I love love LOVE this bakery! They respond to emails quickly and accommodate to what your asking! I have ordered twice now and both times 10/10 experience! Devi made a custom cake for my parents anniversary and even took the time to research and make it correctly! Not anyone would do that!! The cakes have turned out beautiful and made the night! We just ordered another one for a birthday which was lemon and absolutely was amazing the cake base it just so moist and textured in the best way possible! Its not too light where it feels like nothing but not dry or crumbly either just perfectly moist, and the don't event get me started on these buttercream icings just wow SO SMOOTH!! I've never had a cake where the icing just taste so perfect on it!! I think the only thing I wish would have been different on the lemon was if there was more curd filling but besides that the overall taste and look you cant get paste actual craftsmanship and baking skills!! Cant wait for future orders!! read more

I went to my cousin's wedding this weekend--she's had this planned for over a year and had her wedding postponed due to COVID. She's waited an extra six months to have the wedding of her dreams, and then on the day of her wedding, the cake doesn't arrive at the agreed upon time. Their centerpieces-handmade- were created specifically for their cupcakes from WOW cakes, by the way. We attempted to reach the owner 5 times to find out if the cake was on its way--and she finally showed up 2 and 1/2 hours LATE. She made the excuse that she was helping the wedding before find their cake topper, and then blamed the bride and groom for telling her that she was supposed to be there later than the agreed upon time (she still would have been an hour late). Not the kind of service you'd expect from a business owner. Highly disappointed--I won't be going to WOW cakes any time soon. read more

WOW Cakes - a pink and white cake with a bow - Custom Cakes Near Me - Wichita, Kansas

I was so very disappointed in my whole experience with WOW Cakes! The ordering process was painless (or so I thought). I ordered a round 2 tier cake for a retirement party for 40-50 people. Had to pick up on Saturday since they are closed on Sunday (no problem). I picked up the cake about 10 minutes befor they closed. The cake was suppose to be 1 tier chocolate & 1 tier vanilla, with a cute design. They got the round 2 tier part correct but that is the only thing that was right on the cake...the cake was very plain with the words Five O'clock Forever. No other design on the cake other than a blue border. When we cut into the cake there was no vanilla only chocolate. Tuesday I went back to let them know what happened the guy that took my order & the owner were both there he said he had misunderstood my request & wrote the order incorrectly, the owner said she had even questioned him about it because that wasn't what she remembered. Why didn't she call me? So what did they do for me...NOTHING!!! That's right NOTHING the owner said she would give me a percentage off on my next cake! REALLY!!! No, you should have given me a refund (maybe not all of it but at least something)! Why would I buy from you again when you totally messed up the cake? The firm I work for has used them for several cakes from birthdays, baby showers & retirements but no more. read more

I'm sorry for the first reviewer who had a bad experience with WOW Cakes. But I'd like to share my positive experience with the yelp world, because I think this place deserves it. While searching for wedding cake options, my husband and I scheduled tastings at three different local cake businesses around Wichita. Obviously we went with WOW Cakes because of 1) their prices 2) their flavor options and 3) their willingness to sit with me and talk about how I wanted the cake to look. The other two businesses failed in multiple ways (especially after visiting WOW Cakes first). One place handed us the cake options and basically walked away. They didn't seem to care about me or my business. The other place spent some time with us, but their cake flavors were not as varied or delicious. WOW Cakes had so many flavors and choices of icing, it was almost overwhelming. But they also gave us a stellar tasting and provided many options to us...as well as pairings of flavors (two mixed together to create a swirl, as well as pairing specific icing or jelly filling with cake flavor). My husband and I both loved almost all of the cake flavors, and we loved the texture of the cake as well. It wasn't sickeningly sweet or too dry...it was just perfect. Now, to be fair, I was not that picky when it came to decoration of my cake. I wanted a "roughly" iced look that appeared pretty simple. I had heard that WOW Cakes had let some customers down, as the cake decor did not come out how they had specified...but I did not have this issue. Everyone loved the different flavors of cake at my wedding, and we had no issues with any part of the cake process. Another bonus came when I called WOW a year later to inquire about purchasing a small cake with the same flavor we chose for our wedding, and they reminded me that because I had purchased my original wedding cake with them, they will provide a small anniversary cake - FREE OF CHARGE! Yay! I only have two complaints...and I feel as though I need to add these although they do not take away from the 5 star rating. 1. I had to wait a few times at WOW Cakes because there was only one person around at a time to help customers. Luckily I was only behind one customer, and I was not rushing to be somewhere, otherwise this might've been a bigger issue. 2. When I called about the anniversary cake, my surprise that it was free overshadowed the fact that the woman who answered the phone was somewhat rude to me and was unable to pull up my original purchase to confirm the flavor while I was on the phone. She acted annoyed that I could not remember the flavor of the top tier of my cake (when we had ordered multiple sheet cakes with different flavors and icings and I wasn't sure which one was the one on top of our actual cake). I think their customer service could improve a little. Other than that, I was more than happy with my purchase and our decision to go with WOW Cakes for our wedding. read more

Have used them for cakes for a long time. Called today and the person that answered the phone was so rude and short. Don't need to support that type of customer service. read more

Have nothing but great things to say about WOW Cakes! Worked with them from another state to prepare a Dr. Seuss themed cake for my sister's twin baby shower. They were great to work with, very responsive and helped with the creation of the cake to my budget based on my inspiration images! Also have gluten free options! The cake was delivered on time and was simply stunning! Also, the flavor matched now awesome the cake looked! Hard to achieve with gluten free cake! Highly recommend!! (See uploaded pics!) read more

June is busy for birthdays in my family, and then there is also Father's Day. This was my first time using WOW cakes and i must say I was thoroughly impressed. I wanted to do a birthday and Father's Day cake and how no ideas. I left it up to them. I also wanted to do vanilla but the lady helping me suggested vanilla almond. Well I was very happy with the creativity of the cake. Especially since I couldn't think of anything on my own. Also, the vanilla almond was delicious!! I was skeptical but glad I went with what they suggested. So good! I was looking for a new cake place and I think this place is it! Also, you get a discount if you pay in cash. read more

My wife photographed a wedding today, cake by WOW Cakes. Or it would have been if they had been at the shop like they agreed. Should have been open at 8 to pick up a cake for a wedding at 10. They called at 1:15 saying they could get the cake then. The "emergency" number given was just the shop phone that went to an answering machine. Pathetic. Don't waste your money. read more

WOW Cakes was FANTASTIC! The cake was delicious and the perfect consistency. Not only was the cake delicious but the prices are VERY affordable. The customer service is excellent too. We actually weren't able to book the cake until the week before the wedding. They had no problem with that since we had already been in and decided what we wanted! The cake was delivered right on time and was exactly what I wanted! I definitely recommend WOW Cakes to anyone looking for a cake for any occasion! read more

I have used WOW cakes multiple times and I have been more than pleased every time. They did make a mistake once but corrected the issue by giving me a free additional cake. Please note the one star reviews are rather old. I will say over the past year, they have been the only cake place I will trust with my special events! read more

So disappointed! They did not answer the phone or return the message the day that I was to pick up my cake, they had the box for my cake sitting on the floor, the box wouldn't close all the way, then the frosting was the WRONG FLAVOR! When I called back about it, I was told that I could drive back to the shop and they could re-ice the cake in the correct flavor (I'm not sure what they thought they would do regarding the decorations!!!) or give me 25% off my next order so they could "WOW" me with their greatness! Are you kidding me??? It was a horrible experience and I'm so glad that we didn't use them for an occasion that this would matter! Such bad business- and the cake was not great. Please spread the word so this doesn't happen to others! read more

Absolutely awful experience! I gave this vendor over 700$ for two cakes. They later called my wedding planner claiming that they were unable to do the 3D cake I asked for and then refused to refund me my deposit when I moved the cakes to another baker! After a Better Business Bureau complaint and some negative reviews, they are now refusing to refund me ANY of my money. I am currently in the process of taking them to small claims court. Please feel free to verify my information on the Kansas Better Business Bureau website at kansasplains.bbb.org. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR MONEY OR YOUR WEDDING DAY! read more

10" round birthday cake tasted good and looked good, but it was way over priced. I ordered a 50th birthday cake for my hubby on the phone. We had ordered several WOW cakes at our office for various occasions, so I thought I knew what to expect. When I went to pick up the cake, they had me pay before they showed me the cake - which I thought was a little odd. The cake looked really nice, but the "edible image" was not edible at all - I couldn't even cut it with a knife. I had to completely pull it off the top of the cake so I could cut it. I also thought $105.00 for a 10" round double layer cake was a little pricey. It did have the edible image and a fondant pattern around the bottom edge, but everyone that saw it thought I paid double what I should have when I told them it was $105.00. Their cupcakes are really good - I have tried several of their flavors. I don't think Cameo is much better - the dye they use in their frosting makes it taste horrible. I may try J. Rae's next time for a decorated cake. I got a chocolate chip cookie cake there for my son a few months ago - and it was nothing short of fabulous for about $25.00. That's what I should have done for hubby!! read more

I ordered gluten free cupcakes for my daughter's birthday. They were the best we have ever tasted! We have been to several bakeries in Wichita and my husband who doesn't usually like gluten free loved them. The service was great too. read more

My mother in law threw me a baby shower back in Aug 2013. She went over the reviews of my cake with wow cakes and it was suppose to be mint green, navy, coral, with gold cheetah print, gold glitter dusted on top, and a big bow on top. ( to match her room) also the filling was suppose to be a lemon custard type stuff. She got the cake back and it was lime green, neon pink, brown cheetah, barely any navy, no glitter, and no bow on top. It was horrible. The filling was also not the lemon filling we ordered. She paid over 200 for that ugly cake and she won't go back. We asked them to put the cake on to Facebook and they didn't because they know how horrible it looked. I'm shocked how a business thinks they can just do what ever they want when we pay them to make something specific.. horrible place. never going back to waste my money. read more

Best cake in town, not to mention their amazing customer service! They were spot on with the amount of cake we should order for the party and everyone was commenting on how amazing the cake was! We will definitely be back!!! read more

Awesome experience! We ordered a cake and cupcakes for my parents 50th anniversary party. I didn't really know what I wanted when I went to their shop but they were patient and extremely helpful so I was able to place my order that day. Then I had to double the cupcake order 4 days before the party which they said was no problem at all. We transported the cake and cupcakes ourselves but they gave us advice so we didn't have any issues. We set the small cake on the top tier of a cup cake stand then put the cupcakes on the bottom tiers and on on several other cake stands. It was beautiful!!! The guest were commenting on how wonderful the cupcakes tasted and asking where we got them. One guest said she has a relative that owns a cake business so she would have to sneak in to WOW Cakes for some of those cupcakes! My parents enjoyed the cake as well. This was a wonderful experience from start to finish! Thank you WOW Cakes! read more

Any bride considering WOW cakes needs to read this review!!! I read multiple reviews and had one concern when I chose WOW Cakes. Would they deliver my cake on time? I gave them the benefit of the doubt because Pam was so nice and seemed to know exactly what I wanted when we met. We talked on the phone a few days before my reception and confirmed the time and place for delivery. They were to have my cake at the venue at 5:30pm. I began calling them, between pictures, at 6:15 when my cake still hadn't arrived. I called over and over again. They never answered the "emergency number" or attempted to call me. At 6:55, five minutes prior to the reception, Pam finally answered my call. She told me she was on her way and that her mind was on the next evening already. Really? Apparently, Pam believes its okay to show up at a wedding reception after it has started and assemble the cake in the middle of the event. I insisted that she wouldn't be in the middle of the party so the cake was assembled in a different part of the country club and finally arrived in the appropriate room at 8:00 (one hour after the reception started). Pam's failure to execute threw off the order of events at the party and ruined the display of the dessert table. The cake itself looked good and tasted great. However, it's a moot point! I warn any and every bride that WOW cakes is not reliable for your big day!!!! Choose anyone other than WOW! read more

I placed an order for a baby shower cake 30 days in advance. I sent a photo of what I wanted, with a few modifications. I asked for a photo of the finished product as soon as it was done. I received a photo the day before I picked the cake up and was highly disappointed, in that while it was a pretty cake, it was not what I asked for-the shape of the quilted pattern was off, there was no stitching on the pattern as there was in the photo, it lacked the puffy tufted look also shown in the photo, and the placement of the beading was inaccurate. I asked them if they could work on the adjustments to detail and was told yes. I guess they tried to call me right back to tell me they couldn't fix it, yet I never received that call. I learned they couldn't fix it upon arrival to pick the cake up. I paid $170 for this cake and am so sad and disappointed. I received no apology, no discount in price, nothing. I had no choice but to take the cake, seeing as how I drive in from out of state and it is the day before the shower. This cake was supposed to be the centerpiece of the shower, and I am actually quite embarrassed because it did not live up to my expectations. Ad they communicated with me that they couldn't fulfill what I needed, I could have worked with them to come up with other ideas. Instead, I am left with a cake that literally brought me to tears upon seeing it because it simply isn't what I asked for, despite providing a photo. This was for my best friend's first baby. I couldn't be more disappointed. read more
