Here are my reasons: (1) absolutely no customer service as it relates to your policies. You have access to an email that goes to who knows where and no one really knows whats going on; (2) in connection with item #1, they adopt and enforce absolutely ridiculous policies. I was a member of the Vancouver branch and wanted to transfer to the Calgary branch. I was told this was impossible. Instead, my options were to "upgrade" my membership at double the monthly rate or cancel my Vancouver membership, re-enroll with Calgary and pay the initial joining fee again; (3) there's no water fountain. This one is actually extremely bizarre. How can it even be legal to permit people to work out in an environment where dehydration can only be mitigated by waiting for some guy to finish his business in the washroom so that you can desperately access to sink taps? I know its a "no frills" gym but, Fit 4 Less, is a water fountain really a "frill"? At this point, your members may even settle for a garden hose attached in the alley. Don't sign up with this gym. I realize the price point "appears" worth it, but trust, there are better ones out there with similar or the same prices. (World Gym in Calgary for one).

The new gym, GYMVMT is one of the best I've ever worked out at. They don't nickel and dime you by charging extra on top of your membership for all the things you would want to use. Athletic training / turf zone, included, infra-red sauna, scientifically proven to be better than the stone ones, included, classes included, sessions with a trainer included, body composition tests included, most or all of these things are extra at most gyms. I love that every Wednesday they have a maintenance crew that comes through and fixes all the machines or anything else that needs it so things are always working. I've been to gyms where equipment was broken down and not able to be used for months. This place is also extremely clean. Never seen any place with as many people in and out as this one gym or otherwise that is this clean all the time. The staff are the best part. Everyone is so helpful and friendly it makes it easy to keep coming back. If you want a good gym that gives you the best value for your money I've ever seen, this is the one for you. Also ladies, there is a full ladies gym, not one of those tiny ladies areas some gyms have a full sized club attached. I can't go in as a guy, but have heard all about it from some ladies that are members and it sounds like it's just as good as the co-Ed part I get to use there. Definitely recommend.

I am disappointed with Goodlife. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic and my gyms approach to…read morethe "Membership Freeze" program I have been forced to allow my membership to lapse. I work for an emergency medical service that provides transportation and care to some of Canada's sickest patients. In good conscience, I am not comfortable with attending my gym at this time. On June 22nd I received an email from Goodlife stating, "If you aren't ready to return to your Club just yet... we are offering a temporary Membership freeze to any Member who requests it..." Upon reading this I called my club and requested a freeze. I was told that I could freeze my membership, but it was not worth it because the membership was going to expire on July 16th. I asked, shouldn't freezing the membership just push back the expiration date until the freeze is removed? The employee did not seem to understand what I was asking. Then I asked if I could renew my membership and immediately freeze it. The employee told me that a freeze could not be applied to a recently renewed membership. Lastly, I asked if I could let my membership lapse and re-register when it is responsible to attend the club again. The employee told me I could do this, but I would have to pay the registration fee ($100 I believe) as if I were a new member. I was a long time Goodlife membership holder (my Dragon Boat team and I almost exclusively work out at Goodlife). I am also unable to attend the gym as I work at an organization that is supporting the fight against Covid-19. I am incredibly disappointed that Goodlife will not allow me to freeze my membership, or will charge me the registration fee if I choose to renew my membership later. I would have liked to continue to support Goodlife, but given this lack of assistance I have chosen to enroll at a different gym when I am able to do so.

The machines are always clean as they can be and I have had the pleasure of attending the Zumba class which was amazing. The four stars is because recently since I have had to move I had to sadly cancel my membership and wow what a mission this has been. The woman "in charge" was really unprofessional and after still being charged after I canceled she would do nothing to help me. I had to call so many people and finally cancel to get to the bottom of this. I know gym memberships are really hard to get out of but the fact that they all know me pretty well and I have never created a scene, this was a really poor way to leave this gym. Very disappointed but I won't let that affect me rating the quality of this gym. I still enjoyed my time and would recommend it but would advise others to make sure you check the membership before signing reallyyy well.

The ladies that were working out did seem pretty into it and the routine looked good, so if you have the money thats awesome, but don't fall for their sneaky marketing. A regular gym membership is a lot cheaper.

As I had been feeling really not healthy and vulnerable, but did not have $700, I stupidly signed up for the year membership. They asked for my CC information, however, I did not send them the CVS number on the back and I kept getting text messages from various numbers saying either you have a meal plan meeting on this date or that they were taking it personally that you weren't signing up with them. I was hoping that by not giving them that CVS number my application didn't go through, whew!, bullet dodged. The payment did go through though and I called and yes, I missed my meal plan meeting. I told them that their text messages were very confusing and they apologized saying that it was automatically generated. On to the meal plan..........in the orientation I was told I would receive a personalized meal plan, not so. They hand you a piece of paper that tells you what you can't eat and how much of certain things to eat. It doesn't matter if you're trying to lose 60 pounds or 6 pounds. I asked to see the other plan and was told I couldn't until I finished this one. I didnt agree with everything on this meal plan, but the owner seemed very agitated when I had questions. On to the workout, they were ok, but very disorganized. They had you doing 3 sets of the same thing over and over instead of switching it up, focusing on the tricep area for 9 sets! You could see the women losing form because their triceps were soooo tired, then on to the biceps for the same thing. The hours state they are from 6 am to 8 pm, but this is only if there is a trainer available. This was the last straw with me! I went this morning for a 6 am workout and nobody else was there. I waited until 6:15, nothing. This was my first 6 am workout, but was told at the beginning that I didn't need to sign up anywhere, just show up. I called later on and was told that since the owners were out of town, there were no 6 am classes. When I asked how this information was given to the members, the receptionist said, she thinks that it was announced in classes...........I never heard this and if it was, I probably didn't hear it because I was focusing on my workout. Now my only problem is to find a way to cancel this membership without having to pay another $200. I wish I would have trusted my gut instinct right from the start!

I went to the gym to avail the Black Friday deal that they offered one of my friend and because it was close to where I live. The person first told me that they don't have the same deal and offered me another deal which made me pay more. I told the guy that my friend was told it is still available and left the gym without signing the contract. I got a call from the gym during Box Day and told that a similar deal is now available but when I went to the gym at first they said that the deal has ended and then when I told them I got a call from the gym they reluctantly gave me a deal which was close to the original deal but still made me pay more. The guy told me it is a one year contract and after one year I can cancel the contract or it will auto renew. After I joined the gym I realized it was not Gold Standard as advertised. The equipment were old and frequently out of service. The personal training session were too costly and the locker rooms where dirty. So after one year and before my renewal I asked the gym to cancel my membership and I was told I still have to pay for another year of annual membership fees and any payment falling in 30 days which technically meant 3 bi-weekly payments. Even after telling the gym that it made no sense for me to pay to annual membership when I am informing you before my renewal date. At this the gym told me that I had signed a contract which says that I need to inform them 30 days in advance and refused to pay me back my money. Please don't go by the marketing campaigns and join another gym that gives you better value for your money.
