correct this nonetheless. Although it took a long time for him to get back to me at times, he never said no, never said anything about us no longer being past warranty. And finally, late last year, he got around to addressing this. In the end, he undertook a fairly extensive repair, demoing the patio, digging deep, hiring a concrete sub, rebuilding a new patio. He didn't take shortcuts, did it all at his expense. Of course, in this situation, that was ultimately the right thing for him to do. But the point is, he didn't run away from my concerns, he always communicated in friendly and reasonable manner, and came through in the end. I think this is more than you can expect from a lot of contractors out there. He sure won my respect.

Everyday after his work got progressively worse till he finally exploded and started swearing about the job being too big. We took a break for a month and asked him to come back and inspect his work and fix the poor work and finish the rest of the job, he cancelled 15 minutes before the walk through. Threaten to file a lien if we did not pay him in full including the unfinished work. You would be making a huge mistake to hire him. I am happy to send the crazy text message exchange more photos of the terrible work. He sued in small claims court and got another 1500 dollars. Needless to say the $8,000 job will now cost $13,000 after the $5500 we paid him including the judgement which the split between our different perspectives. I ordered some closet systems and they made sure everything would fit and installed everything, including assembly, patched up carpeting and made sure all the dry wall, moldings and etc looked polished.
