I worked for this company and they do not pay their translators. They were banned from the professional translation portal ProZ because there we too many complaints. I have tried getting payment from them for over 5 years. They are a scam. They get translators to work and get paid for the job, but they do not pay the translator. Not exactly the cheapest service in town. First English draft of my German High School certificate was ready two hours after payment but with several faults in the translation. Not only some ambiguous interpretations but also formatting mistakes, which could easily cost me a valid college application. The second star I only give them because it was no problem to have the translation reviewed and corrected by them immediately. There is a reason why this company offers the lowest rate for translation services -- their staff members and contract workers are badly paid. WPT outsource the translation work to contract/freelance translators who are not directly employed with the company. They have been lowering their payment rates to these freelance translators for years. They are also terrible at paying on time -- there are numerous accounts of former contractors complaining of being paid late or not getting paid at all for their work. WPT are banned on the website ProZ.com (a popular forum used by thousands of translators, translation agencies and language professionals) as a result of complaints made against them in relation to non-payment to contractors/freelance translators. As a contractor, they are difficult to communicate with especially when it concerns late payment of invoices. There are also reports of poor management within the company, bullying by the manager, lack of training and a generally bad working environment. Much of the staff are interns and there is a high turnover of project managers. They also claim to be a wholly 100% Irish-owned company -- the owners are Russian. A note to freelance translators: if you plan to sign up with this agency, please proceed with caution and be sure to get the payment terms agreed in writing before accepting any jobs.
