World's Largest Chile Pepper - 47 foot concrete red chile
    Edie A.

Fun, quick stop for a photo op. This massive 47 foot concrete red chile pepper is located in front of the Big Chile Inn on Hotel Row on Picacho Avenue. No longer fenced in, you can get up close and personal for your pictures and it has a fairly new coat of red paint to add to the spiciness.

Roadside attraction not to be missed. June 1, 2023.

Visited June 1, 2023. Very cool roadside attraction. It is a BIG Chili Pepper. 47-foot-long red chili pepper made of 2.5 tons of concrete. In a motel parking lot (Big Chile Inn). Selfie worthy.

World's Largest Chile Pepper, Las Cruces
    Bruce K.

Built in 2010-2011 by the owners of the motel who hoped to use it as a tourist attraction, this is 5000 pounds of concrete and it's not going anywhere. Around 47 feet long, it is open to be viewed and photographed, the gate that used to be here a few years ago has been removed. Las Cruces is hope for the Chile Pepper Institute and chile peppers are New Mexico's number one crop. So of course this belongs here. I don't know about the hotel as I didn't stay there. I just came to see the hot pepper. Very cool? [Review 17474 overall - 84 in New Mexico - 992 of 2022.]

If you google "Things to do in Las Cruces, New Mexico", one of the topics you will see is the "World's Largest Chili Pepper". Measuring at 47 long and weighing 2 1/2 tons, you can't miss this thing as you drive by. It sits right in front of the Big Chile Inn. Obviously, the owners of the hotel wanted to attract more customers. I would say to put this on your list of things to see in Las Cruces. It's definitely a sight to see and of course you will look cool with this giant thing in the background of your selfie! Yelp 2023 Review #23 916 overall

It's dog friendly and the volunteer working when we visited was quite gregarious and offered our dog some treats that she makes herself to bring in for the pups that visit. Our dog is very picky so she didn't eat it, but it was very sweet and thoughtful. You could tell that the volunteer genuinely loves the museum and was super excited to have visitors to share it with. She chatted with us quite a bit and it was almost like a personal tour where she was giving us information on everything inside. During our visit only one other couple stopped in, they had a dog also, and she was just as warm and friendly to them. It's nice to hear stories from someone who really cares about the history and is clearly knowledgeable. For me, the highlight was getting to touch things that had been on the moon and returned to Earth. How many people can say they have touched something that has been on the moon? My husband thought seeing all the old astronauts food in toothpaste styled tubes was interesting. There's something about vintage space travel that's kind of fascinating and almost funny; it's interesting to see how far we've come. The murals were fine, but the museum and artifacts were probably more enjoyable to me personally. It's not a huge place but there's definitely a lot to see. We got a souvenir coin on our way out which serves as a nice little memento. It's definitely worth stopping in even if you just have a mild interest in space because the price of admission can't be beat, it's free!!
