I happened upon Wagner Micro Electronics while out walking around and saw a bunch of clocks through the window. I wasn't sure if it's a store or a repair shop, but they sure would know where to get a clock fixed either way. Turns out it's both, repair and lots of stuff for sale. The man inside was very friendly and turns out he's lived in Chicago, where I'm from. I brought my clock later that day and I just picked it up. I'm so happy. He fixed it, cleaned it, and did it right before my sad return to Chicago. I was worried leaving the task of picking it up to my elderly mother. We had another friendly chat and John, the watchmaker, said he just moved to the location and would appreciate word of mouth. I figured that I'll do him one better, especially that my word of mouth is worth squat in Illinois, and I'll write a yelp review. So thank you John, I appreciate your great and timely service, here's your word of mouth!

After being surprised by Josef's approximately $900 quote to replace the movement of the watch (a standard quartz movement that itself is available for sale online for ~$40) I took the watch to JR Dunn in Pompano--an authorized Tag dealer and repair shop, where Josef's is not--and was quoted less than $300 to have the entire job done, by Tag themselves, with a warranty. Shamelessly quoting 3x a certified dealer for the exact same job is outrageous.
