Woollies is an identity with born and bread Anglo Aussie's ...Since I was a young girl with pigtails my Mum did our family shop at our local Ermington Woollies ... It was good fun and I have memories of this... However today's shopping experience is anything but FUN!!!!. Australia has embraced multiculturalism be it GREAT for our nation OR ... These folk from other lands ... should also embrace their new home respecting and appreciating that AUSSIE VALUES are very entrenched...after all it is AUSTRALIA.. our Aussie ways are who we are! .
Good manners, cheerfulness, delight in being of service to a fellow human / the general public ... and doing so from the heart...should be apart of all cultures. Having a job is not a right but should be valued and mindful that it provides you, your family with security and a lifestyle.
I am finding that the lack of courtesy commencing with parking is sometimes fraught with hurdles by inconsiderate self-centred opportunistic, me,me, me's cutting you off and jumping in to the spot you are graciously awaiting... Going to my Son's last Friday 20th May was needing to purchase items for the day, reluctantly went to Woolies Wolli Creek, this is the closest location to my Son's, due to my immense dislike of the store culture have given this shop a wide berth.
Whilst expeditiously packing my grocories into my car was horn blasted, jolting me to attention, noting a bald headed 30 something immigrant blasting his horn for me to move out of his way... I jested my anger and he moved on parking just 2 car spaces down from me. I watched him vacate his car and incredously he was wearing a Woolies uniform, just perfect, this immigrant has physically demonstrated his intolerance and appaling bad manners for a maturing Anglo Saxon women... What a looser!
Upon entering the shop, mindless, thoughtless shoppers go about their business as if they are the only folk in the store, you are NEEDING TO avoid trolleys and collisions resulting PERHAPS in injury...Us being older, slower wears thin for some co-shoppers.
Staff at different sections within the store could care less of your needs or any requests, they generally go about their job as if you are not there. I had to say hello to the check-out operator twice and then the third time I actually said to her "I have said HELLO to you three times now, her focus was on what she was preoccupied with NOT ME... no apologies offered, her answer was I heard you ..Dah! The bread section wears me out, such a minefield of bread choices and the costings is time consuming .. TWO FOR $4.00 ..TWO FOR $5.00 TWO FOR $6.00, with these costing strategies all over the entire shop. I hesitate to purchase the store made FRESH pizza's. They have me extremely nervous to buy these days because of a BAD EXPERIENCE ... YOUR DELI STAFF IN CHARGE OF MAKING THESE PIZZA'S ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!!
We had a very nasty smelling OFF MEAT ON TWO PIZZA'S THAT WE PURCHASED. This had been addressed on the day as I was in serious shock and embarrassment, these deadly pizza's intended being fed to my young granddaughter and my Son. The manager at the time was very concerned and apologetic ... But all this back- peddling wouldn't have helped my family from Botulism, food poisoning, etc. Very serious indeed!!!!
Internal QUALITY CONTROLL PROCESSESS should not BE at the EXTERNAL awaiting outcome of recall BY TRUSTING CUSTOMERS!!!!
Some staff in the deli department are even quite inept at their jobs, so slow and really not interested in prompt service, just filling in time till lunch and then home! This is an assessment ... not the ramblings of an unkind critical shopper.
Woollies / Coles MARKETING STRATEGIES ARE CRAP!!! I DON'T WANT 2 PACKETS OF BREAD ROLLS OR TWO OF MOST THINGS !!!! We are only 2 people sometimes 3 with my Son ... We are pensioners NOW... we have limited money, medically burdened, and no physical resource to change our situation ... So thanks for nothing ... Woollies is greedy... opportunistic and employ heaps of different nationalities who couldn't give a damn about my shopping experience, I am just a nuisance in their day. So I shop where I must and it is a sufferance! This is the way it has become due to the greed of Multi Corporate Companies giving more back to the share holders than their valued customers.
Today the truth and nothing but the truth has been expressed ... This has been brewing up a storm in me for sometime now ... SO THANKS FOR ASKING TO WRITE A REVIEW ...YOUR WELCOME! ... WARMEST REGARDS angie bassan.
FOOTNOTE:
My professional assessment is there is.. BIG GAPS within various sections ... Training is needed ...get RID OF BELLIGERENT, LAZY AND UNGRACIOUS STAFF. THIS STARTS WITH THE RECRUITING PROCESS. EMPLOY THE RIGHT PEOPLE FOR THE RIGHT JOB! Treating people with kindness and respect, good manners are qualities not everyone possess ... regrettably! Employ professionally friendly and job competent people. read more
