However, when he took the test he found I don't need them. The Menaul office sent them the wrong person records. I never went back until this past Nuly. I was sent to an ENT for fluid in my ears. The ENT said there is No fluid in my ears. I called to get that ENT the evaluation but she wants to charge me. I asked Why? She hung up on me. When I called to speak to some pdy in charge, they picked up the line and hung up after the other prrfon transferred me to the office

I dropped down $6000 on my current pair of BTE's, also knowing that even though there is supposedly a return period the audiologist was going to steer me away from that. These are my third pair of hearing aids, second from Sandia. I don't need to explain the fitting process but weekly I go in and have them adjusted, brutal process. However the receptionist Joyce cant appreciate the fact I don't want to talk to her in more than she wants to talk to me. Now for the specifics, the clear tube connecting the microphone to the ear mold is too short, so it interferes with my glasses and falls off my ears constantly, the left ear mold does not seat properly causing constant feedback. This is embarrassing to me and annoying others, these BTE's have great technology but it's not perfect and I understand that. The fact I was never given options makes no sense as I said I've worn two sets of hearing aids for ten years I know my body. Finally it got so tedious going in weekly that I was to rely on my app to solve my problems of adjustment, doesn't quit seem right.

I generally get my hearing aids from the VA, but they've been less than helpful in replacing my over the ear hearing aids that have suffered thru covid with me. They've been launched, dropped and lost when unmasking and background noise has 1st priority So unwilling to continue that frustration in the drawer they went. That was the beginning of the next level of frustration. Finally reaching wits end and having been inundated with mail from local hearing aid companies I decided to act. I learned that hearing aid vendors are like used car salesmen, lure you with rock bottom prices and try to upsell into the model that is practical with the most profit for them. So enter Costco Hearing Aid Center, in typical Costco fashion they buy in bulk, and have stores all over the country. So I stopped in, talked to the audiologist and scheduled an Appt. After the hearing test we discussed the options. Since the audiologist are not paid on commission I feel I got better info with no pressure. Hearing aids chosen, molds made and come back in 10 days to pick them up. Huh? Normal took 4-6 weeks at the VA. I show up, they fit great. They were programmed to my hearing deficit, connected to my phone and now I can hear you. They are brand name with the bells & whistles *I* wanted. It was a great experience and now I wonder why it took me so long. Costco may not be your first choice but the may be your last.

We are now in mid July, and I have heard NOTHING. Making several attempts to contact them has not been successful as they do not answer their phones and all messages have fallen on deaf ears (pun intended) as I have not received any response. If this is the hassle I have to go through to get my hearing aids, I'd hate to think of the type of service I would get for any follow-up attempts. I have attempted to cancel my order through TruHearing but they also cannot get a response as they need the order back from McCurley to cancel. So it looks like even the supplier can't get any action. I would hate to get a lawyer involved just to cancel an order that was never received because McCurley staff continue to ignore me. Funny how just the 5 star reviews are the only ones posted.

The new ones are still great after another five years. I just went in for some help replacing the tips of them (at no charge). I was afraid to monkey with them on my own. The office was very helpful and friendly, taught me how to replace the tips myself and gave me some extras. You will not get care and quality like this from places like Cosco -- I know because my partner went there and wants to take his hearing aids back and go to McCurley.

Three days before Christmas last year, Carol Clifford, owner of Albuquerque Hearing and Balance…read morefired me two days after giving me a raise. She said that state law wasn't required to tell me why I was let go, but the timeline of events clearly indicates that I was retaliated against for having brought attention to this medical office's lackadaisical and unsafe attitude towards alcohol use. I wouldn't have brought this up if both the Director of Administration and the Office Manager had not told me within days of being hired that the owner was a "functional alcoholic" and joked that I nearly botched my interview by mentioning my aversion to alcohol too emphatically. This troubled me even more after seeing alcohol on the premises. After I met with Heather Auge (Director of Administration) for nearly 3 hours on December 12, I walked away with the feeling that she was trying to RETAIN me, considering the tenor and length of our discussion. We broadly discussed my concerns on lack of staffing, my training, and the alcohol situation. She told me she was glad I "didn't keep my mouth shut" with my concerns. After acknowledging holes in my training, assuring me I was doing a good job, and that my job was safe, she responded to me asking about the owner's alcohol use. When I asked about the alcohol use of Dr. Clifford she had the following to say over what was a lengthy conversation about the present/future of the company: Here are some direct quotes: "She's an alcoholic." "Well, I mean, she is going more and more into not being functioning." "It will, and Carol can't make it another six or seven years. Carol wants to work for another six or seven years. But if she's on this path, I don't know how she does it for another two." Heather: "Yes, there is a succession plan. Um, that is something that Carol has been working on too, because you need to have a succession plan. (Employee A) is a part of that. (Employee B) is a part of that. I am a part of that. (Employee C) is a part of that. We have a lot of people who have been here for a really long time, who, we understand, how the company runs. We understand the history of... and if Carol would get hit by a bus tomorrow, the company would not close. We would continue to function. We've tried to make sure that we have backups for everybody, any one of us is expendable. And, like, nobody ever wants to hear, like, everybody's replaceable, but really everybody's replaceable. If I get hit by a bus, (Employee D) can do my job." Me: "If she (Carol) hits the bus, we're all getting replaced." Heather: "If Carol hits a bus, um, No, it's gonna be fine. We're gonna be fine. The company will be fine. It won't be great press. That's my concern is not, um, like... in an error. It's more about what the perception of this place becomes. Yep. But internally and especially externally. "You know, it's a good clinic, it's number one in the country, and it's run by an alcoholic" "Most doctors know Carol. Most of them are aware of her situation." "We had an audiologist who, (Audiologist's name), overheard saying, 'Yeah, when I took the job, I knew she was a wino.' " "We have a respect relationship. And that has been falling away in the last couple of years because she can't get herself under control. And that's, like, a lack of control is something that I don't have a lot of respect for. And so talking with (Employee X) made me realize that I am not being fully present in my job if I'm not bringing this to Carol's attention because it's going to affect her business. In reference to my job performance, security and training: "Right now, as far as employees and providing support, like, you will be my first priority." "I will get you what you need. We just need to figure out what that is." "If you need six months of training, then that's what we will provide." "Your job is safe." Me: "No, I felt... I felt, honestly, abandoned. Heather: Yeah, and I didn't know that, so I apologize deeply. Um, I did not mean to make you feel that way and I will work towards fixing that, and I will make sure that the rest of our management team, (Employee A) is aware, and can try to work towards getting you what you need. We don't want to lose you. Me: I don't want to be coddled, either. Heather: Right. Right, but if that's what you need to get you to where you don't need to be, like, I mean, coddled might be the wrong word, right? Me: Trained. (CONTINUED IN PHOTOS BELOW)
