Casey bills themselves as a "Small Town, Big Things" and they're not kidding. Located just off I-70 and even if you don't want to see some of the further away Largest Things, the World's Largest Rocking Chair is in downtown and surrounded by Largest things, There is parking nearby and you can walk around to see the stuff. One of which is, yes, the World's Largest Rocking Chair. Sadly you can't sit in it but you can take pictures with it and even touch it. I found this one to be one of the most interesting World's Largest things, right up with the mailbox that you can go inside and the wind chimes that you can sound. Stop by and check them out. It's strange that I've visited the world's #1 AND #2 largest rocking chairs, and they are both on historic roads! This one, on the Historic National Road in Casey, takes the line in the Guinness book. It's a great selfie/photo landmark and just a fun, quirky thing to look at. The rating for the "World's Largest Rocking Chair" is actually a rating for the entire town of Casey, IL (pronounced KZ). There is not too much to see or do here in Casey. Unless you like grain bins, the illinois Softball hall of fame, or tractor dealerships So, the people of Casey decided to make big things. They started with a wind chime. That was pretty good, but there is a LOT of competition for this one, and town after town kept upping the wind chime height. So, Casey decided to try different things. Some are great, some are meh, and some are downright silly. However, it brought in tourists, and more to the point money. Now, none of the items charge to go see them (this is a good thing). However, it will take you and your crew an entire day to see them all. You will have to stop at a local restaurant, gas up, etc, so that helps out Casey and the residents. I mean, WHO can climb into the world's largest mailbox and not want a burger afterwards? The rocking chair, the mailbox (my favorite), the wind chime (no longer the largest, but worth seeing and you can ring it), the pitchfork, and the golf tee are fun. Some, like the largest wooden token, are silly. The largest knitting needles are harder to find, but overall, Casey did a brilliant job and I hope they continue. Since I am a relatively local person, I don't have any pictures, but you just have to go get your own. read more

I had heard about Casey, IL and its collection of the "World's Largest" objects, so on the road trip from IND to STL, we stopped to get gas and check it out for ourselves, as it's halfway between the two cities. Maybe it was the overcast weather, but I was a little underwhelmed. They were fun to see and it's a quick, easy drive from the interstate exit, but there's not much more to the town than that. The rocking chair was probably my favorite! Let's just say on our way home, we stopped in nearby Effingham for gas & lunch instead of coming through here again. read more

I am a sucker for any roadside attraction with "world's largest" in its title. I heard about Casey and all of its "world's largest" things recently though I thought the person was referring to Caseyville, IL and would have been super bummed if I'd shown up there instead. I wasn't planning to visit Casey...well, actually I was. I was on my way to visit my cousin, Casey, who lives in Ohio, but I digress....when I saw the sign for Casey, IL and all of its large things. My husband is no where near as interested in "world's largest" things, but it was Mother's Day weekend and I got my way. We were heading to Charleston Illinois on Interstate 70 I seen a sign that said Worlds Largest Rocking Chair I told my hubby on the way back I wanted to go see it. So we did. Exit 129 Casey Illinois also seen a sign Worlds largest Wind chime I was excited just like a little kid. Then worlds largest Golf Tee that's were we learned all about all the other things in Town. So we headed to town on one corner is the rocking chair on the other is the wind chime. The chair is huge all wood and magnificent. You can walk all the way around it but not on it. So I walked across the street to the wind chime it is a working wind chime. So we got back in the car looking for the next thing seen the Pencil-Bird Cage and then worlds largest Mailbox it is so big you can go up inside it. Then seen the Ruler on our way to see the Pitch Fork. . We didn't get to see the Worlds Largest-Wooden Shoes or the Knitting Needle or Crochet Hook. Right behind the wind chime is the mans work shop we he make all these interesting amazing works of ART. We were told he's working on a horseshoe next. I can't wait till I can go back and learn more about this man and see more of his dreams. read more

Located in downtown Casey, you will find two rather large unique attractions which probably put the small town of Casey, IL on the map. The first is the World's Largest Rocking Chair, which I could not confirm because it seems that several cities claim they are also home to the largest. Needless to say it is an interesting site to see a large rocking chair sitting outside of an old country downtown. Honestly there isn't too much around, other than the World's Largest Wind Chime located across the street but its a great way to get out of the car. Overall this is a unique attraction, even if it really isn't the world's largest. Checking out both attractions will only set you back about 20 minutes and is worth a quick stop. read more

I might be a little weird when it comes to stuff like this. My boyfriend and I were heading to St. Louis when we saw this but we didn't swing by until we were coming back from St. Louis. I was super excited about the rocking chair. Both of us really underestimated the rocking chair's size. My boyfriend was talking about wanting to climb on it, until we saw how big it was! Haha. Nice little restaurant by the chimes to grab a snack and a drink. Inside and outside tables. Candy shop where the shoes are has a neat old time freight elevator that's pretty cool. Casey is a little town that is home to big things! Not only was the rocking chair pretty impressive, not sure it's really the worlds largest, but definitely could be...but they also have the largest wind chime, bird cage, ruler, knitting needles, and wooden shoes all within walking distance of each other. There is also an impressively massive mailbox that you can actually go inside of and take a few comical pics of. The golf tee, largest cross, and pitchfork are all located in nearby spots, worth a little detour. This town is very quaint, with lots of local Midwestern small town flavor, but has a big personality taking a lot of pride in their attractions. It was a great way to stretch our legs and have a laugh taking silly pics. Would go back! read more

We were making the long trip across I 70 W to Moab, UT and saw the sign for the worlds largest rocking chair. We decided to stop. it wasn't very far off of the freeway. And there ended up being much more than just the rocking chair. There was the world's largest gavel, wind chimes, mailbox (you can actually climb up into the mailbox), Dutch wooden shoes, and pitch fork.
