They randomly decided to start taking 50% of my auto loan payments to cover "their insurance" at a 500% increase over my current rate and decided to repo truck 12 months later instead of talking to me one of the 12-18 times I had been inside personally to make the payments. no letter to house (later found out mail was being returned to them but told me it's still my responsibility to get their letters). No calls, no text, nothin. just taking half my payments to put towards this insurance I never even got a card or anything else for. I would NOT ever get a loan with these people unless you want to repeatedly deal with unprofessional service. Also, 2 years ago I had to close my account with them due to taking out 2-3 payments a month randomly without my consent. read more

I have had a car loan through them for a few years. They are unorganized and have reported falsely to my credit report numerous times. If you have to call them be prepared to be on hold forever. I am at the stage I would take a higher interest rate to be with any other loan holder then weight Patt. read more

Online mobile checking scanner is horrible - almost never works and takes 100 tries and once you get it in they still reject it. Check got lost when it was mailed to them and when I called to talk to a manager - got cut off and wasn't called back. Really? Additionally takes nearly 10 business days to get a new credit card and no less than 7 for a debit card which leaves you vulnerable when you don't live in Ohio. No tap card for payment (it's 2024!) and my credit card interest rate has doubled since 2015 (ugh). After nearly 17 years I may take my business elsewhere but still deciding. Overall they were great for almost all the years but they need to get better systems and up with the times. read more

I've used this bank for years. Unfortunately, today I've decided to switch banks. Their online deposit system takes days (this time it will take 6 full days to deposit one check). It's sad to say goodbye to a bank I've used for years, but their customer service really let me down today. I spoke with one employee who was no help and was then transferred to an even worse manager. Her customer service skills were from 1991. Friendly to establish you as a customer, horrible at maintaining relations. Every time I have had to call, the people are rude and incompetent. I was told one time my debit card declined because there were not enough funds, despite the balance was 4 thousand dollars more than the transaction I was attempting to make. Multiple times I have withdrawn money at a branch and half the staff thinks it is their business to know what you are doing with your own money. Rude and disrespectful, they need to mind their own business. read more

Extremely unprofessional and rude staff. I had an interview for a position set for first thing in the morning with WPCU, the date and time were set in advance and confirmed the day before. I was early for my interview, but five minutes after it was slated to start I was notified that my interview was actually going to be canceled as the position was already filled. My interview was quite literally first thing in the morning at the beginning of their business hours, so if the position was already filled they would have known that the day prior and elected to not inform me of that and instead had me come all the way out to be late to their own interview and then retroactively cancel it. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. To hell with working here, I will never do any sort of business with this venomous bunch again. Avoid at all costs. read more

They are increasingly a PITA! I dealt with WPCU for years and enjoyed the experience..... the last few years they are the most difficult to deal with. They ask for more nonsense documents up front (during the pre approval). No other bank or credit union asks for any of it!! been with WPCU for 9 years. after the past 6 months we are leaving them. can never get into our mobile banking now. they put $3000 towards our auto loan for there insurance. when we had insurance. after 2 months of fighting with them. they put $2100 back of the 3k. they constantly lock us out of our account. rude staff. read more

Definitely choose another credit union or banking institution. Horrible experience attempting to open a new checking / savings account. My current bank closed many local branches and I was looking for something closer to home. I have been a customer with Wright Patt for 15 years. I applied for a personal loan and have a stellar pay history on my credit report and a good credit score, my DTI is a bit high and that was the reason I was applying for the loan was to do some debt consolidation and they turned me down. None of the representatives are on the same page and I keep getting different information from everyone that I have spoken with. I called my bank and was able to get approved and funded within 10 minutes. I'll never try to do business with this place again and I will be closing out all of my accounts that I have with them. Hopefully they hire competent people that are aware how the financial industry work. read more

Hey WPCU you suck. You have screwed up two car loans one house loan, and a bank account. Car loan one.. took the day off with my adult son to take car loan cashiers check to dealership for a car and check couldn't be found. Car loan two.. online car purchase paperwork is to be ready when I show-up. I show-up no paperwork. The bank person I'm dealing isn't around. Last minute fax paperwork from dealer to bank is incorrect. After looking at the incorrect numbers I get from the worker "so you not signing the papers" I was trying to buy a rental property, and interest rates are going up and down back then .50 percent. I really want to lock my rate in. I'm calling the lending officer over and over I get no answer from her, and I leave many messages. I do an online mortgage instead, and lock my rate in. She calls after her week vacation, and says "are you still doing that home loan".. I had to close accounts and open new ones because of PayPal fraud.. I was reissued new atm, credit cards and checks that where attached to my old account number. I found this out after I tried to use my newly issued atm card that was rejected at a store. Be me in a line in a store with a bunch people behind you.. embarrassing. read more

Updated December 2021 - Wright Patt has charged me $532 in overdraft fees in 2021! Absolutely absurd... I've been with Wright Patt for several years now. I used to really love them but this past year is making me leave for another financial institution. Like many others, this year has been financially challenging for me. Covid affected my job and I lost a good chunk of income. As a result, I depleted the small savings I had and have struggled to pay bill basically all year. I thought credit unions were supposed to care a bit more about their customers and not do shady stuff like this... Turns out, they are worse than some big banks... They charge you $19 for EVERY PURCHASE you make while overdrafted. Accidentally overdraft your account and don't realize it? make 5 tiny purchases and that's $95 in fees. Buy a $1 water, that's now a $20 water due to the $19 fee... The banking industry makes $12 BILLION in overdraft fees a year. So when a bank/credit union runs out of money, its simply bailed out with YOUR taxpayer money. But when YOU run out of money, they charge you a $19 fee for every purchase... Great system we have here in America... read more

Not only have I experienced better, but I've experienced better from this Credit Union. Having been a member since the mid 1970's, I HAD been well treated for many years, but maybe they've gotten too big. I've had numerous auto loans, my home loan, a home equity line of credit, and then the problems began. I had not realized how much the mortgage AND line of credit were actually costing me, and to make a long story short, after six months of trying, finally writing an e-mail to the President of WPCU, the consolidation and re-finance were finally processed. Having won that fight, and it was a fight, I stayed with the credit union. My daughter is getting ready to enter the work force, and is autistic. We went to the credit union main offices across from WSU and met with a very nice young lady who got her set up and prepared for direct deposit and ordered her a debit card. I am also on her account as I am her legal guardian (she's over 18). The year was coming to an end, she hadn't yet gotten a job, and we had decided not to spend any money on each other for Christmas because I retired this year and we're struggling. She used her debit card on line for a small charge (.99) and was charged $5.00 which put her $5 in the hole. This occurred at the end of November. The credit union didn't express any concern or make her aware of the issue until after January 1st. They called her, then called me. Since they waited until after the first of the year, and I am also on her account, even though I have thousands in the credit union, have a mortgage I've been paying on for over a decade, got a credit card (which was also affected by this issue) with a balance so I have paid my share of interest, I was left out of the share of dividends, which would have been very helpful this year. Why didn't they try to reach us when it occurred? Did they see it was a relatively new account with no activity until that purchase? Did they intentionally wait until we would be left off the share of dividends I earned and needed? I'll never know, but with mortgage rates what they are right now, other banks and credit unions out there who can show my retirement check as a deposit on the first of the month instead of the next business day (up to three days if it's a holiday weekend), I've already transferred the balance of the credit card at 0% and will be shopping for a mortgage and financial institution. read more

I have been a member for over 15 years. I have never felt like less of a member until yesterday. I've always bragged, promoted, recommended WPCU. I've always felt the value as a member ...up until yesterday. The person I spoke with Saturday was very rude, condescending, and could careless of the situation that occurred. The delivery and her approach during my time of need was appalling unacceptable and non-representative of WPCU standards. I am seriously considering changing credit unions. She stated she was being transparent and if that's the representation of WPCU, I am highly disappointed. She was very crass and lacked customer care. I am left wondering why I do I bank with WPCU? I could see if I was disrespectful...but I wasn't. read more

Small local business relationship...have been customer for years. Had a nightmare of an experience with the business and retail side of the operations. I personally have nearly 10 years of banking experience from teller to commercial portfolio manager. I'm over-qualified to comment on what happened, and I ask that anyone consider the following before banking here. That said, this can (and does) happen at any bank, because of the employees. It's not the logo, its the people behind it. As CFO of this company, I requested copies of checks that were written out of the primary business account (which I am a designated signor). Several days pass, all the while under the impression the process was moving forward without issue. After receiving a phone call to come in to the branch to pick them up, I headed over, and was met with secretive discussions and stonewalling. I told the teller I was there to pick up the check copies, he disappeared to the branch managers office, shortly thereafter joined by whom I believe to be the assistant branch manager. A discussion ensues, to which, I was never told what was said or what the issue was. So here I am, wasting my time and money. I'm told the copies have been blocked from being released to me. Why? Because I was not a signor on the account at the date they were written. Oh my God. Personal account, understandable. Business account, hell no. This is borderline illegal. The business is the business, its totally different from a personal account. As CFO, I have access and privileges to ANY financial transactions that have happened since the company's inception. Even if I wasn't even born yet. So, I kindly as possible without destroying the staff in front of other staff and customers, ask to speak to someone of authority beyond what I was speaking. I also informed as full disclosure to the folks I was dealing with that I had worked in banking for a number of years and recognize what was going on is illegal. To their credit, they didn't waiver, stick to your guns. I can't recall how many hours I spent going through this, but I can tell you I wasn't making any money doing it. A day or two later, in a meeting with representatives from the credit union's commercial lending and management, after threatening legal action, I was finally delivered the requested information. They seemed offended by my actions and subsequent responses, almost as if they wanted an apology from me. Keep in mind, what they were doing, was/is illegal. I then turned it around and asked why the delay in completing my request, after all, I was eventually given what I asked for, but why so long? Initially denied access, eventually granted. What happened in between? Very suspicious, very shady, never explained. Obviously, I've since moved our relationship, but as a small business owner reading this, I offer the preceding tale of caution. Can you afford for your CFO to spend 3-4 days to get a copy of check that cleared the account? What's the ultimate cost to you in such a situation? Who has your information? What are their qualifications? Do they know what they are doing? Know your rights. Know what is and isn't allowed or legal. Now, as a "courtesy" I have not named those involved in this debacle. But I do have their names. From the teller, to the branch manager, to the commercial representative, to the commercial manager. After my experience, I did some homework and some networking with old colleagues. Turns out, the commercial manager has a bit of a history. History that can be found in several newspaper articles. Maybe my experience wasn't as unusual as it seemed. Maybe it's the status-quo. If you're a small business, do your homework on your lender, their boss, and their histories. Most people do more research before buying a car. Why wouldn't you do the same with your money? If you happen to be one of the individuals discussed above, and think "I know who that is" that wrote that. You bet you do. I know you too. : ) read more

WPCU offers free checking and savings accounts! The interest rates for loans is lower than what you would find at another financial institution. As the largest credit union in OH they have tons of locations to visit from Cincinnati to Columbus. The technology offered is top notch as well (ApplePay, mobile check deposit, online banking, etc.) I would highly recommend! read more

I have all kinds of Loans with WPCU. My mortgage, a few auto loans, credit Cards and all my accounts. Their Customer service is amazing and all their advances in technology make it so easy to do my banking. I love their personal tellers! I was hesitant at first, but in the age of smart phones and everything done online, this is a wonderful personal option with a great technical twist. I love the little office by Costco. Very friendly and helpful environment. They make you feel welcome unlike most of the stuffy fish tanks in the area. The Waiting area is very large and has many different areas to sit with multiple televisions for viewing news or whatever happens to be playing. There is a coffee bar in the center and I'm pretty positive they even have hot chocolate for the munchkins. The staff is great and very knowledgable. They have many offices for confidential dealings as well. I highly recommend giving this group a shot. They aren't new to the area but they only previously opened to the public. They will have a few new buildings popping up shortly for ease of access. Another plus is the amount of ATMs you can use. Great bank. read more

I've been a member of WPCU for 30 years and have been a loyal member. I have frequently recruited new members because I felt strongly that WPCU was as loyal to its depositors as they are to it. Unfortunately there has been a sharp decline in customer service and it seems they now take their members for granted. Recently I noticed my credit score dropped 100 points from my typical 800+ rating. After researching, I discovered WPCU had reported to the credit agencies that a loan I had co-signed for was delinquent on a monthly payment. I was never notified or given the opportunity to rectify the situation, nor was the primary loan holder. I find it appalling that the bank I trust, showed no loyalty or concern for me. Even more distressing was the call to customer service, which resulted in a lesson on how loans work. Are you kidding me? A check of my records would have revealed several paid off loans, providing evidence I understand how loans work. It also would have revealed I have more than enough to pay off the remaining balance of the co-signed loan and would have done so. My loyalty is fading fast. read more

Closing my account after 27 years due to their incompetence and poor treatment of what I would think is a long standing member. They took over 10 days to respond to a BBB complaint. They roally screwed up a deposit and blamed, in the end, the problems on everyone except themselves. read more

I have no insight into the banking aspect, but the mortgage aspect is amateur hour. We had 2 mortgage people helping us. The first, when we started the process, wasn't available to meet us, wouldn't return our calls, and left us sitting. We then went to the main office. There we met a very friendly, but not very thorough member. After we made an offer on a house, our paperwork had issues with incorrect values being put in our forms. All of the correct information was on the forms and contracts we sent her, but we had to catch this. read more
