The day California Closets designer came to our home a pair of earrings disappeared. So we…read morerequested a new designer out of caution. The reaction of the Manager was to scream at us, gaslight us, call us liars and finally not finish a project. Staci Russell, the Manager is ruthless, she will retaliate against you personally and your property. She is belligerant and was verbally abusive to me. Finally her vengeance was to leave one wall of the closet unfinished, causing a lot of complication, possible property devalue, mental anguish and additional money expense. Beware. The Orlando Store is not to be trusted. And if something goes missing on your house do NOT report or complaint. Because if you report it to Staci she will retaliate and take vengeance, the way only a General Manager can do it.

I called CC and another leading closet designer that advertises all the time (we'll call them Company A). Each was invited to my home to submit a design estimate. Both visited on the same day at a separate time, with about 2 hours separating appointments. In the interest of transparency, I told each company about their competitor's participation. Company A came first. They worked with me and asked the expected questions. They drafted a wonderful design, told me about their product, gave me project proposal, thanked me for the opportunity and left minutes before CC arrived. The CC representative designer arrived shortly afterwards. She asked all of the expected questions, sat down and drafted a design based on what I explained I wanted, and gave me a project proposal. She, too, thanked me and left about an hour or so after she had arrived. Both proposals were similarly priced. I was as busy as most people who worked at an office and used to travel a lot for work. Quite honestly, the redesigning of my closet was not at the top of my list of tasks shortly after I began the proposal process, so I never decided on CC or Company A. About 3 weeks after both appointments, Company A contacted me and said something as simple as "can I answer any questions about your proposal?" That's it. I really thought of CC first when I decided to redesign my project (they're local to my home), but they never called me. I awarded them the project and I moved on. About 5 years later, I had another walk in closet I wanted to customize. This time, I went to my local CC showroom. I explained my interest and gave the representative the closet dimensions so she could give me a proposal. She did it on the spot, and I was pleased at how quickly she leapt at the opportunity. As she worked on the design, I shared my experience from the first encounter and told them how disappointed I was that the first representative never contacted me after giving me a proposal. She apologized and said that this occasion would be different. That was the first week of January, 2022. As with the last project, I have been busy with life and work, and the closet project declined in importance. They never called me. So I reached out to another company that came to my attention (we'll call them Company B). They visited, created a design, gave a proposal, and left. About a month later, Company B contacted me to see if I had any questions about their offerings and proposal. Since they followed through by contacting me, and kept on top of the transaction, I awarded them the work. They were only a few hundred dollars less than CC, so the money wasn't the issue. California Closets has, again, not contacted me--even after getting an explanation that I wanted to do business with them over the others, and that I had a busy schedule that would likely distract me from projects like redesigning of the custom closet. Perhaps retrofitting a single Walk In Closet isn't a priority for CC. I'm disappointed with their laissez-faire approach to the projects, and have told many people about their lack of follow through. I'm forced to wonder what their service would be like if there were a need to address an issue, should it arise. I feel like I might never hear from them about that either.
