I don't know about you, but I grew up with ROOT CANAL being the worst thing that could happen to a person, bad enough that it was written in all caps. You'd go in for a ROOT CANAL and come out a week later, badly bruised and whimpering.
I made it through almost 40 years without major dental problems, and then the last 5 or so it seems like I've been in the chair every other month. Dr. Wright performed my third RC today, and I couldn't be happier. I opted for the nitrous oxide, not because I have a particular fear of dentistry or the pain of the needle. I never had that option in the Air Force and think it's an awesome addition. Sure you feel the sting of the needle and the burning as the anesthetic spreads. You. Just. Don't. Care.
The procedure was painless, and I was out of the chair less than an hour after I walked in the door. I guess in the past it used to be much worse, but nowadays there's no need to fear this procedure.
